So hows that excluding almost everyone from the legislation process except for the dem leadership working out for you?
Well.... I guess that is bi-partisan exclusion. My senators are both dems, I know they didn't have a say in healthcare, the stimulus, and a couple other pieces of major legislation and they STILL voted in favor of all of it though, go senators!
Really, I'm voting against you, you can leave my state now
2006 was an election year also. Dems promised us that if they were elected then we will have change.
We elected them to majority status in both the house and senate. Since then gas has doubled from $2 to $4, food, shelter, utilities and taxes have all gone up. Families losing their homes to foreclosure and banks going under have gone way up. Now we have another dem wanting to be president on the change platform, I'm sorry Melissa but I cant afford to give my last bit of change.
Obama is conservative on some issues -- ending the war in Iraq, warantless wiretapping etc. but liberal on others -- open borders, and abortion. However, he's preferable to the other two candidates who will surely keep American entrenched in Iraq. Iraq is too much of a burden and as long as it persists we cannot tackle other major issues. Ending the war in Iraq should be our country's number one concern.
The single most important issue for Americans should be who writes the domestic laws which effect our daily lives. It would be ideal if domestic laws were created ONLY at the state and local levels where the least amount of burocracy stands between the people and the process. But too many domestic laws have been created at the federal level where the burocracy and special interests hold so much legal authority that the people are powerless to protect their rights from all the legal injustice.
Obama has ties to the Black Panthers, the Weathermen, and the Nation of Islam. How do you square that? The Clinton campaign promises more bombshells to come, can Obama take much more scrutiny?
Obama is a racist liar and con-artist. I could never vote for that p.o.s.
Con Artist? Liar? Blank Panther movement is pretty much dead anyways. And what could we call president Bush, godly honest.Ummif u wanna blow ur mind look up Rothchilds. Ask if the Fed Reserve is a government building. How bout the money in your pocket.Does it say government currency or fed reserve note.Look up the founders of the Fed reserve. look up whos family records were in WTC #7. America wake up.Bush has already passed the dictatorship law.We have to ensure an election or buy a firearm.
You think Obama is going to change any of that? You're kidding yourself. Obama is going to fuck this country up worse than Jimmy Carter did.
Guess what? Bush is not running in November, but we are going to have to survive the next administration. The Democrats will raise taxes, try again to disarm the populace, and push a socialist agenda.
You still need to buy a firearm, friend, because it's stupid to throw rocks in a gun fight. Civil war is coming.
Whenever the subject of party comes up, I always have to post this quote:
"One of the expedients of party to acquire influence, within particular districts, is to misrepresent the opinions and aims of other districts. You cannot shield yourselves too much against the jealousies and heart-burnings, which spring from these misrepresentations; they tend to render alien to each other those, who ought to be bound together by fraternal affection." - George Washington
Anyone in any legislative body will tell you that they spend as much time stopping what they perceive as bad ideas and they do proposing their own. Gridlock is not bad if it stops bad ideas.
As an aside, while McCain has proven he can work with Democrats and is even endorsed by the Democrat's former VP candidate, no Republicans will work with Obama. He is simply too far left.
At some point, someone will look at Obama and say that the emperor has no clothes.
baaaaahhhh... . baaaaahhhh... meeeh.. meeehh.. baaaaahhhhh.... where is the herd leading me to now? Ahh.. this nice door with the saws running inside... maaaaahhhh.. mmaaaahhhh...
hmmm. I remember eight years ago when this governor from texas was being for the way he worked in a bi-partison manor with the democratically controlled state legislature. And in the Clinton presidency bi-partisonship brought us NAFTA, and draconian welfare reform.
It's hard to pinpoint a single issue as most important. If any significant issue is ignored, it's a crime. We need to get the fuck out of Iraq, and pay the rest of the world a little respect and cooperation. We need to fix the economy, including going significantly toward allowing people to take care of themselves (and letting them suffer when they don't) instead of the government creating legions of American leeches, and we need stop the fast erosion of civil liberties and privacy.
Reminds me when ann coulter said she would campaign for clinton if McCain got the nomination... pretty sure hillary didn't really want that. But speaking of Bipartisanship Mccain is probably the most of the three, (note hillary clinton supporter) he has sponsored so much legislation with democrats.
