  • I want to replace the motherboard in my laptop of the same kind in this video, but I am afraid that the new motherboard will have some variances that will not fit or work in my current laptop. Is there anything I can do to insure I get the correct motherboard the first time?

  • "screw the mainboard" :D

  • Crappy music. You should be explaining to people what you're doing. Or did you think they'd just rather hear music instead of actual help?

  • Great video! Helped me big time, thanks again!

  • this is a waste of time, there is a manufacturing defect in these boards.

you are just replacing a bad board with another defective board.

  • @Astroman89 That is too true. I fucking had HP replace my wireless card for free, and then as soon as the warranty was up, it went bad again( because they replaced it with more shitty stuff).

  • @gridsinister If you had this model or a similar one, chances are your wireless didn't actually go bad. This board has a defect in it, one of the symptoms is the wireless stops working..it's not the card, but actually the board, the only temporary fix is to get a USB wireless adapter until the laptop stops working all together, the other symptoms include the screen not coming on, not turning on at all, or only turning on sometimes.

  • What a waste, nice job showing how to get at the motherboard by taking the laptop a part. Epic fail...

  • This really helped me change out the motherboard in my DV6000. Thank-you for posting! I just wish I could remember what color screw went where.

  • i also have a dv6000, and it crashed 3 or 4 times today...and it's because of NVIDIA Graphic Driver problem...can it still be fixed?

  • seen how fast he's working he must be desperate to eat that slice of cake on the side

i have a plan for my HP in includes lighter fluid, a drill, a hammer, a bbq, matches, 8 cans lager and a sniper rifel

  • Hey thanks very much for the video! I've used it twice now to disassembly (and most importantly, reassembly) my laptop just to unblock the fan vents and stop GPU & CPU overheating. Would have been impossible without this excellent video.

Is there an easier way to clear out all the dust (rather than taking the whole computer apart) and or stop the dust from getting in there in the first place?

    Thanks.

  • Not really professinell.

Forget anti static belt and heat sink paste. Seen in all his videos. Not a good service.

And most new notebooks don't have a CMOS battery, its a capacitor now.

  • @Burkhardj I see a anti-static mat...

  • @task514 shure, but no belt.. The mat alone does'nt work. Person charged = current flow and with the mat you have a perfect CMOS / FET killer

  • @Burkhardj you don't have a idea, how many notebooks we repair daily... so just let this unprofessional coments. Thanks

  • @sparepartworld last time i tried this i blew up the motherboard.... now i 'm having problem with the dvd it plays when it feels like it, now it just running but wont play i restored the laptop but still wont play anything just keep running now i'm thinking of open it and take a look at the cable but i'm worried not to know how to put it back in again. it's the same model, any advice??

  • Comment removed

  • @sparepartworld EXACTLY!

I am NO pro but i prefer to try and fix these computers before i give up on them

  • @Burkhardj the hell?

  • @Burkhardj profesionals don't need anti static belt, we have such easyer tricks. And we don't forget the thermal paste, there are thermal pads. We repair damaged notebooks, and the most notebooks, which are become damaged, are not new...

  • @sparepartworld This guys spelling tells you not to let him touch anything of yours. Lol!

  • @Burkhardj

I've repaired tons of computers, I've never needed anti-static belts. You ground yourself before working to stop discharge. Thermal Paste is really n/a either, if you're working on a Notebook, you use Thermal Pads. Believe me, you DONT want thermal paste on a motherboard.

  • @Burkhardj the heatsink on most hp laptops have a shield instead of paste

  • @Burkhardj

Don't need antistatic belt (what are you from the 70s?), there are much easier methods of 'discharging' oneself

There is a thermal pad, removing it would be laborious, time consuming, and ultimately pointless, thats why its a thermal pad, it doesn;t need replacing (most often)

How often do you repair 'new notebooks' ... ? lol

  • @Burkhardj Becides, I never discharge when i work on computers or use wriststraps

Ask my comtech teacher,he says its a waste and 1 in 100 computers fry from no discharge

    I think its 1 in 9000

  • @irulethe70s it sure would suck if your computer were the 1 in 100

  • @lucilor Never had a probloem

  • Hallo, ein echt gelungenes Video... =)

Ich habe auch ein HP DV6733eg und bin unzufrieden, mein Laptop geht bei überhitzung immer aus nun tausch ich das Mainboard aus und hoffe das es funktioniert.

  • Hey, I have a Pavillion dv6449us. It is all I have to use for gaming. I want to replace my video card with something newer. Would that be possible? I cannot find any disassembly manuals on the internet.

  • @darklink701 no, that isn't possible! sorry. the gpu is on-board

  • You can learn how to fix a laptop here bit[dot]ly[slash]aXeNEr

  • This music is AWFUL.

  • Thermal paste and no obstructions to the fan ports are the way to go. I set mine bottom side up when I leave it.

