this video is adorable :) I hope my parrotlets bond with me eventually so i can be so interactive with them. Do you have to work hard on gaining their trust I have only had mine 2 weeks and i they are still wary of me
so cute, mine cuddles all the time, suckles my nail and she always has to be touching my finger or hand. will almost laydown and stay there for hour or more. in day time, she cuddles when i have nap on side of my face. just like a puppy dog follows me around. great pets to have but it takes time to bond.
any suggestions on how to tame a parrolet? i work at a pet store and we have a parrolet that im trying to tame. ive tried giving him treats and holding him almost on a daily basis. hes really territorial about his cage but when hes out hes nice.
we also have a quaker parrot that ive tamed, i just cant seem to get the parrolet to be people friendly
@button7777777 i think they stay territorial about their cage and certain areas. they will take over if you let them. can take year maybe more? to bond super close and they won't bond with everyone. i'm lucky i think that she bonds with both hubby and I but we spent years playing with her and letting her get confident about her surroundings. i never used treats. i would use the good girl high voice praise her and say kisskiss my finger tip (which she does) &she knows that is praising her.
@button7777777 if u still have the parrrolet it might just not have found anyone it likes yet, some cockatoos r that way, they only bond with one person and they r super picky about it too. also if u still have it how much u want for it I have all the time in the world to work with it and I am a bird lover and I have always wanted one.
ahh... that is so sweet. aren't parrotlets just the cutest creatures. I have a male and a female. my male thinks I can't go anywhere without HIM. LOL! my female is very docile and sweet. great job you have done when it comes to them trusting you. they look well care for and spoiled. :)
@greenace2 Every bird has it's own likes and dislikes.
My budgies are tame, but they won't ever come close. They simply don't feel comfortable.
My previous budgie just loved to be played with. I could pick him up, squeeze him (softly, of course!), put him on his back. Hell, I could even throw him up in the air, and he'd simply flutter back down on my hand.
This is SOOOO cute. I want two parrotlets!!! This is absolutely adorable and your birds have such a bond with you. I have a blue budgie that lets me preen him and pet him. :)
scuse me, those birds dont seem to mind it if theyre going to sleep, if they were uncomfortable they woulda moved, her hand isnt squishing them down. ignorant person.
Just because yours hate it doesn't mean others do. Some hate being scratched on the head and others love it. Don't generalize. They don't seem to be objecting. I hate rude people. I will say that the nail polish needs to go :P LOL JK...Sweet birds! Keep up the good work. They seem to love you just fine!
Just so you know, parrotlets are truly tiny and two can easily fit under a human's hand. And if either were uncomfortable, they would have walked out from under her hand. So there ya go! :-)
I'd come close to agreeing. Such a beautiful example of love and trust between a human and a bird. Loved how the one on the right finally nodded off at the end.

@greenace2 No you don't. You know what YOUR birds like. Every bird is different, just like people. Read some.
