back in the 80's i used to visit my dad at work for lunch (w/ my mom)...and there were these two black twins that worked there with jerry curls, and i didn't know their names so i just called them "ready for the world"...lol
I was not clued up to Prince or the Time until a couple of years ago. Ready For The World reminds me of the Minneapolis Sound. It's awesome discovering new music on youtube.
damnnnn! There is a lot of TCB geri curl in that hair! LOL See if anyone remembers those hairstyling products. ;) You'd have to be over 40 to remember!
@cjs33139 Oh yes! And the "Care Free Curl" in the yellow and red bottle. I messed many a pillow sheet. I could not sleep with that plastic bag on my head. lol!
@jericho4004 hahaaa. I too messed up pillow covers with Jheri curl activators in the 80s! Oh... and NYC subway seats too. When I'd sit down, I'd lay my head back to rest it and when I would get up to exit the train, once I noticed that my greasy head silhouette was left on the wall, LOOOL. I am blatino, so I have wavy/curly hair and felt the Jheri curl was the only thing that worked for my hair, LOL..yes, those were the days! Awww, the 80s... glycerin and lots of hair grease.
They are obviously lip syncing. I sounds just like the recording, you can't hear the guy breathing at all, and the harmony is being played but no one on stage is singing it.
Funny how everybody back then and even now still copy MICHAEL JACKSON the style they sing and dance but sorry there's only one, but this song is tight
Thriller is the sixth studio album by American recording artist Michael Jackson. It was released on November 30, 1982 by Epic Records
========================
Ready for the World is an American R&B band from Flint, Michigan . They were founded by Melvin Riley and Gordon Strozier.
They were discovered by WJLB Detroit Radio personality The Electrifying Mojo in 1982. They gained regional fame with their first release "Tonight" in 1983.
Just to claify, the phrase "I want to di a di da li a di a di da li" was common slang meaning "I intend to purchase a reasonably priced fresh supply of plastic caps for my Jheri curl as soon as possible, but in the meantime, I'm praying that the activator doesn't leave permanent stains on this rented jacket."
Yes he did. Billboard's R&B singles chart was officially called the Hot Black Singles Chart from the beginning of the 80's until 1986, when it was changed back to R&B.
Shocking---i don't know if its rude to have something called a black charts, or if back in those days we were less politically correct, and no one took offense, it just seems we now live in a world that you have to watch and monitor EVERYTHING you say in order to not upset someone.
I can sort of remember it being called a black charts--- i know a great station that plays Chinese music, its called the yellow man charts, is there a difference with saying that ,but that sounds so offensive, i guess it all goes back to the you can say that about them but not this about them.
No,but i have more performances from Montreux 1986...Simply red,Marilyn Martin,Frankie goes to hollywood,etc....I'm uploadin these vids in the next days....

Yup because that's what they called it back then & that lasted into the 90's. Now instead the call it the "R&B" charts lol!