  • wtf why do u have a piece of cake on the table? :D

  • no offense, but change is waste of money.... after few months nvidia graphics chip will fry up goz the cooling system is fail.

  • thanks for your video.

  • This is a group for anyone who has faced problems with hp products specialy laptops. One defect of the Hp pavilion laptops ( DV 2000, 6000, 9000) is the motherboard problem and VGA ( graphics card ). Perhaps together we can bring this aware to HP.

  • yes you must apply thermal paste between the gpu,cpu cooling conductive systems otherwise the computer fail to work sooner or later

  • yes you must apply thermal paste between the gpu,cpu cooling conductive systems otherwise the computer fail to work sooner or later

  • did you use thermal compound between d cpu, video chip, b4 you put d heat sink???

if you do! do you need to heat up the video chip for it work properly or you can just put it on n it will work! i need to know this anyone plz?? thanks

  • Can a motherboard make a your lap tap not work

  • I need some help, i accidentally, while cleanin it, pop out the esc key, the keyboard is fine, just the esc key is now in my hand, am i try to put it again, but im afraid that i can't. I dont broke anithing, bya miracle, hehehe, and the esc key (or where it used to be) works fine. Anyone that can kindly help me, with a video or a pic tutorial, you know, because this lap is of my boss, and i think he can get really mad if he see teh computer one of these days.

  • you don't do anything to the factory installed pcm pads on the gpu or cpu, or replace the heat conductive pad on the northbridge with copper, as some suggest. so how reliable is the replaced board in the long run? no issues due to bad cooling?

  • Hey, I have dv6000 laptop and when i turn it on, it turns on, then shuts off, then keeps repeating itself until I turn it off manually. My motherboard has went out several times before, and I have got it replaced by HP, so i bought a motherboard, and just installed it. When i put everything back together, it did the same exact thing.. It would turn on, and turn off, over and over again. Got any idea what else it could be, besides my mobo?

  • @PrinceOfTheElite I've taken the RAM out, started it, and it just keeps restarting, I've taken the harddrive out, and the same thing also, just keeps restarting over and over.... Any other ideas?

  • Awesome video!! i have a question though. i watched your video many times and then took my dv6000 apart to clean the fan out. When i put everything back together it now only turns on for like 2-3 sec, sometimes see the hp sign on screen and it powers down right away did i forge to do something or maybe break a wire?

  • Exactly the vidoe I was looking for

    Thanks

  • just by the way.. the song used in this is using the melody of the classic 2001 track "Dance Nation - Sunshine" ...

i KNEW i heard that melody before.. :D

  • Ive the pavilion dv6000 and I cant switch it on. Can someone help me if is the video problem or the mother board is gone?? When I press the power button all it do is the led are on for second and thats it. HELP!!!!

  • Those HP DV6000 are complete garbage.

I will never buy HP again.

  • Do you sell parts off of old Dv6000 HP mother boards. I live in the USA and it would cost me a bundle to ship my laptop to you and get it back. I need the clip and bracket that holds the cable to the mother board from the key board. Mine has came unsoldered from the heat and broke.

  • I just did a parts swap between two of my HP laptops.

Does anyone know if the graphics card can be removed? From what I could see, it was completely integrated (glued down with no screws for removal). I'm having to use an older motherboard with a slightly messed up sound card just so that I can reap the benefits of the better graphics card. If I could only remove the graphics card and put it on the newer motherboard, I'd be set...

  • That is some good shit! Put back faster than what it would have taken me, even if you did speed it up. Anyways, yes people, unfortunately hps are NOTORIOUS for MoBo failures :(

  • how was your pie? :D

  • Thank so much!!!!!!! I took mine apart waiting for my new MOBO, and this is the video i need to put it back together. Since it will be a week until I put it back together, I'll probably forget how to! You did wonders!!! BTW -- HP sucks, this is my 3rd motherboard, the other two were covered on warranty, this one I have to buy, because now my warranty is over.

  • Nice Jop! I have a dv5, is thiss th same board????

    It overhead! thx

  • Try my copper shim instead of a penny and keep the temperature it's lowest. Search for TX1000 copper shim on ebay. Thermal paste is included free.

  • lmfaoo i love how theres a piece of cake sitting right next to you xD

  • @randomxashunn Duh how else is he going to get rewarded?

  • what about zd 7000 with their Black Screen Of Death...

i wish i even knew where the video card was

  • man i'm glad i found this

i'm kinda screws, since i bought my hp6000 in canada and i'm currently in croatia, and guess what? it overheats as hell!!!

now it's almost dead, i have to struggle with lagging (even this video lags!!) when i open anything! and it started to show some hard disk failures..... i don't think they will replace the motherboard 4 free, so i can start asking around

HOW much does new MB cost?

(also, can i buy one that is compatible with better proc and graphic card?)

  • Have you checked the HP website? There was a recall on some of these- and it was because of the motherboard. Check it out.

