  • My favorite version

  • LOVE YOU JONESY!

  • AWESOME!

  • eh Jonesy isn't even that bad at singing he actually sounds really cute

  • JPJ should be getting heaps of credit, he filling Sandy's parts are awesome!!!

  • This works for me. Of course this was not going to be the perfect studio version. JPJ was the least celebrated member of Zep, yet at the same time he was a crucial part of their synergy. Glad to see him in the spotlight from time to time.

  • Пиздуны сраные для меня это музыка. А вам ? Несчастье!!!

  • fuckin A

  • aw jonesy doesn't sound that bad..it's kinda cute haha

  • JpJ sounds like shyte here . Who usually sings that part?

  • @pencon61 Sandy Denny sings on the album; she sang with Fairport Convention.

  • @pencon61 wouldnt say shite, not great but not shite. at least he is giving it a try along with evrything else he has tried i music for christ sake.....

  • That's John Paul Jones singing Sandy Denis' part! :-)

  • lol the only weakness of zeppelin is harmony.

  • JPJ sounds sick and japanese

  • I just got the friggin chills.............Most live Zep Songs do that to me. Been a fan for 21 years. Thanks to my older bro. I would steal his cassete tapes.

  • the greatest led zepplin song of all time

  • bonzo should have done back up hes a great singer

  • that mandolin is just beautiful

  • hahahaha JPJ ftw xD

  • Fantastic live version, JPJ' vocal notwithstandinding!

  • C'mon Jonesy.

  • thought this might actually be a version with Sandy Denny. If I could just see that live... She is amazing. I miss her.

  • lol JPJ sounds... Angry Angry

  • A pity that Alison Krauss wasn't born about twenty years earlier in order to perform guest vocals and fiddle on this tour.

  • lol yeah rock on JPJ!!!!!!!!

  • ahh John Paul is singing hehe he doesn't sound like he likes it too much

  • Have you ever heard John Paul and Jimmy's voices on Communication Breakdown? They're God awful. But John Paul Jones is one of the greatest bassists that ever lived. And Jimmy is my greatest guitarist ever. :)

  • @5stringofFernandoSor He didn't sound too bad here, a bit weak but I've heard worse. Ever heard Keith Richards sing? You'll need to smoke a joint afterwards just to gain some level of inner peace, it's disturbing.

  • Yeah, John Paul can't quite pull off what Sandy Denny did on the original recording.

  • I saw them do this live Oakland 1977, a good third of their concert was acoustic.....rock hard, pick light, they're all good...***big sigh*** I wish they were still together (sniff!)

  • @khamir49 hey i went to oakland in 1977 it was one of the biggest concerts the city has ever seen. it was sold out so we traveled 45 miles for nothing. i was 17. i wanted to cry, lol

  • LOL what'd you expect?!? In 1977 Zeppelin was at biggest band in the universe status.

  • yeah they left oakland devestated for days. there concerts where worth driving 500 miles. not even... there concerts where worth dying for. each concert was very diffrent. i went to 7 of there concerts, i think.

  • @Abe91195 Glad you made it to some, if the story ended like that I would have been sad haha

  • I was only two years old at the time, but I somehow wish I could time warp back to then and go to some concerts. I did get to see Page/Plant in 1994 in Orlando.

  • @Abe91195 oh gees I know how that feels! I missed a performance 90 miles from here; the radio station said they were sold out, but they failed to mention that you could buy lawn tickets at the venue! I wanted to cry too.

  • led zeppelin is just best i wish they'd get back together and write some more great music rock on led zeppelin.

  • It was pure magic.

led us .. i meen all of us to a higher sensation for what music could be e do , like joy, or power , or happiness. RP had this amazing carisma and shine like a best of what we got. thanks Led Zepp.. i will never be the same again.

  • A lot of idiots comments, rest in hell ! Led Zeppelin is there ! Deal with the best band ever , or shut the f,, UP

  • Just read all the comments, ay what a saga! Bonzo actually does BV's on quite a few songs, The Ocean springs to mind and there is a Pro-Shot "Live at Kingdome" DVD bootleg floating around from '77

  • page plays mandolin

jhon paul jones play 12 strings acoustic guitar

  • OMG, was that the question? ok

This is long time ago, and they were better than anyone ever will come close.

