  • way to go, Headzup, I officially declare you, a muckraker. (people who wrongdoings in the government)

  • @OldsterStillLearning well, there are different views on the interpretations, and sometimes, or always, some people only say "everyone has a right to (whatever)" only if it's stated word for word, otherwise known as weak interpretation, the other party, uses strong interpretation, meaning if it's not listed in the constitution, (such as slavery in 1800s) then they deem it unconstitutional.

  • Andrew Card needs to work for the American people not insurance companies. Sell your first child while you are at it. Funny video!

  • ecwaufis, the word 'palin' also means a kind of silver tureen-lid. And most such lids are brighter than the Bushian cretin Sarah.

  • Thats just more NWO bullshit. Isn't the world scary enough without stupid "theories" like that.

  • Card and Wamp are BOTH Palin's DICKLESS and BALLESS BITCH and PUSSY! Palin is a SUPERIOR politician and statesman than these two ass-clowns could ever be. She is also MORE MAN than they are. Card and Wamp BOTH wear the skirts in their families while their wives wear the pants.

  • There are two issues that would reduce healthcare costs that are not being addressed and would have an immedate positive impact, allow doctors to write off free healthcare provided to the uninsured and tort reform. Changes to the IRS laws would encourage doctors to provide free or reduced healthcare without increasing costs to other patients and tort reform would help reduce staggering cost of malpractice insurance. These would be simple changes that would not cost the tax-payors billions.

  • HA! THIS IS FUNNY LOL

  • I want to live.

  • It's hardly an agenda, it's logic. If we don't have the money and similiar programs haven't worked in the past why would you even consider attempting another such program.

Enstein's definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". That's what a goverment healthcare program would be.

  • problem is, it hasn't happened yet.

  • Sure it has. Social Security alone was filled with IOU notes during the Iraq War when Bush was in office. Medicare have entitlements within the trillions by 2050. It can't last forever.

  • Yeah... universal healthcare.. cause we all now how awesome medicare turned out (sarcasim).

Our economy is already in the shitter as is. Even if universal healthcare was fine and dandy it wouldn't matter because if we don't stop spending so much money we're fucked.

  • Canada is kicking our ass in health care, mf Canada.

  • I got to admit its better that what the states has but they is no control on the spending. I think the program will end suddenly because the government can't control spending. Government can't be trusted to run anything, they spend like drunken sailors.

  • Medical Coverage should be based on the individual.

If you're a bad driver don't your rates go up ?

There should be some incentive for people to stay healthy like maybe you get your premiums back if you never use the system. In Canada ever bone head human is covered, drug addicts, smokers, food addicts. No incentive to stay healthy, already the costs are becoming too high.

  • What about people born with type I diabetes who can't get coverage because of the preexisting condition?

  • They're covered, they just don't get any premiums back when they retire. Like I said every bonehead smoker, drinker, drug addict, food addict is now covered in Canada. They is absolutely no incentive to stay healthy. If you're an addict why should the rest of people that aren't take care of you.

  • No they aren't. They might be covered under their parents' plan, but the minute they finish college, they are uninsurable for life.

  • That's the present system in my system people that stay healthy are rewarded, I haven't seen a doc in 5 years, if I broke my leg or had a heart attack I would like to see one without going bankrupt.

Doctors know very little about nutrition and preventive maintainance. They're a bunch of expensive pill pushers .

  • 99.9% of people born with type I diabetes are screwed and face a lifetime of poverty and inadequate healthcare. And what happens to some poor bastard who comes down with leukemia? America has the worst health care system in the developed world. Obama is going to change it and thank god for that!

  • I like the system we have in Canada but there's no way of maintaining it. Too many sick people will overtake the system.

You have to reward people for being healthy otherwise there's no way to maintain the system. You need to change the present system to reflect financial realities. The wars need to end NOW !!!

  • Canada's system costs HALF as much to run per person as America's broken system.

