  • Oh sorry I see you are from Trabzon a greek City with still a turkicized greek name, its ok I dont take this bad from you, see you like my blood Brother who forget many centuries of history and hates. This is not propaganda Xenophontas at 4th century B.C. writes if he and his soldiers see Trabzon and other black sea cities Ellinidas poleis it means Greek cities.

  • @61engine53 The other hand in your propaanda head. One big city have 100.000 population, only the free citizens with their families plus thousand other city and many greek tribes who dont leave at cities at all. Koine is ancient greek who is for the time of Alexander the Great the pontians speak this language, Greeks from Greece speak neo Greek who is the children of the ancient language at the centuries. You speak slavian ancient Macedons speak Greek :)))

  • if herodotos are right..trojan war was not 1100 b.c. but 3100 b.c. we know how old this dance is... Achilles danced it before going for war against the greek Trojan army... dont forget Trojans were greeks too... not persians or turks ;-)

  • David Lloyd George -"Through Terror to Triumph"(1915)

"What have the Turks ever contributed to culture, to art, or to any aspect of human progress that you can think of? They are a human cancer, a creeping agony in the flesh of the lands they misgovern, rotting every fiber of life."

  • "Pitchiak-oin" is this pontian, if so can someone translate the words please?

  • @61engin53 it means dance of knife

  • @Elenio68er My aim was to make a point. There are lots of Christians from the Blacksea region making a lot of claims including pontians being greek. My point is pontians are pontians (a mixture of Romans, Turks, Armenians, Georgians, Persians and Greeks) speaking a language which is also a mixture of their native languages. BTW "Pitchiak-oin" is Turkish origin (Bicak oyunu) meaning "Game of knives". There are Christian and Muslim pontians nad that is a fact that can not be denied.

  • @61engin53

Ionia, Lykaonia, Paphlagonia, Pontos and all other regions in Asia Minor have been ancient Greek colonies and homelands for thousands of years. There was born Herodotus, Strabo, Asklepios, Saint Nicholas and many other personalities of our ancient and latest history.

The colonies in Pontos were established by the Greeks of Miletus and Megara who were Ionians and Dorians.

  • @OrphicHymn That is typical greek version. We are fed up of greeks trying to own anything and everything. As the saying goes "it all sounds greek" as you keep adding -is,us,os to everything to make it greek. No need to discuss, Pont was a Persian empire which had some greek speaking citizens.

  • what? pont empire was persian? Boy u r smockin sth

Yep the vast majority of the dances and music have ancient roots, many were christianized other were banned by the church as pagan and were adopted by muslims(and we are thankfull for that).

This doesnt mean that greeks did everything, it just started from ancient greeks. Turks adopted some and put their own infuence in it, im not a stupid nationalist to deny that.

  • @dimalex8 Well, a hard but realistic greek with a strong tongue. You must have roots in Anatolia.

  • my roots are from trebizont, infact my grendparent was one of the last greeks that left pontus but he left after his brother was killed by a group of die-hard turks(note: these stupid nationalists exist everywhere, in greece, in turkey etc. Dont take this as an attack against the turkish people).

I know about these dances and music cause i study music and made an essay about the roots of many traditional music and the roots are from ancient greek festivals and hymns dedicated to the greek gods

  • @dimalex8 Well, hi there, as I am from Trabzon too. 61 stands for Trabzon and 53 is for Rize.

Let's get on e thing clear so that we both understand each other. Your grandparent's brother was killed by a muslim just like thousands of muslims were killed by the orthodoxs christians. It is not a one way street. After over 400 years of peacefull living Pontus dream clicked an idea in some minds and the end result was not nice for both sides.

  • @dimalex8 Most Rums (Orthodoxs christinas were all named as "Rum millet" by the Ottomans without considering the ethnic roots) have mixed roots and you can not honestly say exactly what you are. You may be of Georgian, Laz, Kuman, or Turkish descent if you are from the Blacksea region. It is not a surprise to see you guys playing Blacksea songs and play the Kemence, tulum or davul. Lets hope that megalo idea does not find its way into the Blacksea region as the kickback would be very hard.

  • if u knew greeks better u would know that megali idea is long dead. only greek nationalists(we have the lowest % of nationalists in europe for ur info) still believe in that. Megali idea was in different times and different conditions, nowadays is stupid to apply this policy. Also megali idea was started from the great powers and was stopped by them also. Nowadays its clear for anyone who knows basic politics that greece is in a defensive position, cant say the same about turks.

