  • You took formal training mate? I'm really impressed with the ease with which you play.. How many years have you been playing?

  • @JT0daniel Thank you. I had a classical guitar lessons when I was around ten for about a year. After that I've been a self-taught player for nearly forty years.

  • Well played mate. Keep up the good work!

  • @JT0daniel Thank you! I'll try my best to keep on and up.

  • @peacejoytown Your really comfortable with your fingering..Have you taken any formal training? And how many years are you plying for?

  • @JT0daniel That is what I am trying to do. I've been playing on and off for nearly forty years.

  • This is really nice.

  • @PArbuckle18 Thank you.

  • A pleasure to listen. Thank You.

  • Thank you. It is my pleasure.

  • Bellissimo !!!

    Suonato davvero bene.

    Complimenti.

  • Grazie!

  • that was awesome...gosh, just beautiful...you have mad skills...

  • Thank you.

  • Very nice performance!

I'm playing some sort of Leo Kottke arrangement, which is a little easier as it is played in open G tuning. I like the groovy bass of the low G and D string :)

  • Thank you. I used to use open tunings like DADGAD, Dropped D/G, Open D/G, but now I am too lazy to change tuning. (^^)

  • David Qualey? sounds like it but a little different.

  • Yes, his performance and the one done by George Winston on piano were the inspiration for this arrangement. Mr. Qualey played this with different type of the guitar or capo on high fret with different tuning, I think. I tried it with a standard tuning using a regular guitar.

  • Mr.Qualey used an octave guitar. It's a very nice arrangement. This arrangement is also very nice.

  • Thank you. There was no way to know what he was using by just listening, but I knew it wasn't a regular guitar. Thank you for telling me.

  • I think its the equivalent to a capo on the 7th fret. not too sure. I know its tuned a 5th higher than a regular guitar.

  • I now have a small guitar by Tacoma which is tuned 5th higher than a regular guitar. Maybe he used one of those. With capo on 5th fret on a regular guitar, this arrangement will becomes very tough one since it uses a lot of high positions.

  • If you read the comments on his video he explains what he used.

  • I see. I didn't have that information when I arranged this twenty some years ago. There wasn't even internet around.

  • great works!! but don't look camera,haha

  • Thank you! Maybe I was too busy.

  • strange sounding arrangement!

  • It may sounds so if you know the original Bach version.

  • Very Nice!

  • Thank you!

  • fantastic 5*****

  • Thank you for *s.

  • Nicely done!! I like your fresh interpretation of this tune! Can't wait to see the tab on your website. BTW I hope your mom is doing better.

  • Thank you. I will write it someday. She departed on Friday night.

  • Sorry to hear that man. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  • Thank you. She will be happy to know that there are prayers from all over the world.

  • I love the multiact!

  • Thank you. Do you mean counterpart?

  • No, I mean the Godin Multiac guitar.

  • I see. Unfortunately, this guitar is now at someone else's hand.

  • Very beautiful!

  • Thank you!

  • nice guitar

IM 52 AND COLLECT THEMand i realy hate to sell them after i get 1

    i realy like

  • Although I'm not a collector, I know what you mean, but I have to eat to play. Also, I play real acoustic guitars more than those designed to be usuful on stages.

  • what kind of guitar is that

  • It's Godin Grand Concert Duet. I sold it before last Christmas.

  • awesome!!! sir sketch can you please write the score for this tab soon. thanks.

  • Thank you. I'll try.

  • Sublime...meraviglioso!

  • Ringraziarla!

  • amazing !

  • Thank you!

  • Awesome. Do u have the score for this?

  • Thank you. I haven't written this out yet.

  • nice bro

  • Thank you.

  • Delightful...thank you so much for sharing your talent with us.

  • My pleasure.

  • Beautiful, it sounds so modern.

  • Thank you.

  • Hi Again:

This is just outstanding. Most people, unless they are pickers cannot possibly understand how hard this is to do the way that you have done it.

    Regards,

  • Thank you. I think I am going to try this again for this Christmas.

  • your the best!!! great playing...

  • Thank you.

  • muy lindo buen sonido

  • Gracias.

  • great feeling on this piece reminds me of Dan Qualey, version. I think if you played it a little longer version they would be ahout equal, he is also know as meandtaco on youtube, keep up the great playing and you will never go hungry!!!!

  • Thank you. You mean David Qualey. His version and George Winston's version were the inspiration for this version. So far I am not to the point where I feel hunger, but I am getting there if I don't get decent job soon.

  • Original

  • Thank you. Actually, I was inspired by George Winston's piano version.

  • Fantastic version. You are very talented. This choral is so popular, that it seemed , playing it anew is so hard. But you did. Congratukations !

  • Thank you. I just take Bach or Mozart as The Beatles in their time.

  • A surprising and superb cover.... thank you very much!

  • Thank you and you're welcome!

  • Such a beautiful job on such an amazing piece by Bach. Bach would be proud! I play steel guitar, but have been thinking very seriously about a classical guitar.

  • Thank you. I think you can play these arrangements with steel strings guitar too. I use nylon strings guitar just because I feel more comfortable with it at this moment.

  • Absolutely beautiful and great job. I listen to this when I get home from work to relax me. Could you post the tab of this sometime?

  • Thank you. I am glad to hear that it is doing the job what it supposed to do. I will post it when I write it down.

  • I wish I could play half that well. Very nice arrangement and technique.

  • Thank you. Wishing is a good start.

  • Beautiful, man. Really great. Good job.

  • Thank you.

