  • woah... did george call himself john when he said... "john paul and ringo" thats strange

  • I love them. <3

  • I love when George is like "yes we might make a record but it would be John Paul and Ringo.." hahah

And Ringo said it would b "impossible" for Georgie to b a better guitar player, awww

  • I freaking love Thomas the tank engine I grew up with it I had first 2 seasons on VCR I saw it everyday before breakfast in my blues clues pjs eating captain crunch.!

  • Thank you for this.I hadn't seen it since it was first aired.

  • thanx for posting this.. I loved watching it :)

  • use the captions. and at 7:23 it says drink water from fetuses

  • hahahah 6:02 through 6:04 you see George look at Ringo and think " you dent change all these years." that's cute. awwww and the thing with John being close to him that's sad...

  • "I bet I don't get to sing!" Poor Ringo

  • Thomas the Tank Engine!!

  • Pretend like ur watching a french interview with english over dubbing

  • I like how George's speech turns into Within You Without you.

  • Pretend your listening to the radio & it's OK.

  • @geofbrit59 U r a genius !

  • @scoundrel555 because his eyes are sensitive to light like many other people. when he took off his glasses in the first half of this show he was squinting because light hurts his eyes. its a fairly common condition especially people born in an era where there wasn't much medical technology and couldn't be caught and corrected early.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings That makes sense, actually. He was pretty sick as a child, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was an effect of all of that.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings His eyes are sensitive? lol yes, that's because he's pissed! Ringo was constantly out of it at this time

  • haha, how cute. :DDD

  • @1:12

  • To all the thick bastards- it quite clearly states that this interview is from 1988. Why are you mentioning 1970? Thats when the beatles split up. This interview is from 1988. Jesus Christ.

  • @kazraz72 YOU ARE HILARIOUS...AND YOURE RIGHT, ITS A CRACK UP TO READ SOME OF THESE COMMENTS AND HOW FAR OUT THEY ARE

  • Ringo = Adorable.

    He always makes me smile.

  • what the jaysus is Ringo on here?

  • I find it kind of sad that George and Paul were childhood friends and they hardly talked at all after the breakup

  • Yeah...hate you tell you guys, this interview is dated 1970...and it is about lennon's death...lennon didn't die until 1980.

  • @jdepner87 this isnt from 70, do you see the hair? this is 80

  • @davypeep no to mention the fact that they talk about john's death.

  • @davypeep 1987

  • @madintodogs Yea,it was "rumored" that George announced to Ringo and whoever was listening that he was in fact in love with Maureen(Ringo's 1st wife),I wanna say it was in The Beatles Anthology book.

  • why does ringo remind me of bono now?

  • @beatlemania871 Lol correction, Bono probably took his look from Ringo. He did come first LMAO

  • Comment removed

  • @QueenBeatlesWings In Pattie Boyd's book she said that George and Maureen (Ringo 1st wife) had an affair. So their friendship is pretty strong in order to overlook that.

  • Thank you so much for posting & sharing this!

  • "And life flows on within you and without you." Leave it to George to quote one of his Beatles songs. :)

  • george was always my favorite...went too soon..R.I.P

  • George was really nice and relaxed here. I always think he acts a lil defensive and humorus for defensive reasons but here he was just laid back and himself.Ringo was a bit nervy I think but slowly relaxed too.Where did thise accents come from though lol? They dont sound Liverpudlian hardly!

  • I spent half of the time looking away from the screen, and the other half just staring at their eyes :/

  • paul, george, ring.ahring.. whats my name?? hahaha nice one ringo!

  • Ringo Starr comes across as a bit of a self-satisfied yob in this thing.

By contrast, George Harrison comes across as what I've always thought he was: a kind, decent, sensitive, brilliantly artistic human being who I've admired for a long time and who deserves genuine remembrance.

  • lol george makes fun of ringo doing thomas :P

  • I love how George quoted his own song, haha <3

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Yeah!!! I love Ringo's eyes!! They are beautiful!! George even says so!! XD

  • @QueenBeatlesWings I also am pretty sure they're prescription sunglasses and that his eyes are sensitive to light. Such a shame--best blue eyes in the world.

