You're so beautiful your locs are awesome. The first stages are going to be trying but have patience. I've been growing my locs for 5 years. I'm very picky about the products I use: raw shea butter at rm temp is a great start, doo grow oil for moisture and smell including coconut oil. But you have to find what works for your hair personally. Any specific questions just ask me.
@zion4marchelle Aww. Thank you! I am actually in my 8th month right now and I am really starting to like them. I can do much more with them. I have decided that just using Black Castor oil and Ohm's Aloe Gel work best for me for retwisting.. You're hair is beautiful, by the way. Cute styles!
@NappyGurl1979 sounds good. I'll be posting a new slide by the end of the week. I curled my locs for the second time and they look great. Yeah have fun with your hair be healthy and stylish : P
Your locs look good...When they start budding they will thicken up and then they will become tighter when they lock up..Be patient. The beginning stages are trying so be encouraged is my best advice...
congrats on the journey. be patient. patient. and more patient. Ive been growing my locs for 11 months and this is my third set of locks. I really love my hair. Dont mess with it too much in the first couple of months
i have locs too and this is a cool video and all but i had to tell you you're beautiful and you and i wear the same goofy non-prescription glasses im wearing mines as i type this i got mines from spencers.lol
Your locs look freshly twisted. They are always thin when they are freshly twisted. sleep on them a few times and they will puff up. Having locs you will have to go thru a lot of products to know which ones work for you. I found that gel didn't work for me so I now use a pomade which holds better and doesn't cause flaking for me.
they look very very nice on you! I wish my intial set looked that nice on me ... ]=
girl stick with it! u will b glad u did b/c they will look sooooo nice on you!!! (they already do!!). My initial set was hella skinny too, but they have DEFINTELY thickened up!
Thanks girl! I hope so, because they don't seem to be doing much. I have a few buds right now and I have one in the back that is doinf something totally diff than the rest, but other than yhan...nothing. I know that they growing bcuz I get hella new growth, but ironically, they seem to be getting shorter and shorter. Lol. I don't know. We'll just wait and see what happens. I would love to see pics of yours from beginning until now. How long have you been growing them?
Usually the hair on the nape of the neck/back of the head tends to be a little looser and locks last. I've had mine for a little over a year, and I love them more each day. Message me an e-mail address for u and I'll be sure to send some pics.
welcome to the journey sis. you're going about it the right way. i wish i had done my research ahead of time, but i waited til 6 months. but now i'm 100% nautural. if i can't pronounce an ingredient i'm not using it. lol. your locs will def get thicker. mine were mad small when i started out. once they loc only twist the root. that'll help keep the thickness also. but again, welcome to the journey. you won't regret it. peace sista!
to keep my hair moisturized ive used olive oil hair polish, and organic roots stimulater olive oil hair sheen....thats it, locs don't need alot to make them work, and i agree ur hair will tell u what it likes...
your locs will thicken as they continue to grow and lock, i would wait until then to see if you want to interlock them. mine were as thin as urs in the beginning and i have had to interlock them, but i only started interlocking some of them after 3 years, so wait and see, also i use aloe vera gel from PROCLAIM...u can buy at beauty supply, no alcohol, no flakes, no build up, good hold, ive ordered the talia waajid products and i want to try them but ive used aloe vera for 4.5 years to retwist.
I suggest that you don't combine them just yet, they are going to swell as they age. Once you see how much they swell, if they are too thin, then combine them. Also, Apple Cider and Vinegar rinses are great for flaking and build up. Your hair will tell you what it likes and dislikes. Good luck and I hope this information was helpful.
Have you tried Jamaican mango and lime locing gel? Or aloe vera gel? I interlock my new growth but I used the mango and lime products when I used to retwist. It never flaked on me. Your locs are young now but they WILL thicken up...just gotta be patient with them. Mine were skinny too in the beginning. Pls keep us posted on your journey.
Thank you! I actually used to love Jamaican Mango and Lime products. I would use the spray on my braids and loose hair, and use the gel for my and my daughters' twists. Then, all of a sudden they changed the formula. It usded to be all natural, now the ingredient list has some things on it that I don't agree with. I did think about Aloe Vera gel, though.
Hey there just came across you video. You have a lot of style and personality. I think you hair texture is the same as mine. I started locking my about 8 months ago and mine still isn't fully locked but pretty close. Your hair will probably start locking at about 4 mths. Can't wait to see your progress!
I find that some of my locs are skinny too. I combined like 6 of them already. you can always combine your locs to make them thinker, but other than that your locs look nice.
Congrats! If you haven't already, you may want to check out w ww.nappturality.c0m. On the left you'll find different menus, one of them being Napptural Forums. After clicking that, scroll down a little to click on Loc Discussions. Be sure to read the thread titled Must Read for All Lockers near the top for general information, and at the bottom there's a search bar where you can type spray/mixture/spritz/any other query. There's a wealth of info on that site and I hope it's helpful to you.
I posted my first youtube video today also. I am too looking for help with my locs. Check it out, it's one above yours 100 2398 or something like that. Congrats! There are a lot of youtube videos that can be very helpful.