  • Yes but the quality of care is rapidly declining, and the number of "sick" people are going to bankrupt the system. Its OK for now but I don't think it will be in place 5 years from now.

Government in control of health care ? Doomed to fail...

    The numbers don't add up.

  • If you think the system is "ok" now, you aren't paying attention.

  • Its OK now not going to be down the road. Too many sick sheople are going to make the system useless. (That's the Canadian system) The US system is a total clsterfck , there's nothing to work with in the first place.

  • It's NOT "ok" now. I'd happily be placed on the Canadian system if I could be on it. Canada's system kicks our system's ass, and it costs half as much per person.

  • I guess that's what you get when the "wars" take priority over "WE THE PEOPLE". Its really going to get bad when the US dollar loses its "world reserve" status. The nice evil folks in the capital don't want anything good for the people. The country's bankrupt and they put a higher priority on the empire. Really hate to see the good American people suffer.

  • canada's population is about 1/6 the size of america's. the lifestyle is totally different too. aht's apples & oranges

  • Believe me Canada's health care system will implode just on the fact of so many unhealthy baby boomers. Of course some of the "treatments" will cull the herd a bit, but the way government operates it doomed to implode due to lack of funds, lack of intelligent politicians. Look at our unemployment system 50 billion oversubscribed and the idiots spent every last penny. We have to borrow to keep the program going, what a disaster.

  • i'm very happy that you pointed those problems out. i hope the US gov't has taken a look at that & designs an efficient budget. i think socialized health care is workable if people don't get greedy. but then again, that's like asking people not to breath air

  • Look how well "government" is maintaining the value of the US Fed Note.

    1971 Gold $35 US

2009 Gold $1000 US and climbing, without a sound money system there's no way of maintaining social programs. There has to be a base of value otherwise you might as play monopoly with monopoly money. The folks in DC are absolutely insane, they care very little for the American people, its disgusting.

  • i can't help but agree there. we have little GDP, there's no gold standard & the dollar is total shit. everything is pulling in every direction. the american experiment looks to be failing

  • @boots920 talk about narcissistic people.

  • i wouldn't mind having my taxes raised in order to have you locked away in a mental hospital. i believe it's the HUMANE thing to do.

  • Easy for a wealthy white man to say that! What a selfish jerk, what an arrogant pig!

(I would use words that more accurately describe him, but I would get banned for such profanity.)

  • All of those federal and state services are getting their budgets slashed (except for the military).

Those aren't rights. Those are benefits that are paid for by the taxpayer.

  • There is nothing "free of cost". Goverment progams only exist when taxpayers pay for it.

Any national healthcare is going to be paid by the middle class. The lower class can't pay for it and the upper class has plenty of ways of avoiding taxation.

It's complete madness to even consider such a program. Look at Medicare or even Social Security. They are on the verge of bankruptcy. It's pure insanity to even consider another such program.

  • Oh yea, we wouldn't want to be like France...or the rest of europe...or every other industrialized country on the planet... We're doing so much better than all of them now, just look at our economy! USA! USA! USA! USA!

  • Scandinavia is still here and it works???

What you don´t understand is that it cost to have a sick population. Sick people don´t work and people that don´t work dosent buy shit so they cost a fuck load. Poverty is a disease and it´s spreading like wild fire in the USA, and it will be your undoing because there is nothing you can do.

In Scandinavia children study for free, so we´ll never end up with your problem, because children to poor people can make something of them self.

  • Nearly 10% of the American workforce is unemployed and that number may increase. How will any state or federal healthcare progam have the funds if 1 out of 10 Americans are already recieving unemployement benefits and unable to pay taxes?

  • I guess it´s time to start ww3, that´s what they did last time when they needed to make the wheels to spin.

  • Its called fiat money (monopoly money) and the world is about to get a lesson on what money really is.

That's why you got to get some gold and or silver , fiat money is about to go to zero world wide.

