  • Plasma TV's heat up REALLY fast. Even though the color is AMAZING, and all of that, but for gaming and stuff like that, get LCD. You won't be able to burn an image in your tv, your tv won't heat up, and you'll still get an amazing picture!!! I have both, and I game on the LCD for many reasons. The quality is just as strong as a plasma's, don't be fooled.

  • You did forget to mention that Plasma Tv's create alot of heat, so if you watch it or leave it on long enough .....in time, you will actually end up burning the Tv, till' it no longer works, this happened to my Plasma Tv in 08 ....dont believe me? well next time you go to a store where they sell T.V's. , touch a Plasma screen, and then touch a LCD T.V. and find out for yourself,...even LED tv's dont heat up as much like Plasmas,.......overall, stay away from Plasma Tv.s , they suck big time !!

  • If you're Bill Gates rich then go buy a TV over $2000 thats LED and over 60'. If you want to conserve money then PLASMA is cheaper and provides better hz refresh for action stuff. LCD consumes less power however. LED is the BEST tv out there but its damn expensive and to most people not worth the extra money.

  • If you enjoy fast action movies and sports and want real colors than go Plasma. However if you wacth mostly Nickelodeon and and SpongeBob SquarePants then led/lcd is the way to go.

  • Nobody cares

  • @210482fmj. just turn the brightness down on it and it should be fine

  • crt was nicer on the eyes. with all lcd or plasma or led tvs i still feel like i am being dazzled with a lightbulb or led. in effect you are viewing a tv which has a lightbulb inside of it or led. the whole problem is in order to view them comfortably you have to turn the contrast down to make them comfortable to view and then this present the picture being to dark. there ok for movies but for web page viewing crt was far more comfortable.

  • plasma or lcd for porn ?

  • Plasma and LCD suck. CRT has best picture.

  • for plasma gaming sucks, do not try wii with plasma

  • the wiehgts are funny. led 50" is what 20 LBS lol.

  • About those upconverting DVD players, you can just get a PS3 with a HDMI connection (it MUST be a HDMI if you want it upscaled, component wont do) so you get a bluray player, upcoverting DVD player and also a gaming console all in one ;)

  • plasma is better, unless you're a stupid hippy enironmentalist. But its hard to make m much bigger. LCD is better for your electrical bill, can reach bigger seizes. But I don't think many people would go bigger then the plasma behind that guy. So: if not much more expensive? go plasma :-)

  • Plasma's. LCD is like a computer monitor. If you like bright images all the time without the deep blacks and nice colors, that is LCD for you. And Plasma's aren't that dark anymore. I just bought a Panasonic and have the settings in the middle. It can be much brighter though I wouldn't want that. Rich colors and deep blacks make the Plasma the best picture. And burn-ins are very rare with modern Plasma's. I play the PS3 on it all the time.

  • PLASMA

  • P L A S M A

  • none go get a Laser Veu or wtf is called its only 1 billion $ u get it for 5$ in 3010

  • Led anybody??

I got a new samsung 65 inch led HDTV

And the samsung 58 inch plasma and I won't lie, I like my plasma better!!

    PLASMA!!!

  • before i watch the vid i know its plasma :P damn i have both plasma really cool lcd really sux :P in the dark places

  • shitt !! plasma is dark do .

    lcd is much much brightner.

  • Any HD tv is going to be bad ass when upgrading from a standard definition tv. I'm happy with my LCD but then again, I never owned a plasma.

  • why do noth tvs look so different? the bottom one is much brighter. top is not bright at all

  • the lcd screen is much brighter isnt that good? despite contrast loss?

  • Just bought a Panasonic 42' Plasma 720p. And damn am i impressed, although not maximum resolution it kicks ass for my price range, gaming and movie watching experience are maxed :D

  • I have heard that you cant play ps3 games on plasma due to burn in screen problems.....i need to know whats up.....i want to get a plasma because i hear the picture and color is better.....and i have a ps3 i will use for blu rays on it.....but i also want to play games (alot) would this be a problem at all? i am very careful with my electronics.....i wouldnt leave any still image on the screen....will playing video games hurt a plasma as long as the screen is being used and not on pause?

