Haha i laugh at you. you really need to check out Skyview they are way better. ya meads good it also helps that u all have private lessons a band is only as good as the students want to be maynard ferguson could teach some1 one on one but if he doesnt practice if he doesnt care he wont amount to anything. Ya Terry's good but with meads reputation i was expecting a lot more
@aaronbrandyn987 What?? First of all, Skyview has done literally none of those things that I listed below. I know for a fact that they have never competed at the Essentially Ellington festival in New York let alone twice. Yeah I know that directors can only do so much, but less then a quarter of the students at Mead take private lessons. Mr. Lack (why the fuck are you calling him Terry?) plays LEAD trumpet in one of the best bands in the northwest. What more were you expecting??
@aaronbrandyn987 And actually, he does hit the A at the end. I have a recording of this exact performance at Eastern Washington University at the 2008 jazz dialogue festival. And if you turn up the video, you can hear it despite the terrible recording quality of this video.
also i could play not hit but play a double c when i was a junior in high school at 16 so sorry but to me hitting a g is nothing anymore if u cant play the notes dont try u guys have a lot to learn about what screaming really is about not just a out who can hit a high note my little sister can hit a high g doesnt mean it sounds good or she can play it its just noise
@aaronbrandyn987 Every aspect of the program is strong and there is no denying that. During my time at Mead, our jazz band was selected as one of the top 15 high school jazz bands and competed in New York. Our marching band twice competed and placed in the Bands of America regional championships in LA; and our wind ensemble was invited to play at different venues throughout the US. Its alright though, your probably just a big headed mediocre trumpeter who opened his mouth without thinking.
honestly i think terry lack is overrated and it woulda been much better if the real lead was there he wimped out on soooo many notes sounded like high es but gs were actually decent and man hes nothing compared to the lead for the army jazz ambassadors man he was screaming double cs!!!!!! so mead high school keep up the private lessons u guys need them
@aaronbrandyn987I actually graduated from mead and played lead alto in terry lack's band for two years and now am studying saxophone performance and music education. The education i received at mead invaluable to the musician that I am today. Try talking to him, he knows that he is not the strongest player in the band, and thats true. But to bring up his teaching record is a foolish mistake on your part. No other program in the northwest is as well rounded as mead's.
Lol I was there too.. there being Central Washington University. It is the local Spokane big band and the lead trumpet player is my high school band teacher
I don't know where "here" was, but it's not the LA Big Band that's on the CD. Bob Curnow just got some LA guys(a few of them former students) to record the album. My school actually had a few of them come work with our band, and then Bob Curnow came and worked with our band, man that was awesome.

What an undertaking to arrange this piece for an orchestra! I'd love to see this band live from a front row seat. Bravo!

Woot!!! I was totally here! Go Brian McCann and Terry Lack!!!!!
The Bob Curnow Band is awesome. Most of the concert was Curnow arrangements of Pat Methany's songs. My favorite song played was Heat of the Day :)

Where was here? Is there any more video of this concert or others of this band? The LA Big Band is my favorite and I'd like to see more. Thanks

what happened to the "g" at the end..?
andradejohn19 3 years ago
There was no G(or A for you trumpet players) cause this wasn't the LA big band, and that wasn't Bobby Shew playing lead.

you can just ask paula villareal from harlingen
HS in texas if she cant play that G.
because she did it when she was 17.
:]

What is your point? I know fifteen year olds that can play a high A.
