When I really think about this war, the Holocaust, the huge battles, the evilness and the good it seems like a fairy-tale. A Mythological story, a dark tale about a war for the good of man kind fought a thousand years ago but it happened less than a hundred. This war will be told for thousands of years and will always be known as an era changing war against evil. It will become a story, a lesson, a chapter. 1939-1945 was more than a war it was something way more. Nothing glorious but changing
My grandmother escaped the Nazis just before things could get out of control. Her parents sent her to Canada with her little sister (who was a few months old) and her brother who was 15. She got in contact with the last cousin that made it through the camps. The stories he told were... chilling. She never heard from her parents again :(
@Litterboxer529 my grandfather survived Auschwitz but never saw any of his relatives except for his uncle again. He told me the stories of what he saw and they're heartbreaking :,(. He and his uncle came to America after WW2 without a word of english known and 20.00. Luckily he made it and he has an amazing story. less your grandmother too :)
@InfernoWarfare Thats good he survived :). My grandpa actually liberated Weinmar camp in early 1945. He was half-German and half-Polish, so he spoke German fluently and he was also Jewish. He's still alive. My grandma is too. They lived in Israel a little while then came back. Since then all the men in the family have done Israeli service.
SPOILERS: Is this the scene where the ashes are falling from the burning Jewish bodies... and then the little girl in red's body is piled onto the fire? Because that scene really got to me. This was simply a spectacular movie... one of the very reasons Spielberg is my idol. When you can touch someone through motion pictures and powerful music, then you've done your job... the right way... and John Williams helps piece it all together in such a tremendous way.
So powerful...just close your eyes and imagine the "Passion of the Christ's" crucifixion scene! This was John William's last Academy Award winning work! (till today, I hope)