  • whats better for gaming and for watching movies ?

  • Plasmas are the best for HD but lcd's last longer can be used as a computer screen and no burn ins an they use less energy. in the summertime a plasma can really make a room feel like a sauna cause of the heat

  • Hey guys, i see a lot of you are posting witch is best for HD games and things like that and i thought i would answer them, yes i have both a plasma and a LCD, both 50 inch, Hd games on my LCD look stunning, i couldn't compare, 1st person shooters, go for a large LCD, plasma, yeah its ok, but when i get close it seems like an old sd tv, i don't know why, the pixels are huge! not in that was but as a descriptive way, lac is just vivid, liquid crystal display! sky hd words great on lcd too!

  • lcd rules man samsung ftw

  • but can you still watch a plasma in a lighted room.

  • which ever lasts longer and looks better

  • lcd

  • lcd

  • whats best for hd gaming ? lcd or plasma

  • LCD cause in plasma it can burn your tv

  • wats better for hd gaming and normal tv?

  • HD is always better because you can get the best experience from your games.

  • @aramistech Not at all, ever hear of hdtv gaming lag?

  • @aramistech Not at all, HDTVs cause lag, because they cannot scale up the image being output by the console. HDTV's are the worst for gaming, they make most games completely unplayable.

  • @aramistech yh you can get best experience from it if its a games console that supports HD like PS3, if its the last gen consoles, then stick with the normal Tvs

  • @gamemaster012345

    plasma is bettor for everything.

  • @gamemaster012345 plasma, dont be scared of the "burn in scare." if you break in a plasma tv for 100 hours, you shouldnt have any problems unless you try to burn in an image.

  • @gamemaster012345 u r a game marster n ask sumthing stupid like that ?

  • @quakj This was done 9months ago...... Does that answer your question? -_-

  • @gamemaster012345 no not @ all

  • Go with Plasma, for crying out loud. It was the first technology available for flat panels, so now they are cheap, cheap, cheap! A 50in 720p Panasonic which would have cost 2k three years ago can now be had for as inexpensive as $699 and the picture in high def is quite stunning.

  • For me PLASMA RULES. It still looks awesome for movies.

  • @aramistech Burn in is wack though

  • @gray70 my 42" cost (720p) $699 with a sale price

  • got a blue ray player for 179.99 today, gotta love boxing week sales!

  • Warning lcd is 0,05-0..010 mini sec slower than a normal tv, monitor thats slow for sport, shoot games, fight games, race games, and every thing what fast is so if you are a gamer don´t buy a lcd thats a big mistake buy a plasma that is fast as a normal tv, monitor and it is sharper and tighter and if the screen is a little bit darker than a normal tv, monitor no problem go to setting and do brightness higher. than is every thing perfect.

  • @RaymondYtube You are not going to notice that difference

  • @RaymondYtube Hey dude. You sound like you know quite a bit about TVs. How about getting in on this argument I'm having with this idiot that says LED and LCD TVs are the same thing and LED TVs only come in small sizes.

  • I said OLED,not LED..you just prove your ignorance by calling me a idiot.

  • @FlaKr1daH You dumb ass. The whole conversation was about LED, not OLED. That's what the other guy was talking about and that's what I was talking about. OLED is pretty much the same thing, except it uses organic compounds to make up the material, hence the name OLED, or ORGANIC LIGHT EMITTING DIODE. Now you're just being a fucking tool and arguing for the sake of arguing. Get a life.

  • I still said the OLED's are only available in small sizes,I don't deny that LED TV's (Still LCD's.) have better image quality than the regular LCD's,hell they even beat most plasmas..but then there's the price and not everyone is ready to pay for it.

