  • Congratulations. I can't say anymore on the topic because I was spellbound once again by the narration, editing and camera shots. No small task. You make it look easy. You're a pro and I love ya for it!

  • Wow, that place looks beautiful.

  • Spread your wings and fly ! Now that was inspirational. I think you've made a wonderful choice.

I'm from So Cal too and left for good at age 27. Look forward to seeing more video of Santa Cruz! Show us the beaches and surf please!

  • Curt I'm glad yer taking this huge step! Good luck and hope to see more of yer vids!

  • I'm glad you have made the leap Curt.

All the best in the move.

  • All the best to you, Curt, in this next chapter.

  • It's interesting how a seemingly innocuous action like painting a room a different colour can spark a revelation like that. I hope you'll be very happy there :).

  • ...you've got to re-ar-range!

Go man go! Something good will come of it. Even if that something ends up coming from a very different direction whence you expected it to come. Your bold action is the catalyst.

  • i envy your trip and your destination! things are going to be great, new and fresh and most importantly GREEN! That river needed you! :D

  • Oh wow! Good for you. Always follow your heart. And hooray for nature! It's lovely there. Best wishes for your and the kitties future.

  • WOW... Same state but what a difference. I think I saw Sasquatch!

  • I've been living amongst the green most of my life. It's nice. You made a good choice no doubt

  • Wishing you the best Curt

  • I swear Jason writes that music just for you!!! :D

  • Say hey! I hope you find what you're looking for there in Santa Cruz. The setting at the end is gorgeous. It's got to be a little cheaper just to exist there, isn't it? Best wishes, Curt!

    -dan'l

  • Didja at least move far enough north to experience the seasonal change in leaves? I tell you, fall is the absolute best reason to live in the Midwest. I cannot tell you the joy I get from seeing the absolute rainbow of colors in the trees when the leaves turn.

Oh, and you're gonna hafta get yersef a full suspension mountain bike, too.

  • I am with Daryl that your new surroundings are better than your former. Good luck:)

  • I like it nice and bright. Is there a beach? how can you blog from the beach , ok so its a blog from the river side. Hope it works for you Curt.

  • I want to see how different the ocean is there. You are a brave man, Curt, for doing this. It will be a new beginning on a journey.

  • Good for you and I follow the same rules, try it or it is usless thinking it. Awesome video Curt, I always look for yours:)

  • I wish you much success and happiness in your new location. I hope you find that job you are looking for.

    Lauren:)

  • Curt I'm proud of you for taking the risk and moving north! You seem content with your decision and a change of scenery is often a good thing. Sending good thoughts your way and hoping to hear about you landing an awesome job. -Jim

  • I'm definitely in the same boat as you right now as far as potentially seeking a new location is involved, and change isn't always a bad thing. I wish you all the best, and regardless of where it is you may go, may happiness follow.

  • I always thought you were more of a Northern California guy than an LA guy. I have visited all around the Bay area a few times and I think it is the most beautiful part of the country I've seen so far. I hope you find happiness for however long you stay there. I think I hear it already in your voice.

  • you'll have to go to a few of the local beaches to see which one suits you. WE are hot all summer up here!

  • amazing stuff curt! ur always an inspiration. i hope you are happy! good luck with the move

  • Yay! Good for you! I love No. California. I left LA for Albuquerque, NM. Best of luck with the job hunt. Take care.

    Gigi

  • Looks like you've made a great leap from a shade of green to green in the shade. Congrats on your move. You're a great guy Curt, good things will come your way. I'm sure you miss the kittens but I'm positive they miss you more... so on their behalf, 'Hurry up daddy, we miss you!'

  • good luck!

  • Best wishes as you move on to greener pastures.

  • Congrats on your move !

thinking of you & wishing you all the best !

    **Kisses**

  • It's interesting that I'm watching this from my campsite in the woods... Yeah! There are many shades of green :)

  • Not only have you stepped away from the familar, but, in your constantly improving art of video making, you stepped past a point. You have definitely taken vlogging to another level with this video.

From here on in, the only thing holding you back is the font from the Mary Tyler Moore. :P

  • Northern California is gorgeous. I loved the redwoods and large green spaces. I wish I had the moxie to up an move on a leap of faith.