  • I really enjoyed this multi-part interview... I had to listen to each part multiple times because I couldn't cut through the accent...

LVOE the theme song music... and the host... now THAT'S classy

  • @scoundrel555 Prolly because he doesn't think his beady eyes don't match his cool laidback image, but his sunglasses make him look the way he wants to look

  • GEORGIE so cute...

  • I love George but it's a real shame he believes there is some kind of afterlife. Makes John's death all the more tragic.

  • @tdk2592 why it would be shame,I believe the same as him

  • @bibi5027

It's a shame because it's wrong... So, so wrong.

  • i love the part george talks about johns death, its truly beautiful

and ringo really does seem to always be genuinely happy. i have never seen him where i thought 'oh, he's looking down' he's a very positive guy

  • This is very interesting - it shows two long term, very close friends with humor and respect for each other. George and Ringo are so easy going - they seem like every day people.

So cool... Thanks for posting - b.t.w. the copyright year appears to be 1987.

  • That comment that George made that he would be a better guitarist now if the Beatles had not happened is very revealing. In a way, he spent those years augmenting John and Paul's songs. A lot of it was within a quite tight framework of what a Beatle pop song was supposed to sound like. Either Paul or George Martin would often tell George exactly what to play. He wasn't asked to innovate or to stretch his abilities necessarily.

  • what inspires me about this video is the reason that i have always been into the beatles.there is and always was a depth there, but without the heaviness. that is where the challenge is. facing the truths, the heavy truths of life, without going crazy and getting bogged down. there is the challenge. how to remain buyant and positive, when all around you, things seem to be not so positive. and that is the challenge. both of these guys use humor, and spirituality to remain happy and positive

  • that was a beutiful comment

  • thanks chap

  • no prob^.^

  • "I always feel I was born happy"

    <3 Ringo!

  • Thanks opulent7, great interview :)

  • ..silk pajamas!

  • I laughed so much during this interview - they're still as funny as when they were Beatles! :D

Priceless viewing - thanks for uploading! :)

  • and where is paul? :D

  • lol! george: "apple. apple! APPLE!"

  • "Someone broke into my house and stole a pair of pink pyjamas"

    "That was me"

This is the most relaxed and funny interview with any of the surviving Beatles that I've seen. Just fix the syncing of sound and vision and it'll be a keeper.

  • "I bet i don't get to sing," poor Ringo

  • i remember watching this. fantastic interview . very touching

  • I loved Thomas as a kid x3 Ritchie's the best x3 And George was always my favorite. RIP Georgie and Happy Birthday Ritch x3

  • I'm sorry but the out of sync problem here drives me nuts!

  • @LondonWeekendLesbian jesus loves you

  • @LondonWeekendLesbian turn your monitor off and listen to them instead... lol.

  • RINGO IS SO MUCH FUN!!! <333 I love him!

  • "I bet I don't get to sing" HAHA

  • Ringo is soooooo funny!!!!!!! and George is funny as well!!!!! when you put them together, hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! Ringo really makes me smile!!!!! and George with the APPLE APPLE! thing, so true!!!!hahaha

  • Different people cope in different ways.

  • aw....Ringo calls George Georgie

    and..George calls Ringo Ring..aw....idk...i think it's cute!

  • @MissRandom79 they're brothers :) they got love for each other.

  • @MissRandom79 and georges son calls ringo uncle ringo

  • I got to see George twice on his 1974 tour. While I didn't follow his faith his ideas changed my life in wonderful ways.

  • This interview is amazing! Ringo and George are hilarious together. Ringo is so funny.

  • Cool interview !!

  • What does Ringo say at 6:30? "I love to spend, it's my only reason to _____"?

  • "have it"

  • 6:44 - 6:45 George APLEE APLEE xD

  • rlly i was?hmmm less then 9 years old i think

  • It made me like cry with Ringo was like

    how are you doing Johnny♥

  • yah i loved that<33

  • i was 7 when george died and i remember my dad coming in and sitting me down and telling me. I loved George Harrison then and i do now. it makes me feel sick when all those sick people in the world like child abusers are still alive and a world treasure isn't. life can be a bitch

  • I love how George is saying very quietly that they're more friendly with Paul...so soft.

