@TheTechStop I differ with your conclusion keep in mind that ships steer from the rear which means to change course the aft will swing out, also if you have seen videos of ships transferring fuel @ sea underway they always keep at least 100' apart as getting into the bow wake of the other ship will cause you to be sucked into the other ship. I do not see the stern swinging out on the SI rather the bow moving into the YM2. I agree Paul is full of $hit most of the time but not here.

These whalers couldnt care less about laws and fish anyway, they were rammed for doing so. The "Batman" boat you speak off ran out of fuel, in legal fishing grounds (Allowed to whale) and wasnt doing anything, the boat turned and ran straight over them. Therefore the whalers were at fault.

There is a difference between the "suction" created by the wake of a ship and a ship going hard-over on the rudder. The entire bow of the SI turns into the whaling vessel. That doesn't happen with suction. That happens when someone gooses the throttle.

The only reason that there is a show about the whaling is for the sheer fact that, Paul is doing something extreme (not always in a good way either!!) I admire Paul for his dedication and courage to save whales, not his methods. We all know if there were people doing something like this to save Red Pands, Tigers, ect (any endangered animal) there would be a show about it too.

Everyone should get off Paul's back. He's willing to risk his life (and his crew is willing to risk THEIR lives) to ending whaling. Yes, his methods are rash, but they're very effective. I just hope they ditch the Dutch alliance, seeing as how it's caused them more pain than gain.

@TheTechStop I differ with your conclusion keep in mind that ships steer from the rear which means to change course the aft will swing out, also if you have seen videos of ships transferring fuel @ sea underway they always keep at least 100' apart as getting into the bow wake of the other ship will cause you to be sucked into the other ship. I do not see the stern swinging out on the SI rather the bow moving into the YM2. I agree Paul is full of $hit most of the time but not here.

These whalers couldnt care less about laws and fish anyway, they were rammed for doing so. The "Batman" boat you speak off ran out of fuel, in legal fishing grounds (Allowed to whale) and wasnt doing anything, the boat turned and ran straight over them. Therefore the whalers were at fault.

I see nothing wrong with killing animals to eat, however we must also obey mans law. I deer hunt and only kill 1 deer which I freeze or can and eat. The laws are made because of people that want to take advantage and sell the meat for profit. We are not allowed to sell deer meat in WV for profit but some people do. Seriously, they are Whales, not people. If the whaling hurts your feelings in some way then work to change the laws, make them more clear and precise. They are obviously way too ambiguous as they stand. Then put into place an international "policing" force to enforce those laws. Most of these posts here say the whaling is illegal, but the Japanese interpret those same laws very differently. Many laws are like that and it is never okay to take "justice" into ones own hands.

I agree with TechStop - that was no accident. I certainly don't agree with the Japanese whalers and support Sea Shepherd's ideals, however, their actions are too full of foibles and mistakes. They're just encouraging Japanese nationalism. After all, the Japanese don't get to see "Whale Wars." They just get to see propoganda. And by intentionally ramming another vessel, as this video shows, the Steve Irwin is drawing negative international press and hurting anti-whaling sentiment everywhere.

There is a difference between the "suction" created by the wake of a ship and a ship going hard-over on the rudder. The entire bow of the SI turns into the whaling vessel. That doesn't happen with suction. That happens when someone gooses the throttle.

The Japanese want to make it look like they aren't doing anything wrong (props to them for not attacking back). The only reason that there is a show about the whaling is for the sheer fact that, Paul is doing something extreme (not always in a good way either!!) I admire Paul for his dedication and courage to save whales, not his methods. We all know if there were people doing something like this to save Red Pands, Tigers, ect (any endangered animal) there would be a show about it too.

Everyone should get off Paul's back. He's willing to risk his life (and his crew is willing to risk THEIR lives) to ending whaling. Yes, his methods are rash, but they're very effective. I just hope they ditch the Dutch alliance, seeing as how it's caused them more pain than gain.
