  • Man it would be awesome to work for Mr Branson. Just imagine how unbelieveable projects he might have in mind!

  • Apparently James Cameron is getting there first - by the end of March, actually!

  • It was a pleasure to watch, it was a pleasure to hear the accompanying music!

  • is so amazing

  • What if they find gigantic dinosaur like sea monsters that try to eat the submarine?

  • YES!

  • JUST LAUNCH THE DAMN THING ALREADY! I really want to see more of the bottom!

  • This submarine looks a bit dangerous in the sense that it's quite small

  • @levierdragon well that's because the thing is made up of titanium and some sort of speacial fibre

  • I want to know more! I believe that someday we´ll reach the very bottom of our ocean! What does it hide over there? Giants fish? On thing for sure, we´ll discover new species, thanks to the Virgin Oceanic sub!

  • Good luck for they.

  • who the f@#k dislikes this?????

  • Props to Branson for doing such cool things that he can release trailers for them. Richard Branson = Lawnchair Larry + several billion dollars of disposable money.

  • That'll be hectic as. Finally we may start to uncover some great things from the greatest depths of our oceans. I bet we'll be surprised.

  • i can't wait for it to happen!it may change all our views on this world forever!good luck guys,i will follow the latest new with a huge interest...

  • wow... that's like going to outter space

  • I want to see what lies on the ocean floor. Hurry up Branson!

  • Ok but he never made 1 deep dive yet!

  • TSFH? ANyone?

  • So does this thing actually exist?

  • That is freakin cool. I need to stop watching this

  • This is just spectacularly amazing to think that of all the vessels which have been to points at depth of many oceanic landmarks, this vehicle would be able to achieve all of them and beyond! Simply amazing!

  • I hope there isn't some kind of underwater Star Wars deep sea monster down there.

  • And then a giant monster appears and end of submarine.

Once a virgin, always a virgin.

  • You are a wild man Mr. Branson.

  • only this:Amazing!!

  • @Hypergalactica The point is that it's not explored at all. The manned Trieste reached the bottom of the Mariana Trench, but that was it. The two divers had a view of 5 feet away in one direction. That's hardly an exploration. Branson is taking this to a completely different level.

  • I love this, but the Challenger deep is NOT unexplored - Jacques Piccard and Don Walsh took the bathyscaphe Trieste to the bottom of the planet in 1960. And unlike most things these days, the first ever expedition down there was actually manned.

  • They're gonna regret it when they stumble upon the sunken city of R'lyeh wherein the great Cthulhu and his starspawns sleep...

  • Chuck norris can free dive down down into the mariana trench

  • Pioneers, hope they find something interesting down there

  • Interesting....I'm learning just now that officially there are 5 oceans on this planet.

  • If you are interested in more information about the idea behind the sub watch watch?v=qZ7wL4gIzCE It is a google tech talk with Graham Hawkes, the lead engineer behind the technology.

  • 5 people can't respect other. This is very hard and dangerous journey. How the hell you thumb down this.

  • What's next Richard?

  • @tobigforyou Core of the earth ?

  • @OshMMf lol

  • inb4 toursits disapear together with sub. and when the rest of the sub is found they find tentacle marks around it.

  • Richard you are awesome.

  • Krass..!

  • まるでガンダムのコアファイターのような色合いとフォルム。でも乗ってみたいな。

  • まるでガンダムのコアファイターのような色合いとフォルム。での乗ってみたいな。

  • Like it! Atmospheric images and music.

Also nice usage of SurfaceSPREAD ;-)

  • Can't wait to see what's down there...specially the intelligent beings. I reckon this will trigger the end of our civilization - as predicted for 2012 - simply because we'll become a new civilization, mixture of humans & aliens...o_0

  • @MONIMAS1 hahaha

  • Resembles a whale shark to me ( : . Glides through the ocean similar to one in my eyes.

  • Richard Branson = Bruce Wayne

  • WOW -Another big step for human challenges!

  • Is does not matter, if are money in the backround. He is hero, I hope he will be sucessful! GO Richard GO! :-)

  • Beautiful

  • wow! :O

  • Anyone know how much this is gonna cost to ride on?

  • We are so busy looking up that we never look down :)

  • @samery2k But don't look down too much, you gotta look in all directions in order to be fully aware. Branson does this very well with Virgin Galactic and Virgin Oceanic.

  • @samery2k Precisely! there is so much to find out...=(

  • Color the Sky by Two Steps From Hell, great music

  • Now we can all find out if Megaladon or other dinosaurs still exist. I personally think it would be exciting to see what wildlife exists at those depths. :)

  • hope he doesn't die

    he might find aliens?

    looks like a whale

  • @frvfilms yeah i really hope so.its just amazing,im speechless

  • Hes gonna find atlantis. It will be deep, ir will be massive, it will be ........Amazing. I think ill stay above water thanks

  • Excelent!

