I have to agree - Sigrid and Marina are wonderful and no female singer from the US could hold a candle to them. You also mention Gitti and Erika (superb as well). I have not come across any one outside Europe who has ever heard of them. Stefanie Hertel and Sonja Weissensteiner are also fantasic singers.

  • @mog404 Thank you for your thoughts and the reference to Stefanie Hertel and Sonja Weissensteiner. I have been familiar with Stefanie, but now I will learn about Sonja. Yes, you are correct that Deutsche Schlager artists are generally unknown in the USA, because the mainstream media will only broadcast the corporately "approved" music from NYC and Los Angeles. Also, Schlager is politically incorrect. The culture war aside, I simply love the melody, harmony, lyrics, & spirit of this music.

  • @bboucharde

I certainly wish the mainstream media would lighten up. However, that will probably not happen. I also lke Schlager music for the same reasons. I find it very appealing and easy on the ears. I also find it useful in my quest towards German fluency. On a side note, I like the German language because it can sound really beautiful - (such as Sigrid's and Marina's version of Edelweiss.)

Did you make your trip to Europe last year?

  • @mog404 The US mainstream media is infected and indoctrinated with postmodernism, though many of the newscasters and producers don't know what it is.

For them, it is a "paradigm." Key components of that paradigm are the dismissal of Christianity and the dismantling of traditional European-Anglo culture. To answer your question, no, I did not travel to Germany last year, so I hope to do so this summer. And, I too, wish to learn more of the German language.

  • @mog404 Page 2: Have you heard Sigrid & Marina sing "Bald kommt ein neuer Tag?" They do a wonderful job with this beautiful and uplifting song. It is uploaded in two places on YouTube, but be sure to listen to the version that was uploaded by phoenixcosma on Nov 5, 2009. The other upload (by rikus45) has very distorted audio quality, so avoid it. This (the video uploaded by phoenixcosma) is the earliest (2002) performance of Sigrid & Marina that I have ever seen, but it is so beautiful!

I watched the video "Bald kommt ein neuer Tag". It is superb. Be sure and watch Stefanie Hertel's "Mit dem Augen des Herzens". She hits a grand slam with this one.

  • @mog404 Yes, I watched that video, and she is excellent. Stefanie also does great work with "Und weil's so schön war... noch einmal."

  • @bboucharde

Stefanie is simply awsome - she has style, beauty, talent and from what I have read, class.

I have friends in Oberbayern. I will be visiting them this September. Maybe I will be able to see the filming of one of Stefanie's videos.

  • Shame Europeans and Germans are going extinct, Turks are overpopulating Germany and will be the majority soon.. so sad :| oh well

  • SAM MIÓD

  • Beautiful.

  • Of course this is a beautiful video by wonderful ladies, but it also reminds us why Austria is worth defending. Thats why the Virgin Mary & Christ are "beschütz die Heimat." Yes, this is very pretty, but it means much more than some of you can imagine.

  • @bboucharde - I agree! It´s time to defend our Home Countries. To stand up against destruction our fatherland by milticriminal (sic!) immigrants.

  • @bavarikus Thank you for your thoughts. Sigrid & Marina are wonderful, and they are the personification of the Europe that we must defend. They are better than ANY female singers in the USA. They sing in the tradition of Gitti & Erika, who have been super ambassadors of Deutschland for more than 30 years. Gaby Albrecht and Judtih & Mel are also on my list of Schlager favorites. I hope to visit Germany & Austria next summer. All the best to you in your business.

    Respectfully,
