What is this garbage? I want to listen to music, not witness the esoteric nonsense that goes on in the head of an overly intellectual aficionado of classical music.
Hermosa... la mujer que toca el violín...Una de las mejores, sino que la mejor de Bach...Un brindis a esos poetas de la música. Se extinguieron para siempre.
Great performance, but...what's happening in this video? I don't get it. There's a random giant pendulum swinging from the ceiling, people facing the wall, cardboard walls, harpsichordist standing in a big hallway not doing anything, spectators appearing out of nowhere and then disappearing, and blah. Great music nontheless.
I played this concerto with a beautiful girl as soloist (I was the last first violin xD), and i love it (and her xD, but I don't know what to do lol). The concerto is so great, alive, magnificent, and it gives me so many pretty memories.
@SkarvikaIsABabe - haha, learn to respect the elderly, my friend. their wisdom and experience of the world is unmatched, and compared to some of them we are nothing but mere children.
@goodcommentguy: Unmatched, you say? I guess their experience has to be unmatched if you count it in years. And there's nothing "mere" about children, show some respect.
Loved the perfomace! And the video is so pretentious and outdated that I found it funny. The guy reading books on the harpischord seems almost a parody. XD
@Jagtarro i was typing on the iPhone, so it got messed up, i meant to say that concerto in E major > concerto in d minor, meaning that its harder...yea
@Jagtarro the pitch of E has changed since Bachs day. So what is now Eb would have been E back then. Middle C moves up in pitch fairly regularly believe it or not
@Eloitxo1 I don't agree about the performance, I mean it wasn't great but it didn't seem too flat to me. I definitely agree about the video though! It's like they were making a music video for Bach or something...haha
Maybe you're right and I was too harsh..anyhow I can't help it, I still feel it is too flat. I mean that of course they create different atmospheres through dynamic changes and contrasts, but in my opinion those changes are always sooo gradual, and in a veeery large scope (longe phrases) (...)
.I think much more can be done in terms of expressivity (articulation, dynamics...) in a short/small scale. There are many things that could be done within a bar, looking for the small gestures...I don't know if anyone agrees and I definitely didn't mean to sort of "give a lecture". It's just an opinion. And yes, the "genius" that "created" the video should definitely be fired.
Why? Can you explain yourself? I ask because musically the performance simply doesn´t change of add any variation. Maybe you speak about the "poetic" image of the silent girl holding a violin...
l like that menacing GIGANTIC PENDULUM just swinging back and forth between those bystanders...Why does it miss them though? I was so expecting it to hit someone at the end...LOL
@Dogaradodia : Intergalactic you bet! One of Bach's best I think. I always loved playing the first movement of this piece. It left me feeling peaceful and happy. This is an interesting way to present it and very imaginative; timeless.

The music is timeless and wonderful, but the contrived and distracting visual aspects seem more than a little ridiculous. Bach would be rolling his eyes.
The pendulum to me is not any enchancing my interest for the music. I was so touched the last 2 minutes. How can thank enough you Mr Bach? never get tired of this piece.
Listening to baroque music is always a sublime pleasure. On the visual genre, I dedicate this video, if I may, in memory of Stanley Kubrick (film maker, screen writer, movie producer), which reminds me of him. Thank you for sharing this.
i don't think bach would be rolling his eyes,he would be drooling! duh! who cares about the setting, we are living now. the soloist is tasteful..consider shakespeare modern settings. i guess it's subjective.. but we areabout the music!!! honey you are precious!

@SkarvikaIsABabe - Then why are you listening to it? haha.
Now, don't tell me that this is crap and modern music is far better. I listen to both, but here's the truth:
In about 10 years, nobody will be listening to Lady Gaga or Katy Perry.
However, the music here has been here for HUNDREDS of years.
If by 2111 the modern music we listen to now is still popular, then go ahead and call me a retard. but then that's not going to happen, is it? lol.