  • get it out there...develop it later but just being the first to claim the idea is a massive brand bonus Sir Richard...great stuff! Glad your a good guy....what would you be like if you were a James Bond Bad Guy?

  • This is the way bilionares should act! Hats off to you sir Branson.

  • i hope they use night vision and night vision type lighting i would hate for them to attract the attention of something huge and the sub be dragged away into the abyss never to be seen again

  • how is that puny sub able to withstand those depths?!?! its so unconventional design. ...

  • @8wealthyone8 That's what I was thinking through the whole video. Have they found a new alloy that can withstand such pressures?

  • @Ashitaka255 long time ago, it's made of carbon

  • @Ashitaka255 long time ago, it's hull is made of carbon and the dome is made out of quartz

  • @8wealthyone8 it's hull is made of carbon and the dome is made out of quartz, it can withstand up to 22.000 pounds of pressure

  • @joi76 no it's made out of diamond and adament and lined with gold and silver and has precious jewels encrusted to power it!!

  • whats the music?

  • @Biocide201 "Color the Sky" by Thomas Bergersen of TSFH. If you want more look him up on iTunes or look up the album Invincible by TSFH. He has an album coming out very soon, Illusions.

  • We could put this money to cancer research.

But then we said Fuck that, lets go to space and then the deepest part of the ocean!

  • @DotsOnALine You don't get it do you? You can't just specifically fund cancer for research and expect a solution in an instant. Most of the time its discoveries and technologies from one branch in science and engineering that leads to solutions in others. Also, this is his choice, which is a far better choice then what many other rich people do.

  • @zzzIdividedbyzerozzz You don’t get it do you? It was a joke.

  • @DotsOnALine Sorry then bro, its just a lot of people out there literally say that.

  • can it go down to the Titanic?! i really wanna see the Titanic wreck at the bottom of the ocean ... :D

  • thumb up if kaskus bring your here..

  • This Video shows what big dreams can be!!!

    GREAT!!!

  • carbon fiber n titanium... awawaw...

  • when will we get the actual deep sea recordings?

  • Umobtanium = unobtainable + -ium this is a made up material, but there are 69 people thinking it is real :P

  • Wow! There is a whole universe down there to explore!

  • music?

  • @l8s4n

Music is "Color The Sky" by Two Steps From Hell.

Composed by Thomas Bergersen, to be precise :)

  • @Mondisto thanks :)

  • Dios que video tan precioso, hermoso y fascinante no me canso de verlo

  • Oh it's going so bad with the music industry.. downloading is killing all their income.. my ass! if you can afford this.. it's nowhere near bad

  • Music is by Thomas Bergersen check him on YT and FB :)

  • So that's how Richard Branson is going to kill himself.

  • holy fuck

  • this man is a hero!

  • @BigMTBrain - thanks mate! Wery interesting stuff they do indeed:-)

  • music is by Two Steps From Hell - Color the Sky

  • this is just publicity, or at least the final product will look nothing like that. a bunch of brooklyn hipsters probably produced this clip, not any engineers

  • @sportsdrb look at QDdhK9zlc8w

  • Pass, dont feel like getting eaten by the Krakken

  • Wow

  • teh awesums!

  • Very cool. :)

  • Sir Richard - Thanks for continuing to innovate and inspire!

  • Viaje al Fondo de la Tierra!

    H.G.Well Real?

  • There is no way that anything shaped like a shoe box with wings will ever get that deep without getting crushed, It would have to be spherical in shape to stand at least a chance.

  • @thirteendreams

You misunderstand. The actual internal pressure hull that holds the pilot *is* spherical. It's the only part that maintains 1atm pressure inside. The rest is exposed to outside pressure and as a result is in no danger of implosion.

Most subs are like this. The bulk of the body is exposed to ambient pressure, and only the crew cabin is depressurized.

  • The music sounds like Robin Guthrie from the Cocteau Twins. If it isn't him, it's someone copying him really well.

  • @TheMiguelFierro - See my other post to SYGOBEYOND.

  • Richard Branson = fucking hero :D We need more people like him, innovative billionaires will do what was supposed happen years ago.

  • just ask yourself, is it better to die in a plane crash, or to be crushed by water mass underwater =)

  • i think Richard Branson is a pretty cool guy. eh dives in teh oceans and doesn't afraid of anything.

  • this is wonderfull

  • Could it be Mike Oldfield? He is a good friend of Richard, and the sound¨is much like the "Songs of Distant Earth" album...

