It is just a shame that alco is out of business...I think they had a good thing going with the century series locomotives.. My fav alco's are the 630'2& the 636's... As with any new loco's they did have there bugs, but the alco did fix em before they shut there doors.. The SP&S was a big user of those monsters..
hey, great video you shot.. One of the best horn blows I have heard in a long time.. What maked it even better is hearing it on an alco or mlw... Unfort at csx we battle communities who want us to stop blowing the horns at crossings...Thankfully, not all of them can get the quiet zone status... To all that complain, I say blow em loud& longer!!!!!
I keep watching this clip over and over. It is an orgasam of sound for the railfan's ear! I just consulted the Canadian Trackside Guide 2008, and the 3000 is a former BC Rail unit. I knew that horn had to be BC. The ditch lights gave it away too. Thanks Ed!

Yup!!! Hell, yesterday we were plowing snow with the train to try to keep the line open, and we nailed a car yesterday. Broadsided him!

Alco power and a K5H, it doesn't get much better.
Only SR6133 with its M5 or CP2317 with the CN 5'er could top this.

Fantastic Nathan sand cast K-5H! But a Nathan K-3L would be even better...
