  • I took metformin and thank God didnt have the poops lol. A little stomach problems the first day nothing serious or painful.

  • first time i was on metformin, i was fine. no side effects (SE) or anything. but, i had to stop for a few months and after that long break, i need to go back. the SE are killing me this time! i can barely get the pill down my throat too... all of a sudden it feels too big, has a bad taste, and thinking of the nausea, dizzyness, diarrhea, gagging, and sometimes vomiting discourages me from taking the pills at all. but my doc keeps telling me to push through... says SE WILL eventually go away :-(

  • There are other drugs that have liveable side effects unlike the Metformin. Sometimes we have to tell the doc that it's not going that way.

  • When I started metformin I was instructed to increase my daily dosage very slowly until the goal dosage to lessen the effects of upset stomach/diarrhea, it worked for me. For four days I took 250 mg in the morning, then four days 500 mg in the morning, then four days 500 mg in the morning with 250 mg at night, then finally 500 mg in the morning and 500 mg at night. Since I initially started metformin (3 weeks ago) I have lost 3 pounds with a healthy diet and I hope to see more improvement soon.

  • Also, metformin interferes with the bodies ability to absorb vitamin B12. Without enough B12, the bones can not make good red blood cells, instead releasing ones that are immature or malformed into the blood stream. These deficient blood cells can not do there job effectively, which is part of where the fatigue, malaise and a host of other problems come from.

  • If your doctor does not go over drug side effects with you, get a different doctor. Also, pharmacists hand out multi page sheets of information with Rx's. If yours didn't do that, get a different pharmacist.

Why in the world would you put yourself through that for 6 months?! That's seriously dangerous to your health to wait that long.

If you are having serious or problematic side effects, call your doctor right away. If your doc is unhelpful, schedule an appointment with a different doctor.

  • Part 2: But I was going to ignore that voice in my head because I'm frustrated, I saw your video exactly when I was at a crossroads and it popped up randomly, I know God is working and he used you to reaffirm that there's another way to live and not to submit to my current circumstances. I'm so thankful you shared this with us, and I l know this video is old so I hope everything has improved for you,and your in my prayers. Now back to glamour, i'm focusing on making my dreams come true lol!

  • Part 1:I just want to tell you God is working through you.I've watched you for so long and never knew you had pcos.I was on YT today looking for videos on how to start my kit for freelancing and I saw this video when I've been debating the past couple of days wether to restart the meds b/c I only took them for a short time, the doctor put me on them to regulate my weight because my main symptom was rapid weight gain. I've been praying about it and,in my heart I know it's not right for me ...

  • Awe man. You give me so much hope. The last part that you said is how I feel. Tears. We will be mothers!

  • To be honest. If I forget to take the Metformin I feel 10 times better, than when I actually take the damn things. I am ovulating regular. But the problem is not me anymore... That's another story. But as you said & as I believe... Everything happens for a reason. Good luck sweetie x

  • Amen Sister! This is very very helpful. I found out I had pcos & diabetes the same day, a few years ago. My Metformin has been doubled & they got me on Gliclazide. Been having some serious major bloating problems!!! & I believe it's the Metformin. Gonna try taking the Met after 2 spoons of dinner & see what happens. I'm seriously thinking of just going on the insulin. That's how bad my stomach feels

  • thank you soo very much for sharing i truely identify with you. really is let go and let God yes.

  • and the pain. my belly hurt me like crazy i could hardly work

  • Just to chime in...the herb sage, when dranked as a loose leaf tea, does for the body what Metformin does. I provide alternative methods for women with PCOS having had it myself so ladies I understand the frustration! Keep healing yourselves! Peace!

  • I think the reason you couldn't tolerate Metformin after even the first 4 weeks was because of what time of the meal you took it. If I take Metformin in the middle of my meal or at the end of my meal, I feel miserable. But if I take Metformin after 2 spoonfulls of food at the BEGINNING of the meal, I'm set. Also, eating foods that are healthier for you, believe it or not, lesson the side effects on this. Eating in moderation also helps. Taking Metformin and a buffet of food is a very bad idea.