  • Fantastic stuff my friend.

You've replaced your beach with a creek... I love it.

    Cheers... J.

  • How cool Curt. Good for you. I can't wait to see how this journey turns out for you. Bummer on the kitties being left behind for now but I know you will get them when you can.

  • Curt, I've always thought the Santa Cruz area was more fitting to you than LA .. how weird. I go to Santa Cruz/Aptos/Watsonville every 3 months (My Mom lives there).. It's like a breath of fresh air to go there and be surrounded by the kind people you pass each day. I love the atmosphere there.. just makes coming home that much harder though lol

Hope this is life changing for the better for you. Beautiful video

  • That really is beautiful. There are regrets in life whenever you think of "what if?" but no matter what could be sometimes you just have to go out and take the risk in order to live life to the fullest. Besides, what would life be if you didn't take the risk to go out and explore the world outside of the life you've always known? Best of luck in your new found life!

  • Beautiful video! I don't think I've ever been to that river area. I told Ken I want to go.

  • Good for you my friend! Best wishes.

  • It is so lovely around San Fran, best of luck on the moving, job finding and subsequent settling and collecting!

  • You have found a jewel of a place to live, Curt. Do me a favor when you get the chance and ride the Giant Dipper at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk for me? Best Wishes! :O)

  • Ok for the first time I will actually say "Oh Curt" you brought tears to my eyes!!! I am so happy you made this desition, you won't regret it, I've been in NorCal for 2 years now after living in a crazy and noisy city that I used to call home, now I have a new home :)

Can't wait for you to visit us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I didn't see that coming. Good luck with your move :)

  • Good for you, Curt. My best friend moved there 3 years ago and loves it.

  • Hi Curt, You are living my dream right now. I want to move north some day. I crave the green trees and cooler weather. Good luck on your job search. I hope you are able to send for your cats real soon.

  • I'm with you Curt, the feeling of regret out ways any fears of change! I hope this recent endeavor opens many doors for you. And if ever during this journey you feel discouraged...DON'T! I know you have the will and determination to make this change...SUCCESSFUL! :)

  • Thanks for reminding me why I'm here. Now don't be no stranger, y'hear?

  • Such a beautifully soulful video. I hope you settle very soon!

    Piers x

  • nor cal is awesome. the further you go north the more beautiful it is. just a warning though once you leave cali it is difficult to return.

  • Nice - the room looks sunnier. Northern California sounds like a great adventure! I'm looking forward to all the videos you'll post with your experiences there. It should be fun and interesting!

  • Finally, a new video. :)

    wishin u good luck C:

Everytime nice to hear ur voice. <3

  • You really do make great videos! As you may know, I am a believer in going for things that are sometimes scary, from love to moves to work...we only live once and as you implied, regret is a waste.

You'll be just fine and in case things get bad just remember: At least it's not boring!

  • WOW! What a huge change Curt. I do think you'll be happy. I went to college in SF, and lived in the Castro. What a lovely time in my life. Santa Cruz eh? Such a beautiful place to live. I can't wait to watch more of your journey! You'll be in my thoughts.. xoxox

  • WOW! I'm so proud of you! Courage is something that I lack sometimes. I can't wait to see the videos to come from your new home.

This was really an excellent video. Really really excellent!

  • super great vid... very brave!!!!!! I wish you well and hope all your dreams come true

  • So cool! Best of luck Curt. Beautiful area to be in.

  • Wow! Congrats on the move and the big change! I admit I'll miss seeing thoughtful vlogs from one of my own favorite thinking spots in Long Beach, but I can't wait to see what NorCal brings you (and what you bring NorCal! ;D).

  • I almost cried when I heard you had to leave your kitties behind. That has to be really tough. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll be able to be reunited with them soon!!!! The area you live in now is gorgeous!!! I'd never do well in L.A....not enough natural surroundings. Looks like you have plenty of green now!!!! Love the video! ((((((CURT)))))) Happy New Home!

  • Listening to all that running water makes me want to pee now!

    Phew, that's better.

I think we're all green...with envy Curt. Having visited that area, i know it's a nice place to be.

