It can't hurt that the animation quality seems to have been bumped up, but if it's the same director and writer...oh well, it's still better than a lot of tv anime these days anyway. I may kinda want a follow up to Memories of Phantasm more (it was just plain better directed, I think), but I'll take this any day, certainly. I for one am still looking forward to it.

If it docent have Kogasa or any other characters from UFO or Subterranean Animism I'm not watching it. People care too much about the characters from EOSD when the newer characters are much better. Also I don't really want an anime in the first place because that will give American fans another excuse not to play the great games. I on the other hand have played all the games. I want the series to only be a game and that's it.

The art and animation need some more work. The Memories of Phantasm set the bar way too high, so it's not exactly fair to compare this to that. And I see that a lot of genuine effort's been put into this, so the art didn't bother me too much. It's still release-ready grade.

Not exactly. Zun said it was fine, but he didn't want to give the impression it was an official Touhou work, so he asked them not to attach his name to it. ZUN really doesn't mind fanworks.

I could be wrong, though, I don't remember where I heard that.

Wow comparing the first and the pv for the second episode, it seems like Maikaze improved on their drawings or got new animators. From what I can tell, they still retain similar artwork, but their detail in the artwork and the eyes have improved greatly. The background and side art seems to be done by a professional though.

@AnimeTeikoku That's easy. Bleach both has money and makes money off of its episodes, thus building the requirement that more episodes be made, story applied or not. As far as I know, no one makes money off of the Touhou Anime project, be it Maikaze or ZUN. Thus, the drive to make one is purely based on opportunity and drive, which, frankly, don't match up to money. A sad truth.
