Few hunters hunt for survival anymore. The ones I've known spent far more on their outings than the meat they got was worth. Look at Cheney's quail hunting. Next, just because something is a tradition doesn't mean it's a good thing. Female circumcision is one bad tradition that comes to mind. Yes, hunting (in some cases) aids in conservation but we now have the technology to eliminate overbreeding through sterilization. I'm not saying all hunters are evil, just that I don't like them.

@davidls11 Cheney is not a hunter, he does it for sport. I live in an area where jobs are hard to come by; bagging a moose for my family and myself saves us months of meager meals. Whether a tradition is "good" or "bad" is speculative. Who are we to change what another person believes? People always have and always will have different opinions on things. Just because I don't agree with homosexuality doesn't mean I'm against it. If you can't agree with something, at least respect it.

We may not be able to change what some people believe but you have to admit that some traditions are just plain wrong. Hunters try to take out the largest male in the area. this alows for the younger deer to procreate and diversify the genetics of a heard. Hunters and gamewardens also weed out the sick and hurt. hunters and fishermen provide more wildlife funding than anyone. do some research.
