When dealing with an alcoholic in the family is to sit down and find where the breaking point is.
For my mum, it got to the point she was passed out by 2 every day and I couldn't get to school because she was too drunk to drive. Or she'd drive drunk. My dad didn't say much when we had an intervention. Neither did my brother. She skipped AA all the time. I was taking care of her at this point, at 18, most of the time. I told her I didn't want her around anymore if she didn't go to treatment.
She usually gets drunk every friday, saturday, sunday, and alot during holidays, but not mostly otherwise. few times she came home with piss all over her, and one time the police found her wondering drunk from the city at night, but she still has a job, and she mostly drinks only during weekends, and holidays. so is she really a drunk?
@SuomiFinlandPerkel3 I think she indulges in binge drinking. A few days a week she will drink a lot but she can stop herself from drinking when the time is inappropriate? like a weekday when she has to work. In my opinion shes not an alcoholic. but good luck :')
This is called 'binge' alcoholism. My grandfather did it his entire life. It's a sort of controlled alcoholism. Want to really test if its there? If you can manage to get them without liquor for an entire weekend, their hands will shake.
Still didn't mean he wasn't horrifically abusive when he was drunk.
@SnazzyArcade even worse. my mum is like that. if she doesnt drink for a few days she will shake. then after about 6 days she will have a seizure. she always falls and hits her head and requires an ambulance. they wont give her any rehabilitation drugs to stop the seizures because she didnt recover last time. it sucks.
"Social drinkers" may have a glass of wine every day, with dinner, or at a cocktail party they'll have a drink or two.
Dealing with alcoholism in an office setting is tricky. Most employers are too embarrassed to approach their employees because they have dealt with alcoholism in some form, or are afraid that if they say anything it could get worse, or are alcoholics themselves.
It will progress. And you can't do anything about it.
my mom's an alchoholic and i dont want to call CPS because i dont want to end up in a place that is crappier then this. my father is usually working to support me and my mom. usually from 8 AM to 11 PM
my mother is a heavy alcoholic and because of this she has affected me pshycologically and this hurts because as we all know the parents are the most important people in our lives. my mother has tried to commit suicide on 2 occasions on a friday and on a wednesday. she has commited drink driving and chased me round the table with a knife when i was 5. i often wonder what im supposed to do now, my dad is the only one i have and he spends his time on the computer and i have nobody to talk to.
Thanks very much for your comment, I loved your video that you did with the little boy and the music I wanted to use it for a workshop, but could not find it, do you still have it? Best Wishes,Emma

@LizzieNinjaPanda They don't give addicts medication most of the time because their liver is already messed.
My mum had seizures too, they perscribed gabapentin and lots of AA.
