  • "In the middle of the afternoon!?!?"

"Not everybody is from Boston, John."

I swear, I love this movie so much! The fighting, and almost certain defeat of the Declaration is exactly true. It happened that way. It's a miracle that it was ever passed.

Nothing like Bill Daniels, although I saw Bret Spiner play John Adams on Broadway in 1999.

  • I am fascinated by the shades of black on the screen.....

  • I can just imagine what John is thinking throuout this... "I have a wife, I have a wife, I have a wife..."

  • Singing along doesn't work very well when you have an extremely sore throat and can barely talk.

  • I honestly have one word to describe this entire song: Giggedy!

  • ACFan120 Thanks for the idea, my darling peep!

  • He admires them both great-Lee...Did you lie comfortab-Lee

  • its mr. feeny!!!!!(:

  • Can someone explain to me that subliminal message.

  • OMG Thomas Jefferson is a very inappropriate presedant

  • 4:57 My favorite part in the whole movie. :)

  • dancing with two strangers who could be lying about being who they say they are. good idea

  • @whimseywoman

When I first saw this clip, I hadn't watched the entire movie, and when I looked it up, it said quite a few cities, as in where is was set. So I wanted to know where this particular scene took place.

  • "At my age, there is little doubt the pen is mightier than the sword."

One more little risque quip there. XDD

  • @TheMusicmanMB Ben Franklin was a dirty old man.

  • We watched this in Social Studies and at the very end when she says he plays the violin someone yelled "LIKE A BOSS. "

  • Who wouldn't know that this is in Philadelphia?... unless one is very young and not from USA?

  • Oh, but such a dress is not good for activities such as beds are required for!

  • dear mr adams

im taking my wife back to bed

    kindly go away ;)

  • "Perhaps I should have written the Declaration. At my age, there is little doubt that the pen is mightier than the sword."

    Franklin, ftw

  • "Incredible" appears to be a favorite interjection of John Adams.

  • @DrMeepie incredible...

  • Gotta love Mr. Fenney

  • Because of this song, I've been telling people to "Go fiddle themselves"

  • @ACFan120 frick yea I'm using that!!!!!!!!

  • If I had a dress like that I would wear it. Every. Day.

  • "That's it john, where taking up the violin."

  • KHAAAAAAANN!!!

  • "Yes, what does Tom do now?"

    "Why, just what you'd expect..."

    And the perverts rejoiced...

    "...we danced!"

    Me: *phew*

  • That settles it I'm taking up the fiddle lol

I actually saw this movie in my history class today and I can't get this song out of my head

  • New York obstains. Courteously.

  • Mr. Feenyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

  • @carlyecar44 holy shit! that's mr. feeny?

  • "Franklin did this. Franklin did that. Franklin did some other damn thing..."

  • Too bad Betty Buckley didn't get to play this role. She was a much better singer and just as photogenic. I guess Hollywood nepotism has always trumped talent. I Broadway this song stopped the show.

  • Where does this take place?

  • @tori52798 The story is set in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

  • I saw this in school :3

  • I hate the women's styles, but she swings around in it and makes me wish I was about 5 years old and happy to spin around in a dress again.

  • That is it....i taking up the violin!

  • When heaven calls to me

    Sing me no sad eulogy

    Say I die, loving bride

    Loving wife, loving life

    For it was hi-hi-hi-hi-diddle diddle

'Twixt my heart, Tom, and his fiddle

    And ever 'twill be

    Hi-hi-hi-hi

    Through eternity

Poor little darling. She did die, so young.

  • @mmacknight95 I am so glad you do too :)

  • The violin is his penis.

  • @coconutgrove8 Tumblr history Peeps, ftw.

  • @coconutgrove8 Really? I thought it was a euphemism for Jefferson going down on her :oP "He plays the violin, he tucks it right under his chin" Lol

  • @coconutgrove8 and he tucks it right under his chin..

  • "Don't worry, John, the history books will clean it up." lol

  • That's Blythe Danner, Gwyneth Paltrow's mother. They look alike, don't they?

  • @MuddleThrough4yrs they do

  • @krunk4theking Gwyneth is actually in this scene. Blythe was 5 months pregnant during filming.

  • @muribes 5 months pregnant and she was corsetted that thin? Whoa.

  • @saveourplanet14 You guys are kidding...that's 5 months??? o_O

  • @MuddleThrough4yrs Apparently she was pregnant with Blythe when this movie was filmed...in her first trimester :)

  • @MuddleThrough4yrs Augh, I meant Gwyneth, sorry :)

  • @MuddleThrough4yrs I think Blythe is more pretty though just my opinion

  • @RYansAdams79 I agree. But really comes down to preferences. Blythe Danner is a classic beauty...her face is smoother and rounder, whereas Gwynneth's face is sharper and angular, which is a more modern standard of beauty.

  • The Little Ben Franklin Monologue that John gives about what the history books will say was actually the speech that John gave at Franklin's Requiem Mass. leave it to Mr. Adams....

  • :]

  • hmm. they skipped a part

  • John can be very socially awkward...but very romantic too :)

  • LOVED this musical! X3

  • Lovely.

  • she looks kind old..but great song!

  • i just finished watching this! i love this movie and this song! XD

  • YEAH!! THOSE POWDER PUFF NERDS!!! There Detroying Memories here!!

  • Great scene, good musical, unfortunately yes, you will be eventually asked to remove or suffer a penalty, at least that's what I was threaten with when I posted the same. S U C K S!.

  • @pugliesej True True! People need to see videos like this that have meaning and really character. if they want to delete videos why not Justin Bieber i mean what he bringing to the teens of today?

  • @krunk4theking

Bieber's bringing them what the want and who are you to complain.

  • @sapph920 when you think about it, the media packages people, bands etc, to get there penthouses and there five star hotels that they own. Alot of the time we think we like an artist but in time we see them for who they really are. I have a right to voice my opinion, and you have a right to call it complaning. In the end i'm a fan of the old school music much like these videos. I'm nostalgic, are you?

  • @sapph920 It's that kind of thinking that is driving this country's music industry to the gutter. "Oh, let's listen to Justin Bieber's music because he's popular and insult everyone who says otherwise!" That's right, keep on swallowing the Kool-Aid and believing what the masses want you think. God forbid you should think for yourself once in a while.

The only reasons that so-called "artists" like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga are here today is because of marketing, not talent.

  • @spicyechidna94 totally agree with you!

  • @pugliesej YouTube is unAmerican! 1776 rocks!