2009 they are still the most important band ever! Just deal with it and love it. You can never change that fact anyway...

  • ahh JPJ has a funny sounding voice, he's probably my favorite member of Zep but maybe he shouldn't have sang on this.

  • jones plays mandolin for this

  • im loving it! keep posting stuff like this, will ya?

  • THE SUMMIT NOW A CHURCH!~

  • so that's page on mandolin?

  • Comment removed

  • I believe he is playing a mandolin

  • could someone tell me what's the name of page's instrument????here

  • Yeah, it's a mandolin.

  • I think tha John Paul Jones plays the mandolim.

He's amazing, he plays like at least 10 instruments.

  • Comment removed

  • Well said!

and togheter, one of the best bands EVER!

  • @Dwslassls couldn't agree more :) and yeah, I don't think there's really anything that Jonesy doesn't play. That's part of why he's my favorite :D

  • @Dwslassls It all fits

  • jones plays mandolin on every zeppelin song which has a mandolin minus this one and boogie with stu, so this is page. jones is so much better at mandolin tho!

  • who plays mandolin on boogie with stu?

  • page.

  • i like JPJ' s backing vocals better than the studio version's backing vocals

  • no way but thats opinion this song still rocks haah

  • lol JPJ!!!

he could have put some emotion into it..he sounds dead!

    great song though!!!

  • heh he sounds like he reeeaaally hates the fact that hes singing

  • that's true, he doesn't sing that well...Of course because who can pretend to be a good singer beside Plant ?

  • Yikes! Sorry but JPJ really wrecked this with his backing vocals. They should have figured out some other arrangement.

  • wow. plant's in pretty good voice for 77.'

  • lol look in the picture... anyone notice that one guy to the left just chillin there and hes probly gonna be like, "hey its JPJ! whats he doing here?"

    lol

kick ass version of this song... miss bonzo (rip)

  • Rivers of time lie silent

    Wake not for the bell

    Sleep,sleep till rivers end

    though time and space excell

    Angels seen or demons known

    verge not on men sublime

    Wait,wait till trumpets sound

    thus given heavens sign

  • when they recorded this song for there album who did the back up vocals?

  • sandy denny

  • i hear horses' thunder down in the valley below...i'm waiting for the angels of avalon, waiting for the eastern glow....

  • The pain of war cannot exceed

    The woe of aftermath,

The drums will shake the castle wall,

The ring wraiths ride in black, ride on...

    rock on zeppelin

  • This sounds so great and sweet..<3 :D

  • jpj needs to actually sing, he sounds like he's nervous. plant's voice is the best in rock'n'roll. no one can sing like him

  • you my friend have exquisite taste....jonesy's talents r not in the vocals..plant sounded great in 2007 & sj6288 trashed his voice....got me upset!! his voice sounded beautiful !!

  • btw, JPJ is playing acoustic guitar here while page plays mandolin

  • really? how do you know

  • In the studio version it was the same situation theres even a video where Pagey plays mando and JPJ plays his triple necked acoustic. It was like that throughout the 77 tour

  • You can find the Seattle video from the same tour (not a great show but pro shot) and page is playing the Mandolin. Though Jones's tripple neck does have a mandolin on the top.

  • Are Jonesy singing is always good for laugh. He's not bad usually but this is abit crappy.

    "FIIIIIIISHING BY MOOOOOONLIGHT" lol

  • john paul jones had flu at this concert, thats why he sounds awful

  • I have this whole concert but its choppy, either Page stoped playing or the audio from his guitar keeps going out, I think there are two versions of these shows and I believe I got the lesser, but this sounds excactly like what I have just with the intro plant talking cut out

  • This has ben re released (as a bootleg) in 5.1 audio, it is now awesome. The original soundboards were a bit flat, but that has now been fixed.

Try and find Ultimate Destroyer. The guy that recorded this show was doing it to send to the guy in Seattle so he would be able to set up the lights. Seattle was filmed but it was not as good of a show.

Rumor has it the Summit show from Houston was also filmed but it has never leaked out, the soundboard recording has so keep your fingers crossed.

