  • i couldn't remember what color "mystery house" was when i used to play it,

so googled: "apple II orange or green screen?" this was the 1st result.

speechless. the best non sequitur i've run across in a good while. thank you.

  • You are an artist! You found an old roommate's poem, wrote a gorgeous song and coded over 3000 lines of basic just to celebrate how much you loved that poem, and how much you loved Jed. I love you!

  • I remember feeling exactly how he feels and that's why this always makes me tear up

  • was that the mac making the noise or u singing?

  • Woah... could you give me the code for this?

  • great video great song, I just got a Apple IIc today but sadly I don't have the OS floppy or anything.... would love to do some coding on it cause I happen to know basic. need to get my hands on prodos or apple dos or something.. oh well

  • @DylanMayhew All you need is ADTPro. For more Apple software, just look for the Asimov FTP archive.

  • Brilliant song. I love this song very much, but I wish it were longer.

  • Nice song!

  • I can confirm that this works on a //c and a //e.

Nice job, that's a lot of code. I could never create something nearly as spectacular as that.

  • Very artistic!

  • What Beck is he talkin bout?

  • @FreudRulz "that" Beck, I guess

  • Cool songs

  • what song?

  • i like the labels for this vid!

    nice song

  • fuckin awesome!

  • Nice vid. LOL. I remember when I used to program these in assembly language. It didn't even have a proper divide or multiply instruction. I had to write my own. IT was so horrible. You could do some pretty cool things, but it was so limited since it only had 48k of ram. 4% of a megabyte, lol.

  • great work man.

  • finally done w/ my homework ne1 4 chat? S

  • wow. someone spent a lot of time on that. good job.

  • I've never wanted an Apple II so bad in my entire life...

  • ah, it's only brain washing. Relax. :-).

  • Haha: HHHHHHHOOUUUSSSESSSSSS ...

Really great video, wish I could do that ;)

  • do you have the code for download??

  • *sniff* beautiful

  • Great video!...must have taken FOREVER to program.

  • Also the end is zo beautiful and sensitive! And the music of Grandaddy is a great choice!

  • What's in line 9000?

  • It's probably just some program house-keeping. Perhaps I should make a PC version of this that could run on Windows and/or Linux.

  • You mean 900? A comment.

  • Well there's a GOSUB 9000 statement that seems to repeat itself within the code. Applesoft Basic supported only one user defined function at one time and sub-routines had to be done with a GOSUB and RETURN statement.

  • it's the character animation routine. (i would store the next text line in a string and send it to my subroutine to plot one character at a time.) i open-sourced the code so you can download it from my site. google "stewdio" and "jed's other poem."

  • Beautiful!!

  • O__O niiiiiiiiiiiiice ~.~

  • exclellent video! i could watch it over and over all night!

it makes me want an apple II, funny

  • great Video

    -_______-

  • this is a awesome video, great job

  • Excellent!!

  • whats that song called nice vid

  • The song is called "Jeds Other Poem" by Grandaddy

  • thanks

  • TOO COOL! I USED TO WORK WITH AN APPLEIIc IN COLLEGE, 1983. WE HAD HIGH RES. GRAPHICS CLASS. PEOPLE TODAY DO NOT REALIZE HOW ADVANCED COMPUTERS WERE ALREADY THEN, DESPITE SOME OBVIOUS SLOWER SPEED AND LOW MEMORY.

  • EPpic music video... one of the coolest ones i have ver seen. Sweeet song to.

  • the song (Jed's other poem [Beautiful Ground]) should be in the movie info

  • cojonudo

  • great

  • wow

  • remind me of matrix .

  • that rock, bravo, good poem 2

  • i really like this thank you

  • oh my... i thought it was just handy editing... but hey! it's a textmode demo in fact .)

  • :P I was crazy; I downloaded this song, and attempted the same programming (perhaps revamped in a way) on my Apple][ ... I didn't do so well, but... I DID manage it on Amiga BASIC *thumbs up*

  • GREAT!

  • song is "other poem" by Grandaddy

  • whats the name of this song?

  • The Coral - Pass It On

  • Oh, that's not this song. My bad.

  • Ryan Zorad is a fag

  • Amazing!!! I love this. Subscribed!!

  • Grandaddy really write beautiful music, i'm amazed alot of people here have never heard them, they are fundamental listening for anyone that loves music.I'm sure some people will say it's boring, coz it's slow, but they are amazing at creating space and spine twisting hooks, much like Low. mmmmm yeh space, it's the gaps that make things great.

  • Nice music video... except for the music

  • That was the most awesome video i've seen ever. BASIC FTW

  • It's open source!

  • awesome. i was hoping that would make someone happy. my code's a bit messy, but it got the job done.

  • It does sounds like postal service to me

  • Thank you.

  • I actually teared up watching this. Man.... Jed and Grandaddy are amazing. RIP.

  • The song is "Jed's other poem" by "Grandaddy"

  • I told my two year old brother about how you thought this sounded like Postal Service and he called you a fucking retard. Enough said.

  • the only reason you could think that this is like postal service is if you have not heard enough music in your life. at all. listen to more.

  • I didn't say the music sounds like the postal service, I thought the singer sounded like the postal service singer. Damn, I'm sorry I sent so many people over the deep end by uttering the words 'postal service'. I don't even know why I comment on videos, assholes like you people make youtube intolerable.

  • Rofls. You speak the truth.

  • this is a wonderfull piece of work!

  • what the hell????

  • This is awesome.

  • I was hoping for a chiptune. Still, very good. Makes me think of Gary Gilbertson's 8-bit music demos.

  • this is a song by Grandaddy.

  • whats with the bad sining in the begining wats the name of the song can i download it anyware?

  • really sounds like the postal service to me. The music is a different style than the band's.

  • egad never compare grandaddy to postal service. bleah

  • bloody excellent

  • amazing.

  • fucking awesome

  • great video!

    perfect sincronization!

  • really good movie

  • Nice, very high-tech!!!

    User, 1964

  • awesome video, VERY creative!!!

  • WOW that's skill. Too bad my Apple ][+ is broken. :( Do you have a site with entire source code of how to do that?

  • yes. google "stewdio" and "jed's other poem." you can download my source code as text or a disk image for an apple ][ emulator.

  • is there one For Terminal?

  • Freakin funny and clever!

  • Just incredible. Awesome work done!

  • Holy Crap!, over 3000 Lines of Basic!

  • yes. heavy

  • yes. heavy

  • Over 350 lines. NOt 3000.

  • One word summarizes it all:

    wow.

  • To sandflyfever: It looks like it was programmed. The guy lists the BASIC code that was used to create the display at the end. It was possible to create time delays using loops, turn the cursor on and off, and position the cursor and text just using code.

  • this is the perfect visual accompaniment to that song. great work! did you program it or is it stop-motion animated?

  • i programmed it.

  • Thats REALLY good.. Really..

  • lol
