Well i think what all news channels "claim" to do is bring you the objective reporting. However, that isn't usually achieved, and i think this is pretty obvious in the united states media when you consider all the things that aren't mentioned in newspapers and television. If you look further into per Noam Chomsky's "manufacturing consent", etc... You'll find some pretty well substantiated theory as to why that is. In fact these things are pretty well accepted by all parties.

Those foreign policies were largely based around self-interests instead of shared interests, hence the obvious imbalances that have resulted. When these policies shift in preference to shared interests and the well being of all of humanity, then you know America is beginning to fulfill its role as a real world leader. It seems to me that there is a major misconception globally that All Americans want what our Gov't does. I am sure there is little that can be done to change this perception ultimately. I can no more influence what my Gov't does than I can any other Gov't of the world. Even if there were major demonstrations against Gov't behavior it is unlikely that popular desire would change things in the end, or is it?

It is at the end of a logical chain:

If most people's policy is that it is better that someone else suffer, then eventually it will come down to it is better that "I survive", and that means someone else does not.

And it is a slight allusion to the old maxim: "The more things change the more they stay the same", only it is a rejection of the sentiment.

I would say that the drastic change comes when the collective ego takes a back seat in light of the fact that it can't lead because it's fundamentally concerned with self interests and only makes decisions based around those interests (which lead to things like messing up our living environment in pursuit of more money and more power)

I think that we all agree that 'something' needs to be done. But so far, no on has proposed anything that would last, or even get off the ground. One thing is certain, things WILL CHANGE. But we have little idea what that entails.

We can also organize to create an even greater impact. Change cannot be undone, but can change once again. So, we must be vigilant about pursuing the change that we want.