  • @FlaKr1daH And like the idiot you are, you're talking about something NO ONE else was. You said there was no such thing as LED lit TVs. You were wrong, just admit it. And as far as saying they're still LCD, moron, that's talking about the panel itself. LED is the source of lighting and it gives off a MUCH better picture than LCDs. You're right. You DO have better things to do. For instance, I thought I told you to go fuck yourself. Have you done that yet? Be a man, admit you were wrong.

  • @bandit7498 1st you were wrong in telling the guy there was no such thing as LED TVs. Then after I corrected you, you started telling ME the TV I'm talking about is an OLED, which is not what I was talking about. Never mentioned it infact. Then when I GAVE you an example you tried saying YOU weren't talking about LED, but OLED, when infact you were supposedly telling ME I WAS talking about OLED. See, you're just a blithering fucking moron that has no fucking clue what you're talking about.

  • Actually,I would never say there's no LED lit LCD-TVs,but I just said there is no LED TVs,and by that I mean TRUE LED TV's (OLED.)...I never even said the LED TV's aren't good..they are..if I had the cash I would buy a LED LCD TV right away..so sorry if I pissed you off..after all this is the internet..peace?

  • Now just get over it,I got better things to do than arguing with a overly aggressive person.

  • LED backlight televisions are currently available in sizes ranging from 46 inches to 70 inches. Traditional LCD televisions are available in sizes as small as 15 inches and as large as 65 inches. When comparing LED TVs and traditional LCDs in the same size the LED backlit model will be more expensive, in some cases vastly more expensive

There is certainly a much larger number of LCD TVs being produced today, with LED televisions demanding a premium for the often better picture quality

  • yeah, that's pretty much EVERYTHING I already said in a nutshell.

  • Booring...

  • all plasma's hd?

  • the old plasma built around pre 2004 are not HD, you have to look for the HD label on the TV.

  • yeah, just found out mine wasnt hdtv :(

  • the answer is.... LED

  • There is no LED,it's still LCD..

  • @FlaKr1daH lololololol..... Actually there is an LED. It's currently the absolute best picture you can get, goes up to 240 Hz and costs a small fortune. But with it's 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio it's worth every penny. The reason that guy said the answer is LED is because LED addresses problems with both plasma and LCD. Definitely the best thing going right now.

  • The LED you're talking about is named OLED,OLED is available in small sizes, they're expensive so far and won't work that long..in 2015 it's estimated that OLED's will be cheaper than the current LCD..all LED TV's you see in the stores today are still LCD,read up about it.

  • @FlaKr1daH WOW. Someone knows jack & shit about TVs. Actually I was just looking at a 46' Samsung LED at Best Buy, 120Hz. So you're saying the 240Hz is a gimmick huh? Doesn't fix motion blur? Wow. That proves you've never seen one of these TVs. Smaller sizes you say? Fuck dude, I've SEEN a 55" LED with my own two eyes at Best Buy. So what the fuck do YOU call big screen? All you're doing is a bunch of guessing. LEDs, or light emmiting diode TVs are NOT the same as LCD, or liquid crystal display

  • Also,240Hz is a gimmick,it does NOT fix the motionblur problem completely since that comes from the way the LCD's work..also,as far as I know, the contrast ratios are bogus..there's no real way to measure it.

  • Nice video...I will add that if you want a tv smaller than a 42" inch, you are better off with an lcd, plus it will be really hard to find a plasma that size anyhow.

Plasma are great for movies, sports and gaming. 600hz beats 240hz by far, and lcd sets are going to have trouble ever getting that high.

I have a Panasonic plasma, and it doesn't hum like a Samsung plasma, and has a great viewing angle. Samsung are over rated by CR and BB.

Mlg pro...I've never heard that before!

  • sound is off on this video. which one in this video is the plasma, above or beneath tv?

  • The LCD is below, and the much bigger Plasma is above.

  • And the sound's now off. Check you're volume and/or speakers, pal.

  • la pequena es LCD

  • Definitely plasma. I own both and LCDs still have too many issues: motion blurring, poor black levels (except for the very expensive LED-lit LCDs), less saturated colors. And subjectively the pictures on LCDs always look a little less realistic, with garish colors, crushed blacks and an overall more digital, less natural image quality.

