She-Ra was defeated by TWO of the most powerful and clever villains around. No one cne could have stood up against Skeletor and Shadow Weaver combined, not even the Sorceress.
I still have to laugh at how easily she was conquered. The great She-ra, lying there defeated and helpless. Some superheroine. They should have finished her off then and there.
She was helpless for like eight seconds before she was hit with sleep mist. How could she resist that? And the Horde doesn't want She-Ra dead, they want to learn her secrets so they can make themselves more powerful and then enslave her. Besides, this was a vengence mission and they needed to deal with Hordak before he woke up. Granted, they should have killed him but the cage served to get both Hordak and Shadow Weaver out of Skeletor's way and he couldn't face her in normal combat and win.
Sleep gas doesn't usually work on She-Ra, she just blows it away, usually by making a whirlwind with her sword. Fortunately for him, Shadow Weaver had made it so she couldn't defend herself.
Shadow Weaver wouldn't stand a chance against Skeletor, even Evil Lyn could beat Shadow Weaver.