Sometimes we all have to make those hard decisions & well done to you for having done so. It's always easy to sit tight & live with the status quo. But, moving on takes courage :)

  • I know what you are going through, I am a native Floridian and moved out of state and it was scarey.

  • Great video, Curt! I hope that everything falls into place for you. I have often pondered moving away from this town. I moved here with a job 25 years ago, and I'm still here! It's not terrible, but it's not great either. I wonder if I would be happier elsewhere, (prefertably by the coast), but I have to face the fact that wherever I go, I have to take me with me. And there lies the problem.

I hope you find whatever it is that makes you happy! :-) x

  • I think it's the best decision you ever mad and you look so happy!

  • Long time no see. I wish you all the best and I know you'll get what you're looking for.

  • Your becoming Jedi

  • I´m glad you did this. And I´m glad you made a video about it! :)

    You´re cats will love it!

  • Good Luck and always Think Green =)

    Great Video

  • That took me by surprise - good luck with the new life and hope you and your cats are reunited soon

  • So glad you moved! You were always posting videos of you talking on the beach, clearly you love the tranquility of nature. It's not natural to reside your whole life in the busy chaos of a huge city. Moving north you probably 'feel like you're going home' even though it's not really your home yet. It's what a lot of people need, I'm so happy for you that you got it. But your cats!!!!!!!! Don't you miss them?! I wish you all the best, you are such a nice person.

  • Wow.. fabulous video. best of luck sir. x

  • All the best on your new adventure, and experience the whole spectrum of colors of life up north. xo

  • good for you going for it Curt, this one will be the right move for you, I'm sure of it.

I left the rat race 7 years ago and for a while I still called California 'home' and indeed was homesick for aspects of it. Now I simply miss certain aspects of the USA that aren't available where I live, but not with my heart, just with my head.

Wishing you much happiness and good luck in your job search. I'm green with envy - love that area! :)

  • Looks beautiful!! I wish you the best in your move!! And, as someone who grew up in Long Beach, not too far from LA, I can totally understand your yearning to move away from there. Good luck Curt!!

  • the Park looked really beautiful.....best thoughts and wishes on your new endeavor...and thumb's up for the bravery!....change is some scary stuff...

but thankfully more manageable when you have good friends...good luck!

  • out trip to san fran last year made think seriously that I need to become a raiders fan instead on broncos.....go Rockies.....lol I'm with you man.....

  • Lovely! I need to get me some time in the mountains soon.

  • North Cal Is the only place in Cal I would live. Good to see what your up too Curt.

  • It says a lot about the air quality in LA if the air in Northern California is actually cleaner. I mean Nutcheese lives in Northern California for crissakes, LOL.

Best of luck with the move Curt. Hopefully you'll be settled in with a decent job and 3 purring kitties soon enough!

  • Yay! NorCal is awesome! Although I might be a little prejudice about it since I live there. :)

  • risk and sacrifice is what makes life real.

  • my comment disappeared.

i never could see you as an angeleno, this is a terrific move. it's a lot easier in our 20s and takes a lot of guts now. i wish you all the luck in the world.

  • i could never see you as an angeleno, it didn't make sense. uprooting in our 20s was easy, now not so much. i wish you the best of everything.

  • I'm such a fan of this video. You probably hear this all the time, but I love your honesty in your videos. I'm still trying to work on that in my videos. I wish all the luck to you, man.

  • Wow, Curt I had no idea our moves were happening in the same time. I'm moving pretty far out of Boston, into a nice, clean, flower-covered town next week. (I'm nervous!!)

But, watching this has helped me along with some of the more nerve-wracking parts of the move. Thank you very much for this video.

I hope you have a great time in NoCal. (I have always wanted to go there!)

  • Great video. A change of living space can do wonders for the mind, body and soul. I hope you like it there, it looks really peaceful.

I moved a few weeks ago as well... may have to respond with a video of my own...

  • Hope you have an awesome time!!!

    MrHollick

  • Wow. Admire your courage. Good luck to ya!

  • Classic Curt travel video, great scenery, great editing and insightful ideas.

    Best of luck up north.

  • Rock on !

I am proud of you and the example you set.

  • I admire your strength in taking this big leap of faith. Best of luck to you Curt!