  • haha, I say the same thing to people.

  • lets look at every other federalized program, now imagine their health care. EPIC FAIL

  • I'm looking at Interstate Highways....epic fail?

  • or what about that horrible, nasty hoover dam that helped bring you americans out of the depression? Such an epic fail

  • Canadians live longer than Americans and - surprise, surprise, our healthcare system is actualy cheaper per capita than the American one (look it up).

  • The only candidate for President who has proposed Canadian style single payer health care in America for the past 3 elections is Ralph Nader. I don't know if you follow our American presidential race but his best showing was in 2000 when he got 2.74% of the popular vote and was accused of "spoiling" the election by the democratic party. Americans don't mind spending trillions to kill a million Iraqis but we're not willing to spend one thin dime to aid our 47 million uninsured fellow-Americans.

  • Thank God I'm Canadian. That's all I can say. All the BS I hear from Americans about our system is false. I rarely wait at all to see a doctor-in fact I can't think of a time I've waited more than 20 minitues in a walk-in clinic in the past 3 years. I don't have to pay up at a doctor's office (it's all covered by my taxes). We may have to wait a bit for an MRI if it is not an emergency but we can get them very quickly if it is. The government has NO SAY whether I can get treatment or not.

  • To say something is a right is to say that God gave it to you. To say universal health care is a right is to imply that God gave you the right to the fruits of another mans labor, his wealth. This is not so. Our Bill of Rights states this in the property clause of the 5th amendment (though completely ignored clearly). Health care is a privilege that every American should be able to afford. It is too much govt that has made health care unavailable & unaffordable.

  • Thats not true it's when we don't get the govt just to ask questions is when we have we tend to get robed. Or a big example is when the govt. tens to ignore our problems like the housing market falling or even our dependence on Oil.

  • Health is not a right. It is a privilege that every American should have. Going even more so towards a government run system is not a good idea. It will decimate the health care system. A free market approach is needed, I mean over 45% of health care is subsidized by the govt. We are too deep in debt to afford universal health care. $ for $ tax credits for health care premiums is a step in the right directions but far more is needed. Health is awful as is & it is because of too much govt.

  • I agree but no don't tell that to Rush or Hannity. If we are able to help the people that need it the most it's Welfare but if it's for the riches people in our country they go what they earn it?? Im Curious on this whole notion that the Rich pass most of the Taxes but didn't they only pay about 10-15 percent in taxes while everyone else pays 25 percent. I wonder why can't we have a flat tax??

  • The right-wingers do not know jack about health care! All they know is bullshit after bullshit everyday, every month, every year and every decade! They are slow witted people who love to listen to bullshit from Rush " The Pig Man" Limbaugh, and Fucking Fox News!

  • i live a comfortable life and i have healthcare. as time goes on, i hope that my family will be more successful, maybe even wealthy. but i do not want to live in a country that will not help the least among us. i don't need government to pay for anything for me, but that doesn't mean i don't think my fellow less fortunate citizens shouldn't get anything. in a civilized, developed country i wouldn't expect anything else.

  • America provides for its people fine. We're just more reluctant to use GOVERNMENT to take away other people's economic freedom to do so. Or to use OTHER people's money to redistribute and spend on other people. That's not what taxes are for. But there are plenty of fine charities and private sector groups that can help poor folks. They can do it much more efficiently than some government bureaucrat handing out money to strangers he meets at the welfare office.

  • Thanks for the Untutored's Guide to Civics 101

  • You're a real piece of shit!!

  • Do you honestly think the Founding Fathers intended national healthcare?? Come on! They were very strict constructionists. The general welfare clause was meant in a strict manner, not an excuse for gov't handouts up the wazoo. Just because we use the term "welfare" in the concept of "welfare state" does not mean that's what they meant.

The general welfare is fine. The vast majority of Americans can afford health care. Only 15% or less can't. That's pretty small a number, I'd say.

