  • A great era and I think the best for EJ. This vid is very badly sync'd though, and it wasn't the best of the day - no wonder he 'hates doing video' (see Tantrums & Tiaras).

  • LOL, I remember when Elton put that pie in KiKi Dee's face, it was in '79 I think; they had just recently recorded "Don't go breaking my heart". Don't know if he was angry (but kinda think so) as they never did duets again. That era ROCKED for me and all my friends. Happy Holidays! DiaperBoy:-)

  • @Letsgojettin He did another duet with Kiki in the '93 album duets. i can't think of the song name right off hand. I don't know why he pied her. Elton's head and nose were "in the snow" so a lot of crazy shit was going on.

  • Gotta love Elton's mullet!!

  • where can i find Soul Glove?

  • g8 song from two music legends

  • its funny that this song is about the girls, cause their both gay!

  • Whos the girl at the end w/the pie? Kiki Dee? Cute. 1985 was a uncanny year for music. Ppl were filling stadiums for A-Ha, Prince copycat acts, Iron Maiden &Power Station. Even the most serious legends like Elton, decided 2go w/the flow &make innocuous, synth pop w/the rest. No biggie. I always thot it wud hav been cool, if George Micheal had replaced Freddie Mercury in Queen, after his illness. Call it blasphemous. But their vocal range &star power were similar. It cud have worked, IMHO.

  • Sir Elton and George hit #20 in Billboard, 12-7-85. Bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

  • Wrap her UP!!

  • I think Elton danced more in this video than any of his other vids.

  • This video sizzles with irony.

  • This song has super sex appeal and I like it!!

  • MrOrionfan - yes, it's Brigitte Bardot ca. 1958 :o)

  • bloody hell is this when elton and george were still playing it straight???

  • he should've added farrah fawcett's clip in this video and said wrap her up. who agrees?

  • Is the woman at 1:55 an actress? She is gorgeous! Does anyone know?

  • @MrOrionfan Brigitte Bardot, I think.

  • @stblase2 lol yeah that mullet is horrid. Maybe a humongous cake to cover most of his head, face and hair would be just the thing. :)

  • @stblase2 Thanks for confirming it's not just me. :) And If there just had to be a pie in the face, I think I'd rather see her pieing Elton John.

  • @ganyuehan HELL NO!!!

  • The band, the backing singers, G. M. & K. D. the video, the production ( Gus RIP) & the lyrics. What else can I say. Very high art. I LOOOVE It. Elton I love you. SL4 Neighbour !!! xx

  • in the Elvis scene what was on the plate? A line?

  • Most definately in my mind was the "wrap HIM up" thought, and how, with his influence/money/prestige he could "get" most anyone in "that way"...it's kinda obvious the high energy level demonstrated in the preformance was of a coca nature. Reminded me of the silly but well done movie "The Toy" with Richard Pryor and Jackie Gleason. If one were to go to "Reggie Van Gleason" (on You Tube) Mr. Gleaso can be seen snorting while doing his favorite character, Reggie Van Gleason III. Enjoy.

  • LOL, it's videos like this that really exemplify why Elton withdrew from making videos.

  • I first heard this song when I was 13. The beat and sound definitely made this a feel good song that I enjoyed listening to.

  • If they did a tune like this now, they would call it "Wrap Him Up". That stated, I wonder who they would mention. One can only wonder.

  • i wonder if deon estus played on this track...Im pretty sure he did...any one know? FYI deon estus was wham = GM's bass player but i know they all worked togerther mid 80s

  • @sprintbass - Wikipedia lists Deon Estus as playing bass on this whole album, except for "Too Young" (John Deacon played on that track). I loved all the stuff Deon did with Wham!

  • 25 years on and I would rather listen to this than any of the shit that is popular now.

    Good pop music is dead.

  • This song is the epitome of the throwaway pop duets that plagued the entire decade of the 1980's.

  • @TheLastBrainLeft technically unture.. he did Nikita with geroge micheals entire band and wrpa her up, both songs were all over the radio at the time i was 13 then..

  • The whole time they were thinking "Wrap Him Up"

  • @JonLeibow

Not necessarily, many gay men worship and celebrate women in a way only they can and hetero men never will, and still be attracted to men :-)

  • lol at 4:00

  • MY GOD SOME ANIMAL LANDED ON ELTON'S HEAD!

  • Elton's biggest problem in the '80s was not that he came out as bi in '83 after getting a divorce from his wife. It was his excessive drug use.