  • I'm happy for you that you took the leap. I was going to add some philosophical BS to that comment but screw that. I'm just really pleased that you're beginning a new adventure and can see blue sky again :)

  • Hope the move works out well for you, Curt! I imagine that air quality must be way better than it is in L.A. :)

  • O FUCK YES!

  • Best of luck Curt!!! ....I love your videos...always inspirational...I may not comment all the time..but I always watch.. :)

    xoxo

    Maddy

  • Wow- lots of changes. Best of luck in your job search. Lived in So. Cal near San Diego years ago but didn't get to see the northern part of the state, Santa Cruz Co. looks beautiful.

  • Hey Curt. Are you in Santa Cruz??

  • @ohcurt your change is about the same thing that I am going through... I wish you the best and I hope you and I will find happiness in the upcoming few months.

  • You are an inspiration. :)

  • lovely

  • I hope this works out well for you and your furry friends :) .

  • would I be a big ol baby if I told you that I got a tear in my eye watching this and listening to you talk?? Oh well, so I'm a baby. I'm so happy for you Curt!

    (((( FOR "evergreen" shot ))))

  • Make the move north, Curt! It'd probably extend your life by 5 years or so. lol

  • another really meaningful video from you

it is always better to say hey, i shouldn't have done that or well that was a mistake, rather than not taking the risk at all and living a life of what ifs and maybes

best of luck I hope you finally find a place you can truely call home

  • I do wish you the best of luck in your new direction in life. :)

  • Curt, I am totally with you on this decision. I honestly wish you the best of luck and I'm sending as much positive energy your way as I can muster.

  • You even look younger in Santa Cruz! Wishing you many years of happiness and interesting journeys, Curt. Sending good vibes your way. Cheers ~ PiP

  • Wow Curt, I didnt realise you were relocating. I would take your new surroundings over the former any day. Good luck getting settled.

I call spring in TN our 1,000 shades of green season:-)

  • @1DRock37167 Thanks, Daryl - yep, TN definitely has SoCal beat in that regard.

  • Last summer, I visited my friend in San Jose. I met him when he was going to CSU San Bernardino. This is what I told him on the way from picking me up at the airport:

"Dude...the sky's blue. How do y'all do that? You sure this is California?"

That weekend was pretty epic. It took us from San Jose to San Francisco, through Sacramento, and ultimately to Chico and Oroville. I could see myself in NorCal...just the right amounts of laid-back attitude and conservationism.

    Good luck.

  • @DILLIGAF333 LOL - yeah, I keep going outside and marveling at the color of the sky. In fact, the friends I'm staying with have been teasing me about it.

    :-D

    Thanks, dude!

  • I'm so happy for you and your move. I envy your strength to change your life right now. Also, the Santa Cruz area is a wonderful place to go. I love it up there.

  • @timido66 Thanks, Van.

It's gorgeous up here - if only I had your eye for photography to really make the most of it in that regard!

  • You have no idea how well timed this video and the quote at the beginning is. A lot of potential life altering changes are possibly in the works - and I am agonizing over what to do. While still undecided, this video sure does help!

Congrats on having the courage to take that leap of faith. When/If the time comes - I hope I have the same courage :)

  • @dl737 Wow, Danny! I can't imagine you NOT having the courage to make hard decisions. Seriously.

Whatever it is you need to do, I know you'll do it up right.

  • I'm with our friend Terry and tucking this into my favourites. I wish you all the best in your new home Curt. Love you, Chris

  • @bugsinrug I love you too, Chris. Thank you!

    :-)

  • That DOES look like the "heart of the island!" Very cool.

I've noticed since your move you really do seem more at ease with things. I hope this is a trend that lasts and I wish you nothing but the best. You always know where to find me! :)

  • @anakin1814 Thanks, Gary.

Yeah, that spot at the river inspired tons of "Lost" moments in my head the first time I found it. Since the first visit, it's turning into a bit of a regular haunt for me.

  • Really beautiful Curt. I'm glad you were able to pick up and move. Enjoy.

  • @LJonYT If I'd waited any longer, mold was going to grow on my ass! LOL

    *Thanks*

  • Congratulations on making a change. These are the time when we discover so much about ourselves. I wish you all the best!!

  • @NaturalTwentyFilms I'm like a cat in mid air these days, I guess. lol

    Thanks!!