I was in fact in Liverpool on the very day they announced his death - went to the vigil.

I still can't believe we've only got half of the fabs left :(

  • No, George was closer to Lennon, look at the footage of them writing that anti-Paul song in the 70's with Phil Spector and you'll see. Ringo was kinda neutral.

  • I love these posts....thank you!

  • from george's death i can only remember the concert for george i was 9 ... i cried so much when my dad said it's for george harrison ..i asked why? ..he died ..i was shoked ..i realized 1 year later

  • I watched a tribute band called rain and they were actually pretty good.i've always wanted to meet a beatle, but i'm a true fan to john when it comes to music, ringo about personality and humor.i bet ringo could have also been an actor or comedian

  • George passed away when i was 11, i remember him being on the news vaguely, but i have listened to The Beatles my whole life, since i can remember thanks to my gramma and dad :)

  • I'll have what Ringo is having.

  • i am the same i was 11 when george died i cant even remeber it on the news i can remember when he got stabbed i was about 9 then but i am a massive fan of the beatles now i kniew of them and john who doesnt i wish i could see them perform live who knows maybe someday i will with all the technollogy these days

  • Ringo is an absolute genius of comedy throughout this whole interview! Give me a pint or an ounce of whatever he was taking in those days. Far funnier than I've ever seen him.

  • Ringo has a great sense of humor. Very down to earth guy it seems like.

  • Anyone know where I can get copies of Thomas the Tank engine show that Ringo did ?

  • They have DVD's of them, I'm pretty sure. On the back, it'll "Narated by:" and just make sure it says Ringo Starr.

  • Awesome ! Thanks for telling me ! I want to see this on a regular screen, will also make a great Christmas gift for my Beatles Peatles

  • George and Ringo are so awesome.

  • George Harrison died on my eleventh birthday :(

  • A month before my tenth

  • he died a day before my tenth, but at that time i didn't care cause really didnt knew anything about him or the beatles.

  • George died when I was... About 8, I belive. And I think I always knew about The Beatles, because who doesn't sing the chorus of Yellow Submarine now and then? I knew about them vaguely, but I didn't really care. I regret that now.

  • George died the day before my 10th birthday, and i also didn't care... i cant believe that now, cause i'm a huge fan of him and the beatles now

  • Same here. It is actually a big regret of mine that I will never get to see The Beatles. If I could, I would go back to the sixties, but of course, that is completely impossible.

  • @drummerboyjac Mine, too. I miss him so much.

  • was it only two weeks ago that i commented this...

    holy jeez!!!

    dfbjdifgb

  • Haha Ringo is so funny. I love him.

  • "and there were all these babies screamin again....

    RINGO RINGO!!!"

  • This is a great interviewm thanks for posting it. It shows how clever George was!!!

  • I saw his band on Tuesday. His personality is great. ringo's

  • Brilliant, funny, sweet guys. After the music, it was their hearts (all 4) people fell in love with.

  • it made me kind of sad when George was talking about death because it reminded me that he, too, was gone now, but it also made me happy to know that he felt this way about it. I think Ringo has a lot of self confidence. He is so funny!

  • Self confidence? LOL, one of the last things I would say Ringo had was self confidence.

  • well, maybe not when he was in the Beatles, but now that he's older, I think he has a little more than he used to. =]

  • I get were you're coming from (sorta), but the guy tried to kill himself AFTER the break up for the simple reason he thought he wasn't good enough. (granted he was drunk at the time but still) Not getting down on you and I don't wan't it to seem like I'm picking a fight cause I'm not. All I'm saying is alcoholism =/= self confidence. And yeah, I agree, he's alot better now, but he wasn't until after this interveiw, he's just drunk.

  • yeah I agree with you-he's improved. He isn't as quiet as he used to be-which may have to do with alcoholism like you said. like he said "I love cameras"...lol

  • Well, he want into rehab not long after this, and you know, went though the nessacary steps to recover. He wasn't loud and obnoxious here because it was his personality, he was cause he was drunk. Before he became an alcoholic his houmor was alot more deadpan/laid back. Like it is now.

  • yeah. It didn't seem quite like his personality. that's what I mean.

