I hate when people attack the MLS as if it has been around for over 100 years like Europe has. Its been just over 11 years. Imagine a European team that is only 11 years old, then ask if that team could beat an MLS team.
@MrVollzaach OK, name them. Not because I don't believe you, but because I'm quite interested in the teams your name. A 10 year old team in a 100 year old league is not the same as a 3 year old team in a 15 year old league, no matter where it is.
@jballstar07 We get the same problem here is Australia with our A-league, people try to compare it to leagues that are 100 years old but it's only just about to start its 6th season! Give us 100 years and we'll have fans and players just like Panathinaikos' Gate 13 and Boca Juna's La 12! And it's the same with the MLS.
@Pranksterboy333 Yes, that’s very true. It’s nice to hear a realistic viewpoint for a change. Both MLS and A League share a similar position. Time will tell how it works out.
I cant speak for the MLS but the biggest crime of the A League has been that it has ignored youth. Thankfully, last year it suddenly changed (for the good) with youngsters like Leckie and Oar getting a run (and doing well) but the 18-23 year olds that were ignored were left with nothing.
@Pranksterboy333 I was trying to say. I wonder what Australian football would be like if we gathered up all those 18-23 year olds that were never given a chance to play? In Australia we like to call our 2006 World Cup team the Golden Generation, but I would like to give a name to all those young players over the past 5 A League seasons (that were denied their chance) the Stolen Generation.
I love watching European football and also MLS. Of course the MLS is no where near the Barclays Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, or any other top European division.
Most European top leagues were started late 1800's early 1900's....MLS started 1996.
That right there gives MLS a huge disadvantage already, it takes a long time to build history like every European League has, takes time to gain fans...so with that said American football is good, but European football is great.
Obviously I do. I was in Toronto when my beloved G's played Toronto and plan on going next year.I've been to Europe 10 times and Asia 5. MLS is awesome. You aren't