I used to defend LCDs a lot. But that was before I actually owned a plasma.

  • Finally someone puts it like it is. Plasma is the best of the 2. Eventually another technology will replace plasma but I don't think it will be LCD.

  • It'll be OLED that takes over in about 4-5 years time.

    Until then, it's plasma ftw

  • Do plasmas get hot?

And what's better? LCD 1080P or Plasma 720P?

  • 1080P, its a higher level of resolution I believe, but 1080P is always better than 720P, whether its LCD 1080P vs Plasma 720P or LCD 720P vs Plasma 1080P

  • plasma 720 by far i have one and it blows other tvs out of the water

  • lol he said "to convince the wife" ha. i thought that was funny...

  • Yes because for most guys the problem when buying a flat panel is not the money, but it is your wife letting you spend that money. :-)

  • Comment removed

  • Plamas usually have the best screen quality for colors like the blacks. I have noticed that the LCD technology has advanced alot so maybe in the future they will be surpass the plasma. You are right, for gaming I rather use an LCD which will not get a burn in like the plasma. Thanks for the input.

  • yea your right. like 1 1/2 years ago i was lookin for a lcd, they were blurry in fast motion. i bought a lcd tv like 2 weeks ago and there was a massive difference between that and wut i saw previously

  • hey i was wondering what to get for my son, a plasma or LCD they play the ps3 alot so which tv would be better?

  • LCD LCD LCD!!! I use my LCD 32" Samsung for my PS3 almost all the time, and when you connect it using an HDMI cable, the picture just looks amazing. And LCD's are cheaper.. I think..

  • Not really.

For the 50" Panasonic Plasma V10 you pay about 1800€ in Germany and you won´t ever be able to get a similar LCD for this price in this size ... impossible

At the moment plasma is better than lcd. But both techniques will get unimportant as soon as OLED screens conquered the market ;)

I think big OLED screens will be affordable for everyone in 5-10 years.

  • I don't live in Germany..

I have both a Plasma and a LCD and I can tell you when I play my PS3 on both of them, my Samsung LCD out shines the living CRAP out of my Panasonic Plasma downstairs. The LCD is smaller also. My Panasonic is a 50 inch and my Samsung LCD is a 32 inch and my games look SO MUCH better on my LCD.

I did some research on the OLED's and they look amazing! I can't wait to get one once they become affordable, if they do, lol.

  • first off samsung is a better brand for tvs anyways, second plasma is better because of the response time for the refresh rate whether your talking video games or not, and third you should never play video games on a tv that is above say 40 inches that is why your video games look so much better on your little screen than your giant ass tv. i have a friend thats an mlg pro and he always uses like a 20 to 30 inch screen

  • Good point man.

  • yea cuz ur gaming plasmas are good for viewing television b/c with gaming a chance for picture to burn in On tv the picture's always moving so it wont burn in

  • I have a Panasonic G10 plasma and I can almost guarantee games look better on it, than most LCD's. And lets not even talk about movies.

  • For me it is like doing a cook out with charcoal, or using gas. You can't beat cooking with charcoal. But most people have been suckered into using gas and believing it is better. This is the way I feel about plasma, plasma is charcoal. LCD still has ways to go.

I also do gaming and a 50" plasma looks alot better for my gaming than the lcd. That is only my opinion afterall. You have to get what actually works for you and your usage.

  • im not saying that plasmas dont produce a better quality gaming experience cuz they do i am just saying what i know about pro gamers and they all use lcds under thirty inches just because plasmas cant go that small they dont want a huge screen to have to focus on they want it small tight and really close to them

  • whats he talking about how standard tvs wont work?:S mine still does

  • Buddy I guess you don't follow the news. There was a digital transition scheduled to take place but congress delayed it so, the one that has no idea what they are talking about is you.

  • please explain more? im kinda lost about this .

And yea i have heard in the news about this but they dont explain anything .

