I think whats great is that annette isnt trying to be anyone but herself, and i think her vocal style, image etc is showing that. no one could step into nightwish and try to be another tarja, i think they made a great choice in getting annette because her vocals are strong and in a completely different direction. whats bothering people more than anything i think is just the fact its different. plus its live, and tarja wasnt exactly a perfectionist! i think annettes great! kudos for the clip!

im in agree with u, in wishmaster uf we saw she cant sing it, but is not a bad singer the only bad thing is that u was getting used to the voice of tarja, anette is not the best but no the loser
She can get better with Wishmaster. The Anette/Marco duet they're doing can be refined a bit to sound good. Some of the other songs are trickier, but Wishmaster itself isn't that bad for her, especially since the song's dynamic has been changed.
Additionally: You know, it occurs to me that upon hearing Anette singing the old songs that, she obviously can't do operatic, that's no question, but her voice has a sort of whispy quality, almost like a ghost, that if she worked on it a bit she could have her own unique sort of ghosty sound. It'd be a bit more metal than what she's doing now, and would work better with the older songs as well.
Just a thought. Something I noticed when her voice trails off.

The band plays it, I'm not saying that Tuomas IS the band, but he writes songs about himself, describing himself as an Ocean Soul. Music can't be compared with a movie .. you just don't want to accept what is obvious - nightwish changed its roots. It's not just the change that happens in a new album. Soul is the same but it explodes with another kind of emotions. Tuomas changed, music changed, soul can't be changed but the water where it is-changed so it is not OCEAN any more. Even if it is still an ocean, maybe it changed the depth or the temperature, or flora or fauna inside and I simply don't like that environment. The whole IDEA changed! Understand?

Anette didn't change it. Tuomas did when he invented music for the new album. Nightwish didn't chnge anything spectacular from one album to another in the past. But this time...the change is radical and fundamental. Nightwish is still nightwish by the way (it carries the same name) but the "wish" is now completely different.
If they'd rerecrord this song with Anette, I'd just throw my 'Century Child'-album through my window. This is so much better! She really gives some power to the song, which I missed when Tarja sang it. Although the ending still sounds at bit weird :) Why didn't they just leave that part out ..

Like the director of a movie is not the movie itself. Try to put another actor to play the role of Hannibal Lector instead of Anthony Hopkins for example - and you destroyed the whole movie.

Sorry any of you. Anette is tight and pronounces the words correct. She doing well, very well despite it is her very first tour with NW. If she don't sing any "old" NW songs, a gig will only last about 50 minutes, as they do not yet have enough "Anette-stuff" to complete an entire set.

Anette sure does have a good voice and i love the new album but in this kind of songs i really miss Tarja.....i think she controles her voice in some parts more as Anette does.

That has nothing to do with it! Tuomas writes all the music and all the lyrics! The band plays it, I'm not saying that Tuomas IS the band, but he writes songs about himself, describing himself as an Ocean Soul. Music can't be compared with a movie .. I'm just saying, nobody can change the 'real' soul of Nightwish. Only Tuomas, cause he invents the whole thing.

you just don't want to accept what is obvious - nightwish changed its roots. It's not just the change that happens in a new album. Soul is the same but it explodes with another kind of emotions. Tuomas changed, music changed, soul can't be changed but the water where it is-changed so it is not OCEAN any more. Even if it is still an ocean, maybe it changed the depth or the temperature, or flora or fauna inside and I simply don't like that environment. The whole IDEA changed! Understand?

Anette didn't change it. Tuomas did when he invented music for the new album. Nightwish didn't chnge anything spectacular from one album to another in the past. But this time...the change is radical and fundamental. Nightwish is still nightwish by the way (it carries the same name) but the "wish" is now completely different.

If they'd rerecrord this song with Anette, I'd just throw my 'Century Child'-album through my window. This is so much better! She really gives some power to the song, which I missed when Tarja sang it. Although the ending still sounds at bit weird :) Why didn't they just leave that part out ..

as far as I know, he is a composer and a keyboard player in this band. I don't deny that what he does in this band is a thing of great responsibility. Acctualy, I admit that he is keeping the band together and that they all play music he invented. But, that doesn't mean that he IS the whole band. Like the director of a movie is not the movie itself. Try to put another actor to play the role of Hannibal Lector instead of Anthony Hopkins for example - and you destroyed the whole movie.

Their are performances you have in which is your worst and then you have a really good one. No one is perfect. Has NW really had a perfect show everytime they have a concert? Also, it's Anette first time with NW so give her time. Personally, she could be worse. She is trying the best she can. Leave her alone!

Sorry any of you. Anette is tight and pronounces the words correct. She doing well, very well despite it is her very first tour with NW. If she don't sing any "old" NW songs, a gig will only last about 50 minutes, as they do not yet have enough "Anette-stuff" to complete an entire set.
So tight up guys/girls. Anette will be a blaster soon. She has a great voice and will gain more and more control over it, in time..

Anette is good, but now I know what I miss in her voice (I try to explain it in english):
Tarjas coloraturas sounded like strings.
Especially in this song - the 'original' sounds a bit like the music in this hitchcock movie, when someones murdered under the shower
