Why do all orchestras screw up the speed at the end of this cadenza. The d minor arpeggio cues from most pianists are very easy to follow. I'd say 8 out of 10 orchestras I hear mess this climactic moment up.
@slambennett Exactly! I heard Ashkenazy with the Houston Symphony in 1974 and the same thing happened, only maybe worse. Ashkenazy did his best to help the conductor/orchestra. If anyone outdoes Yuja in this piece, Ashkenazy in his prime does. But Yuja Wang is a marvel,no doubt about it.
@slambennett I strongly believe that this is the orchestra's fault and I am yet to play this piece and i wonder if the orchestra will every hear the pianist at this part!!!! They tend to go way behind the pianist. This is not the first time it has happened to any pianist and it is certainly not the first orchestra that has done this foolishness. THEY NEED TO LISTEN!!!! Pianists not only portray what they have learned we have to learn to play with them so why can't they do the same!!!!
very nice

Oui ... c'était un beau voyage ... magnifique, Yuja.

This performance didn't fully express Prokofiev's craziness and sarcasm. Especially the effect of "cracking" notes was missed.
