The best ROM! (Darky's v9.5 --- Samsung GT-i9000) ... If any of you are new, the easiest would be to root your phone then get the compatible Darky via ROM Manager (an app found in Android Market, get the paid version to enable download ROM feature). I'm saying this because it took me ages to root mine and eventually install this awesome ROM. Thank you!

it worked for me and now i have the rom :)

@WlLLMS It might be you don't have lagfix enabled. Reboot into clockworkmod and check.

Do not try this installation on windows 7 as i was doing it and after connecting the phone to odin3 i pressed start and the process was'nt going anywhere and in odin it was displaying com port cannot open. Then i restarted my phone by taking the battery out and then i went in download mode and this time i did it on windows xp with the same steps.. it worked sweet.. (SGS I9000)

I just rooted my mums SGS, then followed your steps!

I had previously installed: Z4root + Voodoo lagfix via the 1clickinstall, although they both seemed to have disappeared.

Anyway, great video, only request, talk louder, I could barely hear you through my laptop / or earphones.

well after doing all that it starts up in recovery mode and hangs on 'installing muti-csc..' and i just read up a little bit. someone said not to use repartition or pit unless i have the modem, pda, and csc files. what can i do though? the phone keeps turning on to come to this screen and won't stay off :( how can i finish this? btw it's a galaxy s baseband version t959vuvkb5. that's all the info i got off it before i did this x.x heeeelp

eh one of the flashes 'failed'. stupid buggy odin. so like an idiot i unplugged it because it failed and froze. this messed up the bootloader, so i had to resort to sending it back X.x there's no way to flash a bootloader without getting into recovery mode eh?

Only thing different on my flash was when i went into recovery the lagfix was disabled and opening market was a real frightening half hour, phone kept showing white loading screen -felt like forever But the phone seems all good- the gps is now amazing and darky and the team did a marvellous job with FW.

@beeknight9 Quadrant scores are misleading and hardly reflect the performance of the actual phone. I used to get Quadrant scores of 2200+ using Ryan's OCLF (rooted Android 2.1). But performance of day to day use is much better now I'm using Darky's along with Voodoo Lag Fix (Android 2.2).

@rrjnr Didn't tick Boot Loader...

Seems to be working now though, here's what I did:

removed battery for a while, reinserted it whilst vol down, power and home buttons were pressed... (this didn't work wiithout the SIM or microSD inserted)

then got into download mode, went back into ODIN and tried again without ticking "re-partition" it seems to have worked, in the process of finishing it off now,

Scared the crap out of me, thought I had an expensive brick... Pheww

well i got the filesfor the captivate. In the filea it came w ODIN 1.32 and i used it. did not connect my phone. then i try the ODIN 1.52. that version is newer? Well i no result either. let me ask you if i mount as mass storage and then use Odin which it will connect the phone. what will be the results if i install the rar file and the tar? do u understand? if not then i guess i will keep using the foyo 2.2.
