There are a lot of truths to what you just said. Trough life experiences, education, and above all, keeping an open mind we all continue growing and gaining wisdom. There is nothing inherently wrong with a passionate debate (argument) as long as it doesn't turn violent. For most people it either reaffirms their beliefs, or even better, reevaluates them and open up other avenues of looking at the world.

humlakullen, unfortunately, I haven't heard more from you then the very usual logical fallacies, self-procalaimed 'common-sense' wannabe-YT-scientists present over and over and think, they would argue in a very intelligent manner. Science is commited to find knowledge - and not to hedge dogmata. It's definitivly not a religion. However, there are very basic things, you can't alter. No matter how open minded you are, since there is rock-solid observational and experimental evidence.

sacha4you. Bingo!!! We are back to square one. Wishful thinking, by the way is what encouraged science to come up with the technology necessary to put us on the moon. As far as "extraordinary claims requires extraordinary evidence", couldn't agree more. But the responsibility of coming up with that evidence is not mine. It's up to the scientists who claim all that. That's what this is all about, finding the truth!

humlakullen, you confuse things. Scientists prepare the grounds, we engineers can build useful applications around this knowledge. The times, when backyard tinkerers found scientific laws and invented big things have definitivly gone. Since rocket technology existed in the 50's it was a matter of engineering to to go to the moon. About the burden of proof you are even more wrong: Not science have to disprove all sorts of ideas, but who claims or advocates has to provide a positive proof.

Both the former russian government and the US military know that "Remote Viewing" is a real phenomena (part of reality), although science have no clue as of how to explain it. Research "Ingo Swann", one of the founders of Project Stargate. There's tons of evidence accumulated from the research they did. Can you handle more; or are you afraid of "unpredictable, serious personal problems, such as confusion and anger" as you so eloquently put it"?

humlakullen, nope again. There is not one scientific study, that ever showed a probability outcome of any alleged paranormal capability, that exceeded 50%. So you can toss a coin as well. Maybe you should at least consult Wikipedia, before you parrot such hairrising claims and weasel-words like 'tons of evidence'. Beside, that lack of conclusive results was the reason, military ceased all experiments with people who claimed having paranormal capabilities - for decades. [sic]

Why do more universities offer classes (even degrees) in paranormal studies if there is nothing to it? Meditating monks who can routinely raise/lower their body temp, blod-pressure and heart rate at will, have been studied by scientist for decades. Ordinary people finding water with dowsing-rods . Police departments consulting psychics to solve crimes. The list goes on and on

humlakullen, paranormal claims and beliefs were a mass hype during the 70's. Hence thorough studies had been carried out to verify these claims - with the result, nothing relevant could be found yet. No matter, if desperate people ignored these results. [Wikipedia] Controlling body functions is a matter of training - and has nothing to do with paranormal capabilities, since the vegetative nerve system is connected to the brain too. Before you utter nonsense, I'd check your sources.

humlakullen, if you have no idea about processes on a quantum level does not mean, all other people on this planet would sit as well like stunned bunnies in front of quantum physics textbooks. The so called macroscopic world is a statistical avarage function of quantum processes. Nothing contradicts there; particularly, we have very good candidates for multidimensional quantum GUTs (Grand Unification Theories) that bring together more, ordinary people even can imagine.