  • All TV signals have gone digital which means you will no longer get over the air signal with rabbit ears. All signals will be transmitted digitally. If you are using cable you will be able to see your channels, you might need an additional box to view all the channels. You can do a search in google for more detailed information. Best of luck.

  • none.... DLP thanks

  • is a 780i lcd "hd ready" tv HD?

  • I don't understand exactly your question, but all new TV's today are HD ready.

  • soif its hd ready that means its a hd television?

  • All new TV's Plasma or LCD are HD ready.

  • Glare pisses me off, I think I'll go with an LCD. XD

  • Anyone know the way to go when choosing a tv for the main focus being movies and blue ray? The prob I am having now is seeing these blue ray demos at the store and the videos looking more lifelike than cinematic...is there a way to aviod this? LCD or Plasma? Which will give the more "movie" look vs the reality?

  • Most movies on blue ray are going for sharper more accurate resolution so the cinematic effect has somewhat dissapeared. My choice is always Plasma, it has the riches blacks and colors. Even the games look amazing here. Hope this helped.

  • Hello, in your case I would DEFINITELY recommend plasma. The will give better motion, black level, viewing angle, etc. I love Plasma but fortunaltely cannot have one because I am a very AVID gamer, and I don't watch movies or TV. So for now it's LCD, until OLED comes out!

  • It's not called 720DPI and 1080DPI as he says in this video.

    DPI = Dots per inch

  • 120hz, 400hz,700hz, you won't tell the difference, I didn't

  • yay i have an lcd

  • LCD has come a long way. I have seen lately some LCD panels that look really good.

  • Yes, the Bravia XBR 9 with 240 hz has come VERY close to matching plasma level motion. LCD can be improved even further, but it won't really matter once OLED comes out as that will blow everything out of the water.

  • one of his favourite feautures is....

    the weight?

    LOOOL

  • Believe it or not I do consider the weight a feature since when I buy a TV I always check how heavy it is especially if I'm going to mount it on the wall.

  • if you are a pro you should know the new LCD's look almost the same as the plasmas. go look at the LN46A650 or LN46A750 they have ultra clear panel and a whole bunch or other grate things about it too. but gases are blowing up in the plasma tv. but thats just my opinion GO LCD

  • Samsung Lcd at 50000:1 color ratio is simply tha best Tv on market period.I couldn't belive what i was watching.

  • Watching a Plasma or LCD with a nice blueray player is awesome no matter which one you use. I admit that the LCD screens are getting better all the time. Thanks for your post.

  • I actually just got a 1080p panasonic plasma (vera) with a 20000:1 native ratio and a 1000000:1 dynamic ratio. So how do tha blu rays look on these things. Do images look cinematic or life like?

  • Hey I TOTALLY AGREE!!! And Jason, Sharp has the best LCD except it's so expensive. Their latest is 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Ratio.

  • Yes PNMax7 is right. LCD is the right choice for gaming. You can burnin images on the plasma.

  • Ya but 120hz is nothing close to 400 to 700hz on a plasma. What do you think, is 120 enough?

  • LCD

  • i want to buy a plasma tv and will have the tv on for an average of around 10hours a day

how long will the tv last (if left on for these amount of hours everyday), before it 'burns' out or wotever its called?

  • Typical Plasma TVs last about 20,000 hours before video degradation begins.

  • TranswarpXL is correct. plasma TVs use gases. Plasma gases decay over time. However, this wearing out is slow and gradual. Generally, the lifespan of plasma TVs is 20,000 to 30,000 hours

  • Cool vid. Thanks for the information. I'm going to be getting a new HDTV soon and the Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ85U seems to interest me a bit. I've heard good things about both plasma and LCD and that plasma is for movies and LCD is for gaming, I will be doing both, so I'm not sure if I should get LCD or plasma.

  • if your going for a computer monitor, LCD!! ^^

  • Yes you are definitely correct. LCD is the way to go for the computer.

  • But anyways Pioneer Kuro's Own ALL!