  • @dimalex8 Megali idea may seem dead to some reasonable Greeks but it is not dead as we have a lot of missioneries traveling along the Blacksea coast and trying to make people that they are of Greek origins. It is ironic but true. The same megalo idea supporters tried something in Cyprus and we all know what happened. If you do not believe me watch the videos on youtube called "Attila 74". These are videos from a Greek Tv show in Greek with English subtitles.

  • @dimalex8 Countries which have eyes on other countries always use the old names. Unfortunately including youre government members still use the old Roman name Constantinople for Istanbul. Trapezeus for Trabzon is another example. There is this fixed idea in majority of the Greeks that Turks are like Mongols. Turks have been in the Cacaus area even longer than Greeks or anyone else but this is something very hard for you to understand. We are of Turanian descent just like Bulgarians or Hungarians.

  • @dimalex8 I would recommend for you to read non-greek historians not necessarily Turkish historians but specialist in the middle east region. Do a search on Turanians then you would understand the roots of Turks in Turkey. Azeris are Turks, do they look like Mongolians?

    All the best to you.

  • i dont read greek historians except when i want to read about the ancient times. I recomend u to read the description made by byzantine(note byzantium for me was not a greek empire) historians about the characteristics of the turks when they arrived, they looked nothing like european.

  • @dimalex8 The biggest problem historians make is the assumpiton made about Turks. Turks are like a tree root with so many branches. Coming across with one or two branches made them believe what they saw. Turks were either named after their leader or in the area they lived. Their common base was the Turkic languages which is spoken by around 200 million people in the world. If you put them all side by side you would never say that they are of the same origin.

  • @dimalex8 Look at the Karamanli Turks, they spoke the purest Turkish but used Greek alphabet. As a result of being Christians they were also forced to move to Greece. They are now pure Greeks.

I am sure both nations as they stand have so much mixed blood that it is all stupid to argue anything. If someone starts swearing at me or call me mongolian, then I start to answer him in an ironic way.

What is important is the future, if it was left to me I would not have sent a single person to Greece.

  • @dimalex8 One last thing, most Turks in Anatolia are of Oguz branch of Turks. When you see a Kipchack or Kuman Turks they are mainly Blond and tall people if they did not mix much with other branches or other ethinc roots. But again who can tell about the ethnic roots the mixture was so deep, the politicans based the immigration on religion rather then ethnic roots. Please do a search about Turkish languages and Ottoman sultans in the early days of the Ottoman empire.

    All the best.

  • @61engin53 There are Turks who are still believers of Samanizm, or accepted the Jewish religion. There are Christian Turks. The Christian Turks of Anatolia and the Thraces are now Greeks. Probably more Greeks than you are :). There are Gagauz Turks who are Christians with Christian first names and Turkish Surnames.

These are undeniable facts. There are Kipchack and Kuman Turks who were paid soldiers of the Byzantine army and became Christians and were assimilated and lost their Turkishness.

  • @61engin53 actually they look like mongolians...

  • @Alkmini80 So what?, Mongolians are human beings and definitely cleverer than Ethopian camels called gayreeks. -:))

  • @61engin53 personally i'm white so...your comment wasn't that successfull!:)

  • @61engin53 ayip sana "kardesim"...kiskanma!!!

  • @Alkmini80 :)))))

  • as for ethnic roots, u r right. Although in ottoman empire it would be very rare for a turk to be hellenised but the opposite was very common(like for example the jannisars). If we take what aristotle and plato wrote about the difinition of a greek(educated, respectfull, honourfull, valour, honest etc.), then the truth is i try to be a greek, as matter of fact every man tries to be a greek(again according to plato & aristotle).

  • @dimalex8 As a citizen of Greece you may have honest opinions from this side of the water the picture is not the same as what you see personally from your side. In 1996, Greek parliment accepted 19th of May as "pontus genocide day". If that is a friendly approach, the meaning of friendship in both countries are like the two ends of a magnet. We Turks on this side have absolutely no eyes on any neighbours land.

  • @61engin53 That is the joke my friend...if Turks have no eyes for greek land then WHY ARE THERE SOOOO MANY TROOP TRANSFERING LANDING CRAFT ON THE AGEAN???? ARE THE TROOPS GOING ON A CRUZ????