I fail to see how being an extreme leftist on every single position means Obama is trying to attract me, a conservative.
If he wants to attract me he can start by, becoming more pro-life, more pro military, more anti-taxes, more anti-welfare state, more anti-global warming fearmongering, more anti-socialized healthcare.
But he isn't going to do any of those things, so why do you expect me to surrender and enbrace him if he' not willing to bend his extremist positions even a little for us?
Funny that you'd denote Obama as the wedge breaking candidate, especially since it seems as though the reason for his triumph so far was positioning himself on the far left b/c Hilary had made the mistake of assuming she had the nomination in the bag, and thus put herself in a more centered position to catch swing voters causing her to partly lose the democratic base. Its just kind of ironic that the the more wholly "democratic" candidate would be the one better able to break the partisan gap.
Right now the whole world thinks Americans are torture-happy sickos who love bombing innocent civilians from the air and throwing innocent Afghan truck drivers into indefinite detention without any access to a lawyer and without ANY charges being filed against them at all.
I'm out of space. Google "extraordinary rendition", turning suspects over to foreign countries to be tortured further.
The single most important issue this year is the struggle the next President will have convincing the world that America has respect for its own values, for the rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution, for human rights, and for international law.
Obama doesnt havent a chance! Dont through away your vote. Vote Republican ( John McCain ). I still like you Jenna but alittle bit of addvice, talk about somthing different in your videos. He uses the race card way to much and he lies. Do you really want someone in the White House like that? I sure dont. Good Luck to you.
It's comments like this that drives wedges between parties. Your attempt to re-frame the debate into a simple pro or anti immigration issue is about as absurd as republicans labeling democrats as "unpatriotic" simply because they have a desire to end the war. Of course republicans aren't opposed to immigration. It's made America what it is. They are opposed to ILLEGAL immigration. Breaking the law and entering our country ILLEGALLY. Debate the actual issue and maybe you'll have more success.
OK...it is so scarry to believe that peole out there are still so ignorant. It is 2008 people, wake up. There is no such thing as Bi-partasim anymore. This Demo/Rep party affiliation is a farse....
I hope you're not suggesting that a one party state would be better. We need more than two parties, we need to accept that we all have dividing opinions, not just left and right. The mainstream media polarizes us into these two teams.
"tastes great" vs "less filling"
Either way, we are being fed the same piss water beer from the same corporation.
Interesting video. But there are some legitimately divisive issues in politics that can't be compromised. Abortion is one of them. I support Obama because he is a seasoned fighter for transparency and accountability in government, but I have no misconceptions he'll be able to bring compromise to the difficult partisan issues this country is facing.
While I am not a fan of McCain he definately has more of a track record of bringing the parties together.
If I were an Obama supporter I would be focusing on: Our guy is cool. Our guy is articulate. Our guy had the political savvy to take down the Clinton machine.
It's interesting how I - non-American and overall tired of hearing of your election and politics (I'm not interested in the politics of my own country either, by the way) - can still watch this video twice in a row, and find it interesting. You make me wanna care, at least a little bit. Good job!
i'm an american and i'm sick of it already. everything is already set up for the next government to take over. they just let us go through the motions like we have some kind of input. which we have zero say in anything that goes on here and for people to say "get out and vote" that doesn't mean anything. do you really think anyone in their right mind really put mccain in as a presidential hopeful? that's insane. i'll guarantee you 100% that's the next president. and no, we didn't vote for him.
What's wrong with division? What's wrong with underlying political differences? If you really want to end Partisanship, just eliminate the two parties and create the Non Partisan Nationalist Party of Obama or something.
That was her april fools-joke. :) You should have clicked the link in the description of that video! Not only did it explain that it was a joke, it also makes you not know whether to laugh or cry... well, at least it did for me. :D
This is such an important issue, and I'm so glad that you care so much about it. Party lines divide us and it is tearing our country and our ability to lead apart. <33

Bi partisanship is a lie.
It is the mingling of two world views that only results in a convoluted policy that solves nothing.
It is better to have a system of belief with is strong enough to stand on its own and inspire.
Frankly I have not heard that from either party and certainly not Obama who seems to be giving absolutely abysmal solutions.
