From a few years back, maybe the late 1980's someone who could have been interesting in this sport was Terry Szopinski who wrestled as The Warlord. He looked like a mix of power lifter/body builder and may have needed other specific training but I believe he would have moved to the upper ranks he had attempted it in fact 1 of strongest men ever in pro wrestling Jim Williams a bench press specialist long ago was good at A.W. but lost to who was it---Roy Ridgely (sp?) who was beyond great.

let's not make excuses for Brzenk...he lost because he lost..obviously Girdner was probably just as tired as Brzenk, considereing they were all facing the same people

that is not the case. Everyone is paired randomly at first, and those wins and loses by whoever dictates who they go up against next. Brzenk could have been paired w/ semerenko or other good pullers, while girdner might have pulled someone like ivakin, if open class OR NOT. You should shove your comments elsewhere nizmo!

well, if we go by what you said, then it's a tossup, for all we know Girdner faced tougher opponents...don't take recognition away from Girdner, he didn't win because he got lucky he won because he dedicated enough time and training to do so...I don't know if you know, but Brzenk is a great sportsman and has upmost dignity, when it comes to him losing, he doesn't make excuses for himself, so neither should you...

Maybe you are right-girdner could have won for those reasons, but who does know for sure how the match would have turned out if they both were paired first. Girdner might just have won still, absolutely. I don't doubt this or disagree with you.