  • I can't find any recalls regarding to this problem. Just some stupid battery recall, like that's gonna change anything. I can use my laptop without battery, it still lags as hell. One thing is for sure I will never ever buy anything from HP, not even that surface for mice they have.

  • @losebiramnickove dont even think of going mac...your just wasting money...buy an asus or something...those are pretty good...

  • hi...what is the problems with like it's won't turn on..just sometime..or sometime like power on or off but it's won't on..but sometime like i keep power on and it's turn on by itself...hard to explain...i mean like sometime i turn it on..i won't on...and the power can on and off on and off...like that..i need ur help..thx..bros..!!

  • i have a problem with my Hp dv6000 cam...when i want to use it, my computer tells me to plug it in, the computer tells me that i don't have any web camera...i want to know why my computer doesn't recognize the camera if it is built in my computer....can you help me??

  • @GeNgaRtiC that is most likely a driver issue. go to the HP site and look for the dv6000 cam driver for your os.

  • lol you make that shit look easy :P

  • @BlakeKawalec

Its really not that bad, esp. if you have the tech manual for the laptop (it describes how to take apart and reassemble every component of the laptop, they are easy to obtain for most laptops), take note of every action you take, use basic common sense, and be careful and you can make most repairs to a laptop yourself.

  • my problem is that can have does motherboard or way can order from you or at hp company?but any thank for the info......

  • it seems like everything is working fine now after replaceing my motherboard and now i have a black screen, nothing is showing on my screen

  • i just changed my motherboard and now my dispaly is black screen nothing comes on my display, how do i fix that

  • yes i called hp to see what they say...and omg they said that its my motherboard since im not getting anything...so what do you think? is it the motherboard

  • hp have very big problem with the dv6000 mainboards! just google it and find 1000 others with the same problems. dv6000 and dv9000 mainboards have a constructing failed. they overheat!

  • thanks

  • can you tell me what to do now? my warranty is out, my hp dv6000 is kinda dying......

  • ikr, same thing is happening to me, have already had it repaired TWICE, it's really not worth the effort...

  • @sparepartworld

    my not ^^

  • i dont know what to replace...can you tell me so i can buy it from you....the problem with my laptop is that it starts everything lights on with in 1second it turns off nothing comes on the screen

  • the mainboard. the fact is, we don't sell the mainboards or displays, we only change it in our work station.

  • @sparepartworld that's amazing , nice job . i saw when you plug the wifi card , i have the same on i thing (intel 3945abg) , the thing is (can i change it for another one ??)

  • @adnanosmani yeah ive dv6 2056el and ive same problem...i sent it to hp and they said "problem not found"...and ive another problem...sometime it find 2gb of ram instead 4gb!!!why??:(

  • Your good!

  • screw the mainboard......word choice fail! lol

  • everyone know what is meened

  • can you show me wireless lan cables replacement

  • phindele you again... i have answered you late, but i have. :-)

  • Great video!!

  • You forgot to put termal cpu past on you cpu dumbass xD

  • i really don't wanna answer this a 10th time... but i do:

by this modell there is a mix between thermal-pads and thermal paste on the heatsink. So no thermal past needed!

    (loving CRTL+C and CRTL+V)

  • felicidades es una buena tecnica, claro eso asi se hace, y buena calidad de video. bueno para el que tiene el conocimiento basico es mas sencillo. gracias.

  • I have the same problem as qrshlus, and also changed MB and problem persists. Where else can the problem be. HELP!

  • I think thats a bad mainboard, too. HP have very big problems with this boards! and now they don't produce tehm any more. So there are not many working mainboards. the most are damagaed!

  • Hi, nice video, one question... I have a problem when I power up my laptop, the fan over the processor starts turning, the power LED is on but there is no signal to the monitor or any reaction from the processor... I replaced the motherboard, same problem. Does anyone know how to solve this problem, is it the processor or something?

  • The most likely scenario is the board you installed is bad as well. It was probably a used/refurbished board, that worked for a few days then died before it got to you. This is a common problem with HP boards.

  • I think thats a bad mainboard, too. HP have very big problems with this boards! and now they don't produce tehm any more. So there are not many working mainboards. the most are damagaed!

  • I may have to to just this procedure.

I responded with a video. machine won't power up, power LED around the power plug pulsates.

  • do it some "peep" sounds when power on?

  • Cool, I'm too scared to do that to my own laptop but I'll do it when I really need to do it. Thanks for the vid

  • can you change the video card on this computer?

  • You need to replace the entire motherboard because the video card in this notebook and many others are build in. And because of that you can't upgrade the video card. On many of these HP notebooks the graphics card dies very quickly, it happed on mine too :(.

  • Joh739 said it. it isn't possible!

  • Very good video. I would be of great help if you could show how the keyboard cable is plugged in. I had to search another site to find out about the sliding lock. Very good video though. Took me about 2 hours to replace the board and this was the first time I have every replaced a laptop mother board. Thanks Scott
