  • Ah....back when shows had around 25 minutes of show and 4 minutes of commercials. Other products promoted in this episode include Sanka Coffee, Post-Toastes cereal, Gaines-Burgers, and a promo for the Jack Benny Show (plus a fitness PSA!).

  • Very happy to know that Andy Griffith never did cigarette commercials or beer commercials.

  • Used to watch this late in the mornings when I couldn't get to bed at all. Good times back then...

  • ohh yeah delicious nut sweet greatness!

  • comment removed by Officer Bernard Fiffe.

  • which one's the mother and which one's the daughter?

  • Would it have killed them to include this on the DVD,s?

  • ccc dedeler ccc

  • @Fidencano Andy Griffith Ron Howard'ın çocukların dedesi düşünülebilir. Ama gerçek hayatta, kendi geç oğlu yoktu.

  • I'd like a piece of that butterscotch pecan pie that Aunt Bee made for Opie when he got all A's on his report card.

  • Nice with the promo's!

  • The version I remember had Sanka coffee coming out of the water.

  • still love this show

  • This is the world conservatives still think we live in.

    The 1950s.

  • @gullf1sk No. This is not the 1950's. Mayberry exists in a place where time and space do not correspond to our universe. It is a utopia full of characters who never existed, of dreams and ideals that have never actually taken root, and of love of fellow man and woman, period, even Ernest T. Bass, because they are all neighbors in the world of Mayberry.

  • @gullf1sk What a silly, ignorant thing to say.

  • @gullf1sk No, they just want to go back to the 50s ( Worce)

  • @gullf1sk No, not really. Most of them are fully aware of what the world is like and how it works. It's the socialists who think you can achieve this kind of world by talking and being complacent.

  • @gullf1sk Andy Griffith was a Democrat on the show & in real life.

  • Well, perhaps Grape-Nuts Flakes are more appealing to you, 'testodude'. I like the "original" Grape-Nuts because of the flavor and the texture {sure, your jaw gets somewhat of a workout from eating them, but it's ultimately satisfying}. Whenever they're on sale, I buy a box.

  • i never watch the color shows. the only color episode i am willing to watch is Aunt Bea learns to drive and only because it has Goober and i love Goober. otherwise the color episodes all suck they loose the charm opie is too old and barney goes away

  • Mother and daughter are hot.

  • You'll also notice that in the early episodes, of the opening, there were no weeds(brush) leaning on the tree stump.

  • OMG! I wish I can go back in time to the 50's and early 60's!!!!

  • The original opening can be seen on the first episode, The New Housekeeper. Opie was a lot younger. I have noticed 5 different openings that were shot. One obviously was redone in 66 for the color episodes. You can tell the difference between them by looking at Ronnie's age, and Andy's habit of head nodding as they walk. (He picked this up from his own father)

  • That is fascinating. I wonder where these four other openings can be seen?

  • What episode is this from?

  • This is the 1963-'64 opening title, when General Foods' "Post" cereals were heavily advertised on the show {i.e. the famous "integrated commercial" usually seen at the end of the show that season, where Barney gets Andy to exercise before enjoying his bowl of Grape-Nuts, while eating it himself ["Delicious!"]}. General Foods sponsored the entire run of the series...

  • @fromthesidelines That makes me a little angry. Grape-Nuts are most certainly NOT delicious. Shame on you, Barney and Andy.