  • @gogoran63 Ah, cool. I've never seen Seattle up close. I have a buddy up that way and hear it's great though.

Besides, as a "Frasier" fan, it's pretty much required that I see it SOMEDAY.

  • Good luck, Curt! We're thinking about moving as well. I've gotta get away from this neighborhood filled with annoying neighbors!

  • @LuckyStrike502 Depending on what brand of "annoying" they've been sharing with you, perhaps there's cause for doing some donuts on your way out...?

I'm not suggesting this, of course. Just pondering...

    ;-)

  • @OhCurt Now that is a good idea! They're the kind of neighbors who like to sit in their car in their driveway late at night with their stereo turned way up. The bass along with the walls and windows rattling gets annoying!

  • Splendid! I'm adding this one to the faves.

  • @dicom Wow, thanks Terry!

  • Are you SURE you don't do this for a living? Yet another well thought out, well organized video - with a storyline! Your vlogs continue to inspire and challenge me as I learn the vlogging craft! On the subject of this vlog - it seems change is breaking out all over - nearly everyone I know (including myself) is in transition. Wishing you the greatest success!

  • @WorldAccordingtoRich Here's to transition then! I guess with the economy in the state it is, a lot of us figure, "might as well do this now."

And thanks for the compliment. LOL, never say never in regards to doing this professionally. I have one entry on my resume that includes this stuff but that's it so far. In fact, I hear about the kind of stuff you work on and think, "damn, that would be cool!"

  • @OhCurt One of my brand new career quests is to merge my filmmaking skills with the need for people to learn creative social media skills, if that makes sense. I've already used your vlogs as an example to a number of associates - who knows, maybe one day this can really work for us (once I improve my game, of course!)

  • Santa Cruz is nice. I'm in Humboldt county and may actually move south to find work and get out of the rain and fog. Maybe eventually a youtube gathering for people in northern CA would be in order.

  • @TheRealNickBravo I agree, it's time for another meetup!

Humboldt county... not completely familiar with that area at this point but I've seen the fog that Watsonville enjoys a lot of the time. That's tough weather indeed.

  • May your new home give you all the comfort and tranquility you seek, and as far as green goes...the way with which you convey your thoughts makes me green...with envy :)

  • @schmumpkin You're a poet, man! Thanks for that, I appreciate it.

    :-)

  • So glad you had the guts enough to make the jump. Fingers crossed for you in the job hunt.

  • @ebiannah I was practically screaming to get out at the end there, lol.

    Thanks!!

  • Inspiring. I say that in truth! Inspiring.

  • @tommy30507 Thank you, Ronnie.

Hey, it was a treat seeing the photos and video clips of your trip to the Gulf.

    *envious!*

    :-)

  • what are you majoring in going back to school?

  • @ryangolf1212 It's a history degree but I wrapped it up last year. Actually, I'd LOVE to go back and get my Masters... still not sure what my major would be, tho.

  • good luck man =)

  • @achampag Thanks, Lea!

  • :) Love it, and as I've said before..."Welcome home Curt!"

  • @IWalk4tnt Marvelous to be here, Sandi. Thanks!

BTW, this stuff you have up here called fresh air... I think I like it.

  • @OhCurt Amazing concept isn't it? Air that you can't see or smell before you suck it into your lungs!

BTW....maybe you can swing a deal with UC Santa Cruz and become their mascot in exchange for tuition....OhCurt aka: THE SC Banana Slug! It's got quite a ring to it.

  • Aww That was nice! I'm once again happy for you =)

  • @hallbe Thankya, Ben. :-)

  • If you get a thumbs-down on this vid.... it was me - ak! Sorry!!!! I misclicked.

I've tried to give thumbs-up to compensate - but who knows if that will work...

GOOD LUCK to you, my friend. Find peace, find happiness, find contentment, find GREEN!

  • @Elaina43 Ha! No worries, I've done that thumb routine too.

Thanks, Elaina. I'm just sorry we didn't get to head over and see if that clear-the-mind-at-the-ocean thing really works before I left.

    xoxo

  • @OhCurt I will see you again (someday)

and we WILL go to the ocean (someday)

and I will love you (always).