  • I started metformin about a month ago. My doctor started me out with 2000mg a day. Besides some bad bloating for a week it is going great. I have already ovulated after at least four months without. I'm on the extended release version .

  • It is as though this video was posted just for me, thank you for sharing. I just had a good cry!

  • Man, I'm lucky. On 1500mg and didn't have more than a bit of soft stool the first few days. But my doctor introduced it to me slowly. 250mg for a week then 500mg so and so forth until I reached 1500mg.

  • i really think i have pcos nd have been tested since i was younger but the drs. have told me i dont have it! but i have every single sympton! && yes i agree with the side effects i took metphormin for my diabetes d i had constant diarrhea and always felt sick nd weak i lost 60 lbs. taking tht medication!

  • This is a good video. I'm still on the metformin, but they switched the secondary drug I was taking and for some reason the horrible diarrhea I've been suffering from cleared up. (I still take the met 1500mg a day) I hope you find success with your PCOS treatment. :-)

  • When you were taking the metformin how much weight did u lose in the 6 months? THX

  • Great info, but please next time go slower. You talk waaaay toooo fast!!! Thanks :)

  • Oh I agree, I've been metformin for a while and I am having a lot of these side effects.

  • WOW you just spoke to me, to my heart and soul. Someone knew for me also. I will start taking Metformin tomorrow.... see how that goes

we just have to have faith that all things happen for a reason.

    Thank you

  • That's why I stopped taking Metformin RIGHT there (diarrhea). Ugggh.

  • I understand and feel what you're saying but got dang you talk realllyyyy fast lmao!!!

  • I haven't even looked at the video yet and i took metformin off and on for 3 yrs lingest time taking it was 6 months and the diarhea NEVER went away i HAD to stop taking it i couldn't work it was si severe

  • oh this is so crazy i dont feel these side effects, only when i take my two pills together, then i get extremely sick but when i take them really apart it is fine for me. but whaen i got diagnosed my docter told me absolutely nothing about my pcos. i had to research it my self. but im kind of worried now because i dont feel anything from the metformin. i hate this

  • I have PCOS & take Metformin. Were you taking the Extended Release tablets? They are supposedly easier to tolerate. Always take with plenty of water and food. Also- do not take your multi vitamin at the same time that u take the metformin dose (makes me sick). Take the multi with a different meal, it helps prevent diareah (due to the Iron.) I can now tolerate Metformin, though it was tough at first. D Chiral Balance is really good. Many studies. Thanks for all the videos- you are an inspiration!

  • I had these side effects for about 4 to 6 months, but to be honest I smoke herb to help with the nausea and all. The direhha was the worst part like you said... I never had as big an emergency as you did, running the stop light lol. I stuck through the side effects and they eventually went away and now I have periods normally. I've had periods normal for 9 months now yay! Thanks to the Metformin, due to it helping my body be more sensitive to insulin. I may even be ovulating now :).

  • Just came across your vid. One thing that might help you is to reduce your exposure to xenoestrogens, which means changing your cosmetics and personal hygiene products to more natural brands without parabens, sulfates, and harmful chemicals. Also reducing your phytoestrogens from foods like soy. Will be praying for you!!!!

  • I refuse to take any more metformin, I've gone the supplement route, yeah i'm swallowing 11 pills a day but that's waaaaaay better then the stomach problems I had while on metformin, without the help of metformin I somehow manage to lower my insulin, I've seen 3 doctors and my current Doc agrees with my stance. currently taking Biotin, msm, B complex, evening primrose oil, D3, and GNC women's ultra mega active.

  • Girrrll you talk FAAASSSSTTT!!!

  • I just found you. I recently just got diagnosed with pcos and on metformin. I had those symptoms at first but they are starting to subside. However it has not helped me to ovulate at least not yet, so we will see.