  • @triantis35 sure, Turkish soldiers wear proper soldier clothing not skirts and they need to go on holiday to get some air around their balls.

  • @61engin53

Btw, the pontian dialect is one of the few Greek dialects deriving directly from the ancient Doric. And the ending of pontian surnames is the most ancient of greek surname endings

  • @OrphicHymn Romeika is written in latin alphabet, it has at least 3,000 Turkish words in it. Kuman-Kipchack Turks were along the Blacksea coasts long before the greeks colonized the area. Most names are in Kipchack Turkish, and typical greek approach of adding -is,us, os makes no difference. If you take away the greek addition from the names it is so easy to see the Turkish names.

  • @OrphicHymn Karamanlis (Karamanli - from Karaman) was a Turkmen christian. Ottomans made a mistake and send all the christians to greece. All the names ending with oglu- ouoglu (son of) are of Turkish origin. You actually call them "Turkish seeds" in greece. You should be proud of having a Turkish prime minister like Karamanlis. :)

  • @61engin53

The Osman Turks settled down in Bithynia 1231 A.C, at the beginning they were 400 families. The turks weren't a nation, that's why they had no national-language. They communicated with each other with a vocabulary of not more than 200 words. The protogonic, wild, Turkomongolic language wasn't sufficient to communicate with the civilized Mediterranean World.

  • @61engin53

The Turkish language is a medley of words from the Arabic, Persian, Latin and the Greek language. Many of the Greek words came into the language thru the Arabic-Persian route, but also thru the Armenian language.

The Turks, ca 50.000, appeared for the first time in the east-borders of Greece (Anatolia) at 980 A.C. They were nomads who leaved Turahan due to lasting drought.

  • @OrphicHymn Here is something for you to swallow;

    greek - Collaborative International Dictionary of English v.0.48 : Greek \Greek\, n. 2. A swindler; a knave; a cheat. [Slang]

[1913 Webster] 3. Something unintelligible; as, it was all Greek to me. [Colloq.] [1913 Webster]

I wonder why the British saw the "greek" name appropriate for you Greeks? :D:D

  • @61engin53

LOL learn the basics you illiterate prick!

The word "greek" derives from the latin word "graecus" and not from Grex-Gregis = thief etc. LMAO. Graecus derives from the greek name "graikos" - the greek dipthong "AI" is always translated as "AE" in latin.

GRAEKOS son of Thessalos and greatgrandson of Pelasgos.

    Etymology:

"Graios" contraction of the word "Geraios" (Ge+reo).

Graios, Graikos has the meaning of "old autochthonous"

Greece was also called Graia (Graia, Gaia = earth).

  • @OrphicHymn I think it is time to come over there and put chilly pepper in your mouth you little dickhead.:))

If there is something you don't like why on earth all you greeks try to insult the other side. Why don'y you do a dictionary search for yourself. Churchill named you greeks=a swindler, a thief. Haven't you heard the expression "it all sounds greek to mw?" well if you haven't you must be living in a shithole.

Wakr up boy, your above explanation is all greek to me:)))))

  • @61engin53

"it's all Greek to me. It is beyond my comprehension, as in This new computer program is all Greek to me. This expression was coined by Shakespeare, who used it literally in Julius Caesar (1:2), where Casca says of a speech by Seneca, deliberately given in Greek so that some would not understand it, “For mine own part, it was Greek to me.” It soon was transferred to anything unintelligible."

  • @61engin53

"The world heroism I am afraid does not render the least of those acts of self-sacrifice of the Greeks, which were the defining factor in the victorious outcome of the common struggle of the nations, during WW2, for the human freedom and dignity. If it were not for the bravery of the Greeks and their courage, the outcome of WW2 would be undetermined"

    Winston Churchill 24 April 1941

  • @OrphicHymn Just as point of interest......Greek Pontians were the big factor in the winning of the WWII

.Zhuckov was Pontian.....his success was do (from his memoirs)to the deep battle offencive(taucht by Triandafylov also a Pontian)other Generals Zacharov,Pavlov,Leonov, and sooo many others the names of which dont escape me at this time

  • @61engin53

"Hence we will not say that Greeks fight like heroes, but the heroes fight like Greeks."

(Sir Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom)

  • @OrphicHymn Well the greeks have enough Turkish blood in them so they have become good fighter :)))))))))))))))))))))

  • @61engin53

lol whatever, according to you even Homer was a turk.