  • @SYGOBEYOND - It's movie soundtrack duo "Two Steps From Hell", consisting of Nick Phoenix and Thomas J. Bergersen. They have spent the last seven years or so developing a sound design company, Quantum Leap, that produces the best sampled instrument libraries. They are very creative, prolific and famous in the industry. This song, "Color the Sky", is from their 2008 non-public release, "Dreams and Imaginations", but you can find all of their music on YT here: /user/TwoStepsFromTheMusic

  • Its Fine!!

  • I think this animation do reflect reality in future.

  • good luck !!

  • Very nice! What will the price for a journey like this be...?

  • branson is the antichrist and will enter hell at the bottom of the trench in 2 years, 2012

  • I really wish I was rich enough to afford an experience like that.

  • can they first focus on making their internet with virgin media less shit

  • Richard Branson is awesome!

  • @timkoren13 :)

  • Carbon fiber & titanium

  • Does anybody else notice "virgin" namebrand is booming now.Great job, Still want my ticket to the galaxy hotel.

  • hav to do this before i die

  • wonder what materials will be used for submarine...hmmm

  • Checkpoint reached!

  • I'm happy that Sir Richard Branson is helping today's generation with his money. He is sharing his money with the world. He's also givng us something more important than money: knowledge.

  • Leave it to Richard Branson! :)

  • Too bad it's such a short video & song

  • At first I thought it was a airplane/submarine. Ruined my day!

  • There goes my dream.

  • Richard Branson=real-life Batman

  • @acceleratorist

I secong the notion. Living Bruce Wayne!

  • i thought u guys were trying to get into space?

  • @yaHARmeMATEY they already are

  • This is simply awesome! Mr. Branson, you are the man.

  • is unobtainium even real?

  • @soren919 it's just very hard to obtain

  • Dear Santa...

  • I love Richard Branson!

  • I hope they find gigantic sea monsters! would be insane!

  • Крутой аппарат! Сам бы с удовольствием занялся исследованиями на нём :)

  • Guess this music will be played at Bransons burial after he was compressed with

    1100Kg/cm2.

  • At those depths there is no light other than what they bring and the bioluminescence of what lives down there. Not to mention that this submersible will only travel at 3 knots so this video really isn't giving us an accurate depiction of the expected experience. At those speeds and with such limited light, it's like trying to discover something new in the sahara with a blind fold on, while walking.

Still, I wish them luck. It's a bold expedition.

  • First test and go to NASA Biggest Vacuum Chamber for test how much go to deep, If Something will blow up or human's brain blow up ( Like same Mt Everest. higher go sick )

  • Branson does not do things by halves.

  • This video made me cry.

The music! And the thought of the humanity reaching so far!

    Go go humanity! :D

    WE ARE FREAKING AWESOME!!!

    FUCK YEA!!!

  • Virgin Oceanic’s first dive will be to the Marianna Trench later in 2011, and a further four dives are scheduled over the next 24 months, subject to receipt of all required regulatory approvals.

  • does anyone know who the music in the clip is by?

  • Now we can finally make contact with the Otollo-Gungans :-)

  • Well and good but there is no light in the ocean depths. Light, it is impossible to penetrate.

  • There is no limit for Sir Richard and all the people that work for Virgin. There is no limit for the humankind imagination. God bless you in this expedition !! deep in the ocean and high in the space !!!

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

  • Ok. So WHEN are they doing this stuff?

Is there a facebook page for live updates?

  • Man, this makes me excited... we really need to explore the frontiers we have left!

  • Is there any place to download this awesome song?

  • respect you Sir

  • Should have used Tubular Bells for the music...that's what got Virgin going!

  • anyone know the song played in this video?

  • This is why I want to get into oceanographic engineering!

  • I honestly would like to know what materials this sucker will be made up that will withstand more pressure than a military sub, which is made of steel.

If one of those can't go below 3000m without crushing, and they are huge, how can a sub this small go deeper? What materials is it made of to do that?

The one time we have been to the Mariana's Trench in a submersible was one meant for deep diving, and had a hull several inches thick of steel, and even then it was dangerous.

  • @Draknfyre

The Bathyscaphe Trieste, only manned sub ever to descend to the bottom of the Challenger Deep, was also steel. It could withstand more pressure precisely because it was smaller, perfectly spherical, and had a hull that was 5 inches thick.

This new sub will have a titanium hull, not steel, and will house only 1. Also, a *quartz* bubble cockpit. Provided it's expertly forged with no imperfections (micro fissures mainly) it should be able to withstand more pressure than the Trieste.