  • I have been on and off metformin since i was 17. I was so sick for many years off this med and i quit taking it. Well just recently my husband and i started seeing a new doctor and he said if we would like children metformin is needed. This time so far i have not had any of the side effects and in the beginning i started with taking it with imodium and it helped a lot and then i just made sure when i took my medecine that i ate no sure or white flour. it makes all the difference in the world.

  • A few things. First, you state in your video that Type 2 Diabetes is when your body produces too much insulin, this is not accurate. Type 2 diabetes can be a variety of things, the most common situation though is Syndrome X - simply too much mass. Your body produces a normal amount of insulin for an abnormal body mass, mimicking insulin resistance.

On the diarrhea, yes it is awful. However, most doctors fix it by cutting your dose back and letting your body adjust. If they are good...

  • metformin has been amazing for me minus the side effects. I have lost nearly 20lbs and have alot more energy and now have just ovulated on my own with just metformin. I plan on staying on it till i get pregnant which I hope is soon because this medication is hard on the stomach...

  • HI DNT GIVE UP I TOOK METFORMIN AND FELT THESAME WAY U DID BUT THAN THE DOCTOR PUT ME ON THE BRAND NAME GLUMETZA ITS WAYYYYYYYYY EASIER ON UR TUMMY TRY IT AND NO DIAHERA BUT ITS MORE EXPENSIVE ITS WORTH IT

  • I was told about the side effects but havent had any =]

  • God Bless You! I wish you the best in your journey and I know that God had a blessing in store for you. I used to extern at the Diamond Institute in NJ and I saw the many times God has blessed!!!

  • Thanks for your post. I am in the research stage now about Metformin. My Gynecologist is recommending it, but I heard about the stomach problems. I hate diarrhea! I did some research and found that Buckwheat and Carob have a vitamin that help improve PCOS symptoms. Do a google search to find some articles on it. I just started adding it to my diet and I feel better already. I also plan to exercise 30 min/day to increase blood circulation and reduce stomach fat.

  • I TOO HAVE PCOS! WAS ON METFORMIN FOR ALMOST A LIL OVER A YEAR SAME ISSUE.. OFF ALL MEDS! AND STILL NO TREATMENTS OR CHILDREN..

I KNOW ALL TOO WELL WHAT YOU ARE BATTLING.. IM STUCK JUST LIKE YOU ARE. MESSAGE ME ANYTIME IM RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE. IT SUX!! BUT ANYONE BATTLING THIS ISSUE OF PCOS LEAVE ME A MESSAGE ANYTIME..

  • Just recently subscribe to your channel and I too have PCOS, I found this video to be very informative cause I never paid much attention to the side effects on Metformin I been on it for a year and a half now. I have all those side effects but the one that stands out for me is the diarrhea I hate it but I also had my gallbladder removed 4 yrs ago due to gallstones. But I kept the Metformin to regulate my cycle I lost so much weight betw not having a gallbladder & being on Metformin.

  • if you each a low carb diet you should have limited or no side effects. This drug is definately worth it but you also NEED to do a lifestyle change. Also take a vitamin B12 daily. Lactic Acidosis is extremely RARE!

  • I enjoyed your video and your persective on trying to get pregnant. Im trying as well. Just a bit of info-most doctors would try clomid and metformin together along with another fertility drug. Im just wondering why they had you do it one at a time???

  • My sister was miserable while she was on it However, 6 months after being on it, she got pregnant she is now 4 months pregnant and is so excited, but it's not for everyone. I wish you well on your journey!

  • It works wonders for me everytime I am on it!

  • I try to control my PCOS by exercising and eatting right. I have often feel of the wagon but quickly find my motivation back. I also do laser surgery on my face and have spend over $3,000 or more from it, but I was not going like I was suppose to, but for the last eight months I have been going every month and it has improved and reduced the hair growth tramindously.

Stay blessed and strong I all to well understand what you are going through.

  • I enjoyed your video. I believe the same thing that God will bless me with my child when he is ready. I too have PCOS, the excessive facial hair, infertility, insulin resistance. Ive had procedure and procedure done. Ive been on almost ever Clomid and the HcG shots, and still had 6 miscarriages. What dont kill you make you stronger, and God is good! Ive been on Metformin, BC pills, Spirinolactone, etc, etc, etc.. Ive decided to not take anyother pills.