  • We don't have a right to free material objects or services! We only have a right to immaterial and intangible things like freedom of speech and pursuit of opportunity/happiness. The pursuit of happiness can lead a man to become educated, get a degree, and get a high-paying job. This in turn can lead to him actually being able to afford healthcare! It's so ingenious, isn't it? How come no Democrat has thought of this before? Rather than expanding gov't and spending more.

  • Well, Card made an ass of himself, but no, healthcare is not a right. I wish you leftist and welfare statists would stop making up rights that obviously don't exist. You don't have a "right" to an education. You don't have a "right" to mooch of taxpayer dollars to pay for childcare for your kid. You don't have a "right" to be handed free healthcare at taxpayer expense.

Nothing is "free", and when you call something a right, that means it's ok to hand it out, but someone pays in the end.

  • Are there any other names and labels you would like to toss at people who don't agree with you, whoo689?

It appears that you fancy yourself an expert on "rights" and deciding you pays for what.

What do you think is driving up health care costs? Doctors fees? Prescription costs? Uninsured patients?

    Wrong!

The biggest costs are administrative...filling out insurance coverage forms. It's true, look it up.

Who has the best care in America? Veterans, from the V.A....government funded. It's true

  • Veterans have the best healthcare? Weren't the Iraq veterans living in run down hotels with rats a few years ago? What about the Gulf War Syndrome during the second Iraq War?

Not to mention the fact soliders are routinely dishonorably discharged so the Pentagon can avoid paying medical benefits, psychatric care, or even the GI Bill.

  • All true, yet all anecdotal.

The conditions you cited at Walter Reed near DC were attributed the neglect of the Bush appointed regional director. In fact, all the things you mention happened during Bush's watch. Still, across the system the V.A. is the best rated health care provider in America. You can look it up.

  • ...and the government doesn't have a right to run useless, endless war and scare the crap out of the sheople.

  • Maybe we should take away his wants and needs.

  • damn conservatives and their whole, "its God's will" bull shit. How the fuck do you expect a democracy to work if theirs no healthy people. Using the deceased to win elections is an old-trick; it wont work anymore.

  • Google bird flu found in vaccine.

  • lol yeah that makes sense especially with all the Americans going across the border to get their medicine in Canada... DUMBASS

  • But Canada has a very limited amount of prescription drugs on their market, esp. compared to the variety in the U.S. Rationing and shit is to blame.

  • Do the statistics they live longer. than us. Doing nothing help to this get us to this point. We all should be covered now if you want to do cosmetic surgery than yes you should pay. For instance in England they have a genius healthcare system. They have it where the government and the medical companies work together.

  • So they have corporate cronyism in England? lol We have that here too. It's called Medicare Part D. The drug companies rob the American taxpayers with this piece of legislation. They love Medicare part D.

  • Dacadvid,

By your own admission you are "not really sure". Thanks for the honesty. Who told you about Canadians coming here for health care, exactly? Can you recall? Was it something you read somewhere?

Or were you just making something up so you would have a come-back for all us 'liberals' who enjoy the "Heads-Up" videos?

In any case, thanks for staying in touch. Maybe you'll like it better posting here than on FreeRepublic

  • It was something my aunt up in northern Michigan said to me.

However, never did I say I support the idiotic "Small Government, but only when rich corporate sleaze balls are involved" garbage that passes for conservatism these days. I simply said I'm not sure universal healthcare is a good idea. And I know it is nothing easy.

  • Thanks. Sometimes it's hard to know who's just trying to bust your chops. Sorry if I busted yours

  • Your so right I have been saying this but stupid Brain washed far very far right people don't understand this. Im a fairly man in the middle but people never think. It's always funny who are saying this it' always the people saying this.

  • Silly me all my life i've been breathing because I thought I needed to. I now know it's just a selfish want want want thing. Guess I'm just greedy

  • Spare some air for the rest of us, buddy. Gosh.