  • @OrphicHymn LOL, who the hell is he? :D:D:D

  • and turks have enough greek, the name jannisares ring any bells? Or u just think that turks became 70 mil. in 400 years and greeks stayed the same amount?

  • @61engin53 That is a good point "the jack ass called the rooster BIGHEAD"The Brits the big civilised concorers of the world....called the greeks greeks because they didnt know the meaning of the word.Todays greeks are Hellenes ....they always were.

  • @triantis35 Pull the one in the middle and you will have more seeds for more greeks :)))

  • @61engin53

lol yeah, we know, you live in the area since 100.000 BC and Homer, Thales, Herodotus were actually "ancient Turks" and the bad Greeks are trying to steal your history! .......... and now back to reality. The only thing your mongol forefathers accomplished was to assimilate and turkify the conquered populations to convert surnames, islamizing people, force them into speaking turkish and kidnapping christian children to use them as slave-soldiers.

  • @OrphicHymn Your history lesson sounds all greek to me :))). There are 170 million Turkic speaking people in the world. At leat have the decency to get away from the brainwashing greek approach and learn about the other side. You can LOL, you can try to convert the world to be greek. Who cares?

  • @61engin53 I didnt know stop and shop waas giving history lessons.......When did you buy those history books were they on sale????

  • @triantis35 Well you seem not to know much. Let me give you directions; You nned to be in Athens, follow signs to Athens university, disinformation center. Ask for Prof. Bullshit writer, I am sure he'll give you more lessons on how to rewrite history and even steal history. A good example is to claim that Romans were greeks, or Macedonians were greeks or Albanians for that matter.

  • @61engin53 Let me quote you e few ANCIENT writings my friend .....shit why bother.....Well let me ask....Who built Rome???

What did Alexander say to his Solders before the battle of Granikos... What did Herodote say about Ilirians who spoke a BAR BAR languagè?? YOU KNOW NOTHING OF HISTORY....WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF PELASGIANS

WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF EGYPT.....First of all if you dont know the greek language is hard to know history because all the ancient writings are in Greek...

  • @triantis35 Now it is my friend session :)))

As I said, anything from Athens university, or anyone paid by Athens university is for you greeks to read. For real history we read real historians. Dummies are dummies.

  • @triantis35 "Modern Greeks are direct descendents of the Ancient Greeks" (The greatest victims of Greek lies are the Greeks themselves) There were no "Ancient Greeks" since the word "Greek" was not coined until after the Roman conquests, approximately 600 years after the establishment of the City States and approximately 150 years after they were conquered by the Macedonians.

  • @61engin53 how about the roman name "magna Grecia " that was used for the south italy by romans when the big colonization of south italy happened ? And why you stuck on a name , Greeks have many many names from the ancient times till now ! for example : Greeks ,Hellenes , Romioi , Danaans , Dorians , Achaeans , Iones ( yunani haha ) and many more ! And seriously i cant understand what all these have to do with the modern Greek roots , your way of thinking is weird :P

  • @triantis35 The name "Greece" was imposed on the modern Greek Kingdom by the Great Powers Britain, France and Russia. Modern Greeks call themselves Hellenes (Ellines) and their state Hellas (Ellas).

By using the name "Greek" to refer to both the ancient and modern people, the Greek state falsely implies descent for the modern Greeks from the ancients.

  • @61engin53

Barbarian, the name Greek is used by us , in order for you to undestand. The name we use to define ourselves is Hellenes, not Greeks nor Romans or anything else.On every hellenic script, the word used by our ancestors is Hellenes.Modern Hellenes were, are and will indefinately be descendents of ancient Hellenes. We know our ancestry. You on the other hand..............

  • @GrigorisGRI You can read books from Athens university propaganda machine. If you were descendants of ancient Greeks (who by the way numbered at max around 100,000 people in pocket city states) you would have been able to speak the ancient language not Koine Greek which has almost 10,000 Turkish words in it. 50% of present Greek population are Macedonians and Albanians, at least 30 % are of orthodox Turkish people from Anatolia (you call them Turko Sporos). That is the other hand.... :)))

  • @triantis35 In reality the words "Greece" and "Greek" were popularized by modern 19th century writers. There are no ancient maps or references with the words "Greece".

The Romans may have made some references to the ancient people living in Sicily as "Grecos" but they referred to the region south of Olympus as Achaia.

During the Ottoman era the people living south of Olympus called themselves Romeos (Romans).