  • I tried Metformin for PCOS and had every side effect so my Endo prescribed me Glumetza. It's the extended release, coated version of metformin. It's been great. Mild headaches now and then when I eat a lot of carbs but for the most part, I can't complain. I'm not sure if you've looked into other forms but Glumetza has been ticket. My cycles have returned to normal on just 1,000mg with good ovulation. Not pregnant yet but it's only been a couple months. Good luck!

  • Thank you so much for sharing your experience w/this drug. We definitely need to do more research when it comes to what we put in our bodies.

  • Hey girl, i love ur channel. Thank-you for sharing your story my friend has pcos and i kno its a hard n stressful situation to deal with, hope everthing works out for u. Its so true to get a second opinions and dont always go by what they say.

  • Also, I just wanted to comment on what you said about timing and it not being the right time in the past. I spent a long time trying NOT to get pregnant and living my fun life. Because I look and feel much younger than I am, I didn't realize how quickly time was getting away from me and now I fear that I missed my opportunity. I've tried to have faith that I am meant to be a mother, but I also feel I have to accept the possibility that maybe I'm not. Do as much as you can now. Don't wait.

  • I do not have PCOS, but I do have fertility issues due to age. I tried Clomid for 3 months, and didn't have luck. I also didn't have too terrible side effects, but there were some. I am now on Femara (Letrozole) and while it's actually prescribed for breast cancer, they have proven that it helps with pregnancy as well. I don't have really any side effects from this either and it leaves your system very quickly. I don't know if it's an option for you. Good luck hon.

  • I have PCOS and from my experience, metaformin was never needed because a high hormone birth control was enough. Go to an endocrinologist. Try Necon 777 or Osgestrel(sp?)

  • Hey!!! The name of the kidney issue is Ketosis. I forget all of the details of it, but it is advised to drink a lot of water because it can lead to kidney stones. Loved the video.

  • I had the same effect with the metformin my endo recommended fortamet which worked really well but it is more expensive. I agree we have to do our own research!

  • I will be praying for you Boo!!! I have PCOS also.

  • Even though PCOS isn't an issue for me, I appreciate that you are trying to inform your viewers on it. Knowledge is power. I'm currently pregnant but I've had my medical problems as well. Thankfully I am blessed to be pregnant again (hopefully this results in a happy & healthy baby). I pray that God continues to give u strength and hope & in time He will give you what you truly want!! I can attest to that! You're a beautiful person and an inspiration. God Bless!

  • Hi Precious, I was happy when I came across this. I have PCOS 2 but what I found out is that a lot of people don't know about it. Keep the faith dear, God is able. I now have a gorgeous little girl after years of infertility. I am not sure if u r married but pray for your partner 2 cos if u 2 r singing from d same hymn sheet it helps a lot. Clomid worked 4 me but I know Metformin can be nasty. i will remember u in my prayers and pray for me and my family 2.

  • I wish u luck with everything Preciousss I will say this kids are a blessing but if I knew what I know now by being a parent of a 6 year old I would have waited I was 29 and still say I wasn't fully ready for this it's a big job I don't know how my mother had 8 of us and all girls , but motherhood is fun and also scary so just be fully ready when you decide to get pregnant cause wants the baby come it's all about them from now on wish u luck girl :-)

  • I started on Met as well (for PCOS) and experince the same side effects you mention in your video. I became pregnant soon after (0ne month). I felt that since I was pregnant I no longer needed to take the Met so I discontinued without the guidance of my OB/YN and lost my baby about a week affter i stopped. My reasons for discontinuing were because of the side effects,,,, now i wish I would have just beared it. Good luck in your journey!

