as a volvo owner, i do no advocate the use of these KN filter. i, too, had one installed, but caused a failure of my ECU due to overheating. if you are an s40 owner, and have installed an kn filter, or any other open cone filter, replace it will your stock unit immediately. you may not know, but the ECU is cooled by the rushing air in the stock air box. the removal of this unit will cause overheating and premature failure of your ECU. failure to comply will cost you $1600 for an ecu + labor

how much HP increase you get with this filter?. K&N have about 3 different models (one identical to the stock filter, the typhon and another model). Do you mod a K&N filter? See my videos I had one S40 with 370HP with crazy mods and sounds

Well my ECU did get very hot this summer but i mounted a powerblanket and the ECU is now cold as ice... Well not ice but it's cold ;)

You say its homemade, how did you make it? I have a 2005 T5 and having a hardtime finding a good intake without spending alot!

Pipe + hoses and a filter.
Pretty easy and non costly if you consider the other choices for premade intakes.

I just bought a volvo and it came with a turbo
but it does nt have that blow out valve sound, you know pssssssss,pssssssss lol
after every gear shift. what can i do? with out getind a check engin light on.

I haven't had it on the dyno yet so I don't know. My guess is 10hp with intake, exhaust and 99 octane.

Neither. It is homemade with a 3" KN universal filter. So guess you could call it a K&N filter but this is not the typhoon!