  • If you know of any unreleased video like that of which you speak, please message me. Thnx

  • The Summit show is very probable, they had an internal video feed that they use to send to monitors around the arena. Just recently many have started to surface. I think the then owner recorded nearly every concert played there.

  • Im very intrigued. Do you think an official release is possible? All they need to do is pick the best moments, master the soundboard tracks, cook the film for a bit (like they did with the Earls court footage for DVD) and bob's your uncle. Its obviously a hell of a lot of work but If they have the resources an offical release of some 77' stuff would be a dream come true.

  • I doubt it until after Page is gone. I dont thing Page was ever happy with the later stuff (he did not shine as much due to drugs). He only likes to let out perfection. If the Houston show exists you will find it first and best in the bootleg market (thank you Japan).

  • I like it, JPJ fits but in those later days all ive really heard was critisicm about Plant singing with Krauss

  • heehee jonsey. he is not appreciated nearly as much as he should!

  • john paul jones is good harmonizing with plant, but yes its much lower than sandy denny.

  • i was just 10 years old but my father took me down to this concert!!! excellant video

  • Man... it gets worse... besides hes doing backup, you dont need to be robert plant to do backup vocals.

  • destroyer 1977 .;.. no quarter some show 1972..1972 thats the way... fuck the studio shit ...jewels r live if u can find it..then post it please

  • I would post more but...I lost all my files.. I'll try to get some back but as of now I have nothing..

  • @goldthwaiter what? the studio versions are most of the time better

  • on ya jpj

  • So JPJ isn't the best singer...he made up for his lack of singing with his amazing talent for bass, paino/keyboard, mandolin, etc, etc, etc. And btw JPJ sounds better than most of the music today so.......lol

  • he did a solo album singing i honestly didnt like it

  • Yaym another Zeppelin's song inspired by "Lord of the rings" and mythology ;-)

  • so sad. Bonham was such a better singer.

  • same with page

  • you ever heard page sing. look up she just satifies its awsome page sings the entire song its from 1965 or so

  • yeah i know, i dont understand why he didnt sing more. The only time you can really hear him sing on any of the albums is that one part of Thank You

  • I think JPJ's voice fit the song better maybe.

  • could you post more stuff from destroyer?

  • I just made some vids the other day I have yet to upload them though, I'll be sure to get them up ASAP.

  • Generally one of my favorite songs of all time . . . but this is appalling. Whoever is singing backup is absolutely dreadful!

  • Lol...that would be John Paul Jones..and yes..it was bad, lol.

  • I have this bootleg. Actually got it from Cleveland.

  • hahahhahhahaha listen to jones he sucks at singing

  • lol

  • Where can I find this bootleg?

  • Where can I find this bootleg?

  • Where can I find this bootleg?

  • its niether its some guy i dont remember his name but it was a rare quest apperience

  • Oh... I LOVE BATTLE OF EVERMORE!!!

And Led Zeppelin is my life.

It's the first their music piece I heard of

Led Zeppelin, 'cause I was an Tolkien fan

    (I'm still)...

ps: Who is singing the second voice?

Is it our sweet Jimmy or cute Jonesy?

    Maybe Bonzo?

  • it are jonesy

  • I'm pretty sure its Jones, he usually did the backup vocals on this song when they did it live...then again Frusciante95 might be right also I don't exactly know though. Sounds like Jones to me maybe, but hey, glad you enjoy it!!!

  • This is my favourite song by them!!!!

  • Well then I'm glad you enjoy it!

  • Thanx :D

  • aww I was hoping Jonesy would be putting on a falsetto for it :(

    thanks so much though!

  • Lol that would be nice, thanks, glad you enjoy it!

  • Sandy Denny were never available except on the studio album.

  • thank you so much for posting this!! my destroyer got ruined and i haven't replaced it yet. this is my favorite song from the whole bootleg, so i'm grateful to have it again!!

    thank god for zeppelin

  • Im very glad you enjoy it!

  • And Jimmy is a horrible singer, and Bonzo wouldn't fit the part with his voice I dont think. lol.

  • John paul is a funny dude, the crowd probably made him do it.

Sing when you raise your bow, shoot straighter than before!!

  • Perhaps, I read that he always did the backup vocals since of course Sandy Denny wasn't always available.

  • Awesome

  • Just like my 28th show