  • Excellent video. Love your spirit. Thank you for the information. Even though this isn't an issue I face, I think it's important to give information. Regardless if someone has these symptoms or not, information is the key. Personally I'm into holistic health care and try and stay away from pharmaceutical drugs especially since I know they have NO IDEA how the body works or how these drugs will effect us in the long run. But I do understand sometimes it's unavoidable and drugs are necessary

  • I went off metformin for the exact same reasons! I want relief from my pcos symptoms sooo bad but it is not worth it if I have to spend my life in the bathroom with diarrhea.

  • Good lord you hit the nail on the head with " too many doctors and A doesn't know what C is doing" !

  • Hi, Preciousss, I will be praying for you. I have also been going through a lot. My son has high functioning autism. This basically means that he does not have all the systems of autism. He was premature and has faced problems since birth.I look at makeup tutorials as an outlet for me and pray. We should all uplift one another and continue to pray for each other. My four year old requires a lot of patience and time. However, this is the son that God has blessed me. God bless you!

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • I'm on Metformin and what u can do is cut it in half

  • This is such a great video!! I knew I had PCOS for the longest and didn't worry about not having a monthly cycle. But then I found out I had diabetes...guess what, Metformin was the meds I started on, that was October 06. Took sick in mid Feb, thought it was meds!! I was pregnant!! 4 and 1/2 months. Dr told me soon as I started to take meds, my body jumped back into gear. Now my Tristan is here!!! Do i still take meds, I should but dont hate that sick feeling...

  • @mekax3 I guess with the metformin its a personal choice on if you can take the side effects I tried for around 6months no baby and the sickness didn't stop, I wish I was a lucky as you!!!:0)

  • Thanks for the info, my daughter is 18yo and was just diagnosed with PCOS. As a parent I always knew it was something wrong with her but never gave up until I found a specialist and it is very painful seeing my child go thru pain n hurt feeling like a outkast w her friends not feeling normal. But the birth control pill has been working thus far to regulate her cycles but I saw the commercial for Metformin

  • I have a thyroid & PCOS. I am taking Metaformin & Methomazole & I Have NONE of these sides effects.!! Maybe its because im so young I am 18 years old not trying to have a baby right now lol so my mind is not on the fertility situation but ppl who do have those side effects that you are talking about may be older. AGE could be another factor in the situation & just because its numbers doesnt mean its true

  • @MarcyT0the0princess I don't know if age has something to do with it but i wouldn't be suprised but I am happy it works for you

  • Thank you for sharing. I have forwarded the video to those that I know that have challenges with PCO. I know from their stories how serious it is and how the medications can be trying.

  • Thanks for the video. I too have PCO. I have been put onto Metformin. & been on it for 3/4 years now. Solely for the diabetes, as I am ovulating as normal. But I have all the other side effects- such as diabetes, & acne. But I always forget 2 take the damn thing! sometimes days & then when I start taking it again that's when the damn side effects start. But they only last 3 or 4 days, once I keep taking it regular again. In general I feel better not taking it. Hence forgetfulness.

  • I have PCOS too and I take both metformin and spironolactone. I've noticed that I get the runs really bad if I take my metformin on an empty stomach. I've been on spironolactone for 3 months and have noticed a significant decrease in the amount of unwanted hair and in the thickness or coarseness of the hair. Have you and your MDs discussed that med? What exactly is an IUI? Is that similar to an IUD?

Thanks for your positive words and good luck to you.

  • meet and greet sounds nice. :))

  • @misteemy I will try to plan something if a lot of people or a few want to meet

  • Is this video on speed forward....? LOL - Either way, great vid hun :D

  • @MissNellGwynne yes it had to be less than 10min to post

  • Wow, great video. i will keep you and anyone else going through this in my prayers. :)

  • @TopModelDiva85 thanks you so so much

  • WHAT ABOUT SPIROLACTONE FOR PCOS IVE HEARD A LOT OF PPL SAYING GOOD THINGS ABOUT THAT MED FOR PCOS

  • @MadameBeautiful spirlactone is ok but you can't use that one if you are trying to get pregnant

  • Amazing vid!

  • What PCOS?

  • @Neoshee