  • Ringo tried to kill hiself ? Can you give me details ? Poor Ringo !

  • Sure! But, Hmm, I have an interveiw from his first wife, Maureen and it goes into detail, but it is over 500 characters, but If you'd like, I can message it to you!

  • Could you message me that please? Ringo is hilarious on this though

  • @ponypride111 I'm sorry. I know I'm late in this but Ringo almost did that to himself after he and the guys seperated? OMG poor guy. That would've been very tragic. :( Thank God he'd gotten help and seems to be doing great. I adore him.

  • George said,"We may be three old guys called John Paul n Ringo"

  • He's probably used to being the third person when refering to the names of the band and not used to saying his own name.

  • tjhe bit with the coffee, is he talking about that dentist that put LSD in the coffee? their first acid trip?

  • the part where George says "when they stopped doing it, we started putting it in our own coffee" made me laugh SO HARD!! He was such an amazing man, RIP

  • aww george accidentally said "three old guy - john paul and ringo" instead of george...aw :/

  • True, didn't notice :-/

  • That was so cute. He accidentally left himself out.

  • Is it possible for them to crack you up more??? I love them!!!! Miss John and George<3 the part where the talked about John was sad... But I think that John loved Ringo's fake crying. Love the Beatles!!!!!!! Peace and Love!

  • OMG i didn't know ringo read thomas the train stories! my younger brother loved those!!! how cool!!

  • hahaha .. when they stopped putting it, we started puttin it in our own coffees .. .

  • To Ringo: What was your biggest waste of money?

    George: Apple!

    hahaha.

  • Ringo have a big sense of humor

  • Thank you for posting this! I love it!

  • Thank you so much for posting this interview in its entirety. It's amazing! I love George's humour, and Ringo is pretty amusing as well.

    Simply amazing footage.

  • I would have loved to meet George&John and I

would really love to meet Ringo&Paul I would

really love to see them in concert R.I.P John

    Peace&Love everyone

  • ringos off his bin here. legend

  • all these little babies screamin'

    RINGO RINGO!!!

    haha.

  • omg Ringo's so funny!!

  • gear

  • Simply fabulous! my late mother would have loved to have watched this. Thanks for posting it. ;)

  • I remember this interview when it first aired in 1988, I was 11, and I haven't seen it since then, and a lot of things from this interview I remember, but I don't remember Ringo being so drunk...

  • These are the best interviews I have seen on You Tube. Thank you so much, Opulent7. You have made my day!

  • Watch "The Kids Are Allright", Ringo and Keith Moon were mates. Ringo went to his ex-wife, when she was dying of cancer, in Virginia Mason Hospital. He is as sweet as George. Maybe that is why they connected so much in the Beatles. Ringo and George are my favorites. They always looked the most youthful.

  • That's funny, George was the youngest and Ringo was the oldest.

  • Huge Beatles fan-Ringo does seem a bit off in this interview, not in a bad way....just a little tipped. His interviews in Beatles Anthology seem more, well, sober. Peace.

  • In his early Beatle days, George would speak with a very thick Liverpool accent. Now,he appears to be very articulate and speaking with a very careful British accent.

  • I LOVE Ringo doing the voice for Thomas the Train. I wish he would have done more!

  • This is brilliant! Thanks for posting, fun to see the banter!

"But, I don't get to sing" Love it :)

  • George unwittingly calls himself John around the five minute mark

  • he does. wierd.

  • God bless you George for saying all that...for still being that real even in the face of it all. A brave soul.

  • beautiful

  • Ringo and George ae great Musicans when they were in the Beatles and thier Solo carrer. I miss George as he was one of the greatest Beatle and same as John he was the best. But Ringo will always be my favorite.

  • Anyone else notice Georges mistake saying that it wont be the beatles it will be 3 old guys called JOHN paul and ringo.

  • Wow! I've seen this interview so many times and have never noticed that! Thanks.

  • Michael Aspel is a great interviewer.

  • woahhhhh i was JUST gonna comment that!!! and i miss george sooo much

  • i love all of them why did they die?!

i mean ringo and paul are alive but thats a lonely group.

  • george must really be the sweetest man to live.
