Isabella Plays Beethoven's Tempest Sonata mvt. 3

The best version I've seen on youtube so far. This is supposed to be a tempest, a raging storm, and her speed matches that. All other interpretations don't seem to get that.

It is certainly not too fast. Remember it is an allegretto! I think it is the way Beethoven had intended it......

You put the emotion in the piece that the others lack by playing too slowly... When I heard the other versions, I felt like it was missing something, maybe missing the right pace, or courage to play strongly, or whatever. And when I got to your video, I just found what was missing!

it's really a good interpretation, but, if i can, beethoven wrote tempest for 3/8 tempo, so 2/16 + 2/16 + 2/16. Here, instead, you play 2/4 with triplets. But also many great players fall into this trap :)

I like Beethoven played fast as well. There are some early notes of his that indicate faster pace is what he wanted. I will now listen to more of ths artist.

Very very well played. Most players just choose pace too slow with Beethoven. You gotta play Beethoven fast. The only way his works really open and develope. Except of middle parts like adagio andante etc. But this one here really is real powerful and flows like clouds through the storm. Pretty.

may i still suggest taking some breath here and there (as very well done at 0:57-0:58), especially to add more weight on transitions? (i hope that's how it's called in english... ^^)

don't know much about beethoven's own taste, but i personally prefer when interpret guides the audience a little more, despite the text. ^__^

I really like this! The speed suits my taste. Also, it's not played too soft, it has passion. I find it simillar to Astanova's rendition, which is my favorite one of this movement. Keep up the good work!

Yes, the spirit of your playing is excellent! Some historians think you are supposed to feel like you are on a horse and I did, when hearing yours! Maybe a bit fast in some spots but superb! You have the feeling, and will slow down with age as you learn to control your power.

Good recording, good acoustics, good piano. Tempo is good, pedal is good. You jumped all the hurdles. The syncopation at 1:15 and 4:oo is great. Technique is excellent. One of the best recordings of all time and I've heard them all.
