Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm sure i heard Steve Harris in an interview say that he once got a phone call from someone saying there was already a band called Iron Maiden. He said he wasn't sure if it was a wind up so he registered the name Iron Maiden straight away. I'm thinking that maybe it wasn't a wind up after all. Iron Maiden have always been my favourite band but this is very good music aswell.
And Herbie Hancock should've contacted these guys to tell them that there was already an album called "Maiden Voyage"! Ha! (Herbie Hancock's "Maiden Voyage" was released in 1965, four years prior to Iron Maiden's "Maiden Voyage.")
I think this is is actually good music.. surprises me that this band didn't got more popular than they did. The music is well played, and it gives a kind of "phsycdelic" feel when listening to it....

Paul Reynolds, Iron Maiden '69's drummer, still plays live every week at the (very excellent) New Crawdaddy Blues Club in Billericay, Essex, in a great blues band band called The Heaters.

"No link with the heavy metal band we know."
or, did you mean
"No link with the heavy metal band we know that we know of."
Iron Maiden were genius level. I believeSteve Harris, Paul DiAnno, et al could have made a darn good album, even at the age of 12!