  • whats wrong with the audio????

  • I hear it just fine, check your speakers or volume.

  • the beginning intro i can hear fine but when you start to talk at 0:18 i cant hear nothing, i try to turn to audio way up but all i hear is a buzz when i do.

  • It's only coming out of the left channel.

  • Yes it is because my camera microphone recorded the audio Mono.

  • lcd is just better............................

  • Personally I love plasma because when you put a movie the blacks looks better than on LCD so the movies look stunning.

  • now im confuse , im inlove with plasma because i do watch a lot of movie and play little video game but i also need to use it as computer monitor too, if i watch a lot of movie that has black bar on top and bottom would it cause burn it? i dont know y but i always like the 720p plasma over the 1080p lcd though

  • I would not get a plasma to use as a computer monitor since you will eventually burn images on the screen, also plasma screens emit plenty of heat, so you wouldn't want to work close to it. Your best bet is to get an LCD which would be better for your needs. 1080p will give you more desktop realestate. Hope this helped.

  • thank u so much, that helped me alot and thanks to the way things are now ( somewhat ) 1080p cost almost as cheap as 720p , thanks again!

  • I'm not to sure what tv to buy. I want it in the living room which has a big window oposite to the wall i want to mount it on. I seen lcd and plasma's at stores and plasma to me has much better picture. I also realize plasma has no delay it has a 0.1ms response time and 1 million: 1 contract ratio whereas lcds have only 60,000:1 contract and 3-5ms response time. Please help me, i like plasma because of its picture but i don't know what be best for my room. LCD i noticed has pixilation closeup.

  • Simply put, if you have a large window and plenty of light coming into that room you want to consider LCD for a TV. But my choice is plasma. Flat panel TV's have changed so you may be suprised to see that some LCD TV's look really good. Hope this helped.

  • i have no idea what to do now. i play lots of xbox 360 and i would like to hook my computer up the the tv. but i love sports and movies and what the best pictures for that as well. on the lcd tvs when you watch spots does it look bad? well i notice a big difference because i like havin people over to watch the games

  • I would recomend you get an LCD since you seem to spend plenty of time playing games on your XBOX. Sports will look good on there too. For movies I do love the plasma but it seems LCD would be ideal for you. Also keep in mind where you are going to put the TV if there are windows with plenty of lighting or a dark room, that detail will be important when getting the TV. Hope this helped.

  • Thank you. Your video was very helpful.

I was going to go for Plasma because I watch a lot of movies and sports, but the TV will be right next to a window and Im not sure how that would look.

  • Your very welcome, I'm glad it helped. I had one of my plasmas close to a window and the glare took away the quality of the screen so I ended up putting up an LCD which has no glare and since it is so bright the light from the window does not matter.

  • Thank you, I appreciate it. I have both the LCD TV and Plasmas, I have more plasmas than LCD because I love the riches of the colors, blacks and also the screen is glass. Overall plasma is the winner for me.

  • thanx for the vid!!! i am a movie lover and i watch t.v in the dark. plus i LOVE nascar . the only thing i dont like about plasma is the burn in thing. so how do you know if the t.v has the screan saver?

  • Your very welcome, I'm also a movie buff and plasma is the way to go. You are right the burn in of images on the screen is a problem, especially with channels that have their logo in a corner and it does not change. The 2 plasmas I have have a screensaver for when you leave it on with no signal for a long time, but this does not help the screen if an image is paused and left on. Most of them have this feature now. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • great review i think you covered it all. The plasma had way better colors but The lcd was too bright

  • Thank you I appreciate your comments and I'm glad you liked it. I do agree the LCD is very bright, Movies on the plasma look awesome and the colors look so rich. My personal favorite is the plasma.

  • Yea prefer the plasma too. Even My Vizio VP322 kicks most lcd's butt.

  • I agree, while I love the way my movies look on the plasma, the only problem I have with it is the glare on the screen. Any little light or window can create an annoying glare. But it is still the perfect TV for hometheatre.
