  • Why ~49s in do you shock the dog? It is lying down, ignoring the GSD with it's back to her, the dog is relatively calm. There is the shock and then you request the dog to get up and heel. What was the dog doing wrong? How was it supposed to learn anything from this? I don't see how this is support to help her progress. Operant conditioning - Cue, behaviour, consequence - that is the order it works, can't change the order of these and expect the dog to get the message. Me & dog confused!

  • @katethevet the buzzing is a pager there is a whole playlist you can see the end result bottomline the dog was a dangerous dog always err on the side of caution anticipation is the key to being a good dog trainer I will check out your training videos

  • @katethevet dogs that are being ''shocked '' as you it called do not eat food I will look forward to your videos showing how you deal with extremely dog aggressives pits!

  • Kelly, Why did you not offer your services? That woman really needed the help. Not sure telling her to bring her unstable dog to a dog park was a good idea.

  • @italo6789 oh gee I'm not sure what books you are reading but waiting until after the fact and trying to use a collar to correct behavior is not right maybe you can post some training videos of yopur dogs also if you have a sound box it makes it easier to see whats going on

  • @panzertoo First off I am not reading any books. I have actually worked with one of the best trainers in my area and he was on the USA national schultzand team. My trainers has been doing this for almost 40 years. It is one thing to correct the dog with the collar if the dog is trying to go after something but when asking to perform a down or other command I think you should give the dog a chance to respond before you correct.

  • @italo6789 then post some videos of your dog

  • The extended pages look like they are actually harming the PB. Is that the case?

  • @domnahl how could a page harm something??

  • not really a dog like that needs to learn tp ignore other dogs altogether looking leads to other things

  • keep up the good work!! I own a pitbull myself , her best friend is a goat! I posted it on video response! bye!

  • a pitbull behaving a lot more calm than the germansheperd, hm who would a thought??

  • "Stay calm" is a must but not always easy.

And the screaming part I do sometimes without saying "please" :-) When you do not have a strong recall you simply should not let your dog unleashed ever.

The dogtra really helped in this and gave me confidence, more control and so on. Keeping the leash loose is also important I think. Any pressure makes your dog go, like holding by the collar. It happend to us, the pit was unleashed, the guy held the choke and it was growling with my GSD downed.

  • I can't believe the progress Sadie has made. We would not even take her out anywhere because her reaction to other dogs was so severe and we would just end up dragging her away while she continued the aggressive behavior. She really has a great disposition around people and it will be so nice to be able to control her response around other dogs so that people don't automatically think she's a "bad" dog. Thanks so much, Kelly. We miss you, Sadie. Good job!

  • That woman will probably have to give her GSD away if she does not get some good advice. That is a useless leash she is using there also.

It is good to see the progress the Pitbull has made since you started the training.

You just showed us that the Dogtra will not necessarily make the dogs more agressive if properly used, which is what we are told elsewhere. What if the other dog is lose? I meet a lot of them around here. Do we just keep walking away?

  • depending on the dog you would either down the dog which tends to disarm other dogs or regarding the Pit if a dog got loose at this stage in the training I would move away calmly and deliberatly while screaming ''get your #@&^*ing dog'' at the other owner ; ]

  • Wauw Kelly, that was a good example. My Kazan is not even half that bad ...

By the way, last tuesday Kazan and I passed the exam of our Obedience course and we won 2nd prize!!!! Thanks to you, he did the sending to his place fabulous!!

    Love,

    Greet

  • he did!! oh great give him a big hug for me!!