  • Hi peacejoytown, You are a good player who deserves good tone as well! My opinion is based on my own frustration of attempting to get a good live sound out of a classical guitar without feedback yet loud enough to be heard. I can't believe some people actually

RECORD CD's with Piezo pick-ups! There is video of James Taylor from a T.V. show in the '70's playing into a mic and he sound's great. 30 years later, same song with piezo and it's hard to believe why anyone would

    prefer that to natural!

  • Thank you. Some players need equipments to produce the sound they like. I like things to be simple. It is just a taste. I use PU since I have so many background noises around where I live and it is useful for that reason. I will try to use microphone for some future videos.

BTW, BigJohnnyG was reacting the way you commented, I think. I hope to see things get settled here. I am doing this to make people smile. (^^)/

  • DEATH TO THE PIEZO!

  • death to you!

  • I will try to get a microphone that will be suitable for making video. I myself don't like the sound of PU.

  • for reference, i was saying death to vitotesta, not you peacetownjoy. Wonderful performance

  • I know that. Thank you (^^)/

  • BigJohnnyG = ASmallThinker...I did not disparage the playing, only the pick-up. People unfortunately are acclimated to the HORRIBLE tone that a Piezo pick-up produces. It is in fact unatural and crappy sounding. Unless you invented the sound or you're too young to have grown up listening to natural sounding acoustic tones then you miss the point of someone who plays well but ruins it with the plastic quackiness of the Piezo. May what you've wished on me become your on self fulfilling phrophesy!

  • I see your point. I prefer pure acoustic sound too. The guitar I use at gigs doesn't even have a PU. I hope to see some peace here. Okay?

  • peace, love, and joy...lets all smash some guitars!

  • Thank you for your comment. I don't know what you mean though.☺

  • wow you sound like a tool

  • What's that supposed to mean? You can't think of anything intelligent to say so you just regurgitate some vapid catch phrase?

Knock yourself out pee-wee I'll not spend another minute responding to your limp mind.

  • As I said, I want see some peace here. I hate piezo as much as you do. (^^)

  • Wow, you just sounded even more stupid. Why dont you grow a pee-wee

  • Smile (^^)

  • I really appreciate your kindness. I know you did it for me. (^^)/

  • wow... very peaceful music... i feel so blessed, inspired...

  • Thank you...

  • thank you.

  • Anytime.

  • Very nice playing of an awsome tune!

Btw, we just celebrated the 323rd year since JS Bach was born on 21 March of 1685.

Here's to a great 324th year filled with greaTunes!

  • Thank you!

    He must be an happy man to be celebrated that many times. Maybe I do some of his music next year. I just hope that I remember the date since so many friends were made in summer (^^);

  • Superb, Isaiha 26:8, the words were written by Martin Janus from Germany a long long time ago.....ahh....such peace.

  • Thank you. What is "Isaiha 26:8"?

  • Isaiha 26:8 refers to the Old Testament Bible passage which inspired Janus to write the words to this ancient song. Isaiha was a Jewish prophet who lived some 700 years before Christ.

  • Thank you for teaching me. I am non-religious person as many Japanese are after WW2. I think I am more toward Buddhism in DNA level, because when something happens, I try to accept it naturally.

  • i love your music i really love finger style guitar and you are one of the best. keep it up. love life

  • Thank you. I am still on the way, so I've got to keep on.

  • Hi, you mentioned that you remember a Windham Hill compilation album with an interpretation of this tune.

It was the Grammy awarded album "Winter Solstice" and the guitarist is David Qualey who lives in Germany and still composes wonderful songs. - Have a look at his YouTube-channel "meandtaco".

    Greetings

    Play on...

  • Thank you. Yes, I know that album and that and the one done by George Winston (in December album) were the basic influence for my version. I watch David's videos sometime.

  • Great. Shivers running down my spine. Bach must have had a guitar in mind when he composed it ;-)

  • Thank you. I heard Bach loved guitar.

  • Good one! The timing signatures on this must be interesting. Happy New Year!

  • Thank you. Maybe that is why I don't write score for this. Happy New Year to you too!

  • really beautiful and individual interpretation, crisp playing as ever.

  • Thank you.

  • G'day Hiroshi, the best arrangement of this tune I've heard. Nice clean melodic playing. The use of the open strings is very effective, one of your sigatures. Regards Mark

  • Thank you. As I replied on earlier comment, it is not finished yet, and I only have a day left for this year.

  • A soothing tune to the ears ~~~

  • I am glad to hear that.

  • nice one. i play on a synphonic band, we are playing that music too :) merry Xmas

  • Thank you. This probably is the "must have" one for this season. The problem is that I stop playing after Xmas and won't start playing until next December, I never have time to finish it.

  • amazing I really love your playing

    walter

  • Hi walter

    Thank you.

  • Simply beautiful!

  • It is a beautiful song. Makes me calm.

  • nice one, its good youve got your own style, keep those beatle tunes coming.

  • Thank you. I remember one of the earlier compilation album of Windham Hill had nice guitar solo rendition of this tune.

  • Yes, that is a famous one!

  • Yes, it is!

  • I've watched alot of your vids, I subscribed weeks ago, I love fingerstyle acoustics, i'm not too good myself but I get inspiration watching videos like yours, I like your videos because, alot of people today, do complicated riffs and you can barely makeout what song they're playing, yours aren't too complicated but show how talented you are, it gives me inspiration because I know that I can play like that one day if I try hard enough, it's not an impossible dream. Merry Christmas my friend!

  • Thank you. I try to make arrangements easy enough for me to play without much challenging.

    Merry Christmas to you too!