  • @61engin53 The name Romans ( romios ) was adopted by greeks when the capital of roman empire moved from rome to Constantinoupole . Constantinoupole was called "New Rome" so the citizens called themselves roman or if you hellinize the word "romios" ! Like it or not most of the population of byzantine empire ( the core of it) were greeks , so as the continuers of the roman empire , called themselves romioi !

  • @triantis35 THE TRUTH: The modern Greeks are not only NOT direct descendents of the ancients, but their Greekness is a myth, a modern 19th century creation.

  • @OrphicHymn Oh, before I go, here is a taster for you from a Greek source;

    Karamanli publications

The Karamanli books (written in Turkish but making use of the Greek alphabet), published by Orthodox Turkish-speaking people of Asia Minor and printed at the big printing houses of Venice, Smyrna (Izmir) and Constantinople (Istanbul), have nowadays attracted the interest of Greek and foreign experts.

  • @OrphicHymn all your names with oglu or ogluou endings are pure Turkish names. It simply means "son of" . Names like Kazanci, zilci, corbaci are names driven from the work they do. To hellenize them you've added dis, dos or similiar endings. Kazancidis means a person who builds large pots(Kazan in Turkish)

  • hmmm in ur place i wouldnt mention this, remember jannisars? Yes there was hellenization of some but the turkification of others(like jannisars) was much larger.

These are all names given by turks, it is only naturall that after 400 years the turks gave some greeks a nick-name which the greeks later adopted as surname.

  • @61engin53

On the 26th of November 1979, the New York Times wrote quite characteristically : "According to the most recent statistics, the Christian population in Turkey was diminished from 4,500,000 at the beginning of this century to just about 150,000. Of those, the Greeks are no more than 7,000 Yet, in 1923 they were as many as 1.2 million". (After the massacres of many hundreds of thousands).

  • @OrphicHymn 5.5 million muslims Ottomans were massacred by Armenians and Rums(Christian Romans) as a result of being given the "freedom bone" promise. The slang meaning of greek is defined as "a cheat" "a liar" "a deceiever". Well everyone who claims to be greek fullfills the meaning to the end. If you kill people, their reliatives would definitiely would kill you. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, as the saying goes.

  • @61engin53

George Horton - The Blight of Asia

"At the time of its destruction it is probable that the inhabitants exceeded 500.000 in numbers. The latest official statistics give the figure as 400.000, of whom 165.000 were Turks, 150.000 Greeks, 25.000 Jews, 25.000 Armenians, and 20.000 foreigners."

  • Orea Lyra! alla k kalos xoros!

  • zoramos are you crazy? 900 years? do you know how to count? haven't you be teached mathematics in the school? why is 400 hundred years?

  • SERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRA!Na zisoun ta Sourrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmena!

  • na zisi o pontos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anyway this is excellent music, excellent dance - this guy that plays the lyra is really a pro! Respect!

  • Zoramos, the lyra you call kemenche can be seen in byzantine pictures and predates centuries the Ottoman empire. If you search for original turkish music you will have to look for Turkmenistan, Ouzbekistan and to tell you the truth I have seen and it is nowhere similar. My advice is that anywhere you look at dances in a circle like this these are certainly of Greek ancestry, all nations that have similar dances happen to be around Greece (SE Europe and Minor Asia).

  • The dancing was very powerful and that musician - he makes his playing look absolutely effortless when it's obviously not the case! I'm so proud to be Greek. Thank you much for posting these videos.

  • 900? I guess you're lousy at maths.

1.When the Greeks were playing Lyra and composing music, you were climbing on trees in mongolia.

2.Lyra is an ancient Greek instrument and according to the Greek tradition god Hermes created the lyre from a large tortoise shell (khelus) and gave this lyre to his half-brother Apollo.

3.Turks occupy Pontos and are trying to steal the pontian dances and music in order to erase the millenia old Greek Culture and History from Anatolia.

  • When you came from Central Asia as nomads you had Nothing, you stole everything from the Greeks and Arabs. Food, dances, language, architecture, simply everything.

  • Totaly agree with you. Turks have nothing to be proud of, no culture no history. They stole everything from other cultures and countries and claiming for their own. Among all these, they are claiming pontian music and dance to be theirs. Thanks for posting this information, coz people have to nkow about our history and culture.

  • not only dont they have anything to be proud of but . they have that whole genocide , rape , murder , slaughter and look the other way thing going on for them
