  • Hi buddy, are you british?

    Greetings from Medellín, Colombia.

  • Hi Alex, what kind of workshop roofing is that? Is it corrugated perspex.

  • shit mate im using a panel saw

  • @teenwoodworker where do you get the wood im in the uk aswell? just painted my workbench as il be doing all work in my bedroom

  • what do you use to sharpen your chisels

  • @mfcman2k7

A grinder and waterstone. The same as in my sharpening a skew video.

  • A couple of tips you might want to take on board:

When you set the marking guage (cutting guage is prefrable) set the spur just to the edge not past the work piece.

Clamp a square section of wood on to the line to give you a good guide for chiseling

I would recomend a bevel edge chisel rather than then the fimers you are using to get better corner slean out.

Try to be more controled in you paring and WATCH YOUR FINGERS. Try to guide the chisel between two fingers.

    Hope that helps.

  • 2:22 very useful tip. I always instinctively start chiselling exactly on the line and always wonder why I end up having removed too much! Simple, but very important bit of advice there.

  • you could do with a sharper chisel

  • What measurement did you use on the dovetails at the beginning?

  • hi. do you have a video of your router table?

  • @Smorton123

No but I may do one at some point in the future.

  • Good job mate!

  • Good job, Alex. I've done dovetails using a router and jig but I've never attempted hand-cut dovetails. I'll have to try it some time.I like the fact that you're not limited to whatever jig you happen to be using. I've got a side table in the plans for the near future so perhaps I'll add a drawer with hand cut dovetails...Yea, that's the ticket!

Take care Alex, and good luck with that bandsaw. If I remember correctly you're trying to make one like Matthias Wandel made, right?

    Larry

  • @Larenzoid

Yer its matthias's one,I do not usually folow plans but I wasnt sure where to start with a bandsaw so i bought the plans. Its a great rugid and well designed machine which should run pretty smooth with any luck. Although it does seem it to cost more to build than I first expected, although it costs less than a commertial machine with the same specs and it is a great personal challenge.

  • Cant wait for the bandsaw video. Im planning on purchasing one in the next week

  • Another useful video

Looking forward to your bandsaw project video :)

  • not bad son good joint for your age

  • Good job:)

  • make a vid on your bandsaw?? :)

  • @tomgeorge1234

Yup, thats the plan with any luck next week but you never can say... should be a knid of montage of video clips and images.

  • Great vid I was lukin for a vid on how to make dovetails