And still he created hits. Not his classics like "Madman Across The Water" et al, but hits just the same.

  • @radioonemike no. He came out as bi in 76 then got married to Renata in '84. he thought all his problems including his drug and alcohol use would get better if he was with a woman but he was ultimately fooling himself knowing full well he prefered guys so they divorced in 88.

  • DID ELTON AND GEORGE BUMP UGLIES?

  • Who was the "Pie" victim? Was it Jon Bon Jovi?

  • @charliethemaddawg kiki dee i think x

  • @charliethemaddawg Kiki Dee, who is best known for doing "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" with Elton.

  • I Love This Elton John And George Michael 1985 Music Video, "Wrap Her Up," Which Became A Top 20 Hit In America.

  • It is somewhat ironic that two gay men are singing "Wrap Her Up". Notthattheresanythingwrongwiththat. Both are very talented. Elton sure didn't look like a pop star back in the 70s. He was chubby, wore thick glasses and had a receding hair line. That is one of the problems with the music business since the MTV Era. Too much is based on looks.

  • those two are just perfect together

  • Don't really get the pie in the face at the end.

  • I love Elton's mullet scenes !

  • Before the closet door swung open for both of them!

  • i find it weird that they called it wrap HER up since later u find out they're both gay

  • I also want to add:

    *Natalie Wood

    *Natasha Gregson Wagner

    *Natalie Cole

  • Elton heeft george leren zingen.............

  • Joan Collins!

  • donde esta george michael la cancion es un exito

  • HIt#20 in Bilboard. How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • I love this video!

  • wonderfull back vocal :)

  • Christ this brings back memories. When MTV was still playing music videos and there was a buzz about what artist was going to collaborate with whom for their next video. It was cool, it was exciting, it was a completely different world.

  • @BirthofCharlie wasnt it just !!!

  • I have every Elton album from 1970 to present. This song and the LP it came from really stink. 1980s dated synth junk. Try Tumbleweed Connection or 11-17-70 instead. Or even Capt and the Kid from 2006 for the good stuff.

  • hit #20 in Billboard. How'd it do in the UK?

  • puuuuuuuuuutoosss¡¡¡¡¡

  • This is the only video where EJ seems to be enjoying himself.

  • God I love this most underrated of Elton John songs. Kudos to the bassline.

  • @ipbsf - actually neither of them wrote it.

My dad, who is ironically the bass player on the track wrote it!

Paul Westwood. Check the credits on the album 'Ice & Fire'.

I was only around 5yrs old but I remember it well, as I was in the studio for the entirety of the recording of this album :)

  • @ellenwispa they both used to date girls at one time, Elton was MARRIED to a woman for 3 years, do not get all pissey about who sleeps with who MOST gays do not HATE women. Try to get a life and just enjoy a song because it s a good song

  • @MsLadyRobin Ah yes of course... Elton John... another one of your fave singers, who also just happens to be gay. This is becoming more than a coincidence... and you know that most gays do not hate women.. of course you do Robin, BECAUSE YOU ARE ONE!!!

  • @BillHuggins1 eat dirt, just try not to like it too much. CALL ME ANY THING YOU WANT AND SHOW EVERY ONE WHAT AN IDIOT YOU TRULY ARE, LOL LOL LOL LOL

  • @MsLadyRobin I think I'm actually falling IN LOVE WITH YOU. You see I have always had this thing about short, fat-assed, dyslectic Italians...

  • Whoa, Elton had some moves! Sweet song.

  • elton john is a very dirty gay

  • George is killing the falsetto

  • The song surely isn't one of his best, but being a child, well a teenie, of the Eighties, I simply love, love, love the video. During that period Elton was a pretty hot looking guy. There, I said it, I'm a woman, ha.

  • Wow, I can't ever recall any female (adult or teen) thinking that Elton was a hot looking guy. At best, they might have found him appealing as a songwriter and performer but never in the appearance dept. He's exceptionally talented as a musician but IMO, one of the most physically unattractive men on the planet.....The bald head, obesity, short stature, dental issues, bloat, and terrible fashion choices ruined any sex appeal...Kudos to you for not being shallow

  • Look around here on youtube, you'll find a few females thinking the same. No, seriously. ''Hot'' may be a bit too far fetched (it was late in the night ;-) ), but I dig his dark eyes without the glasses, and the gap between his teeth has something cute... I'm European, I heard we are cooler about bad teeth. *g*) Actually, 'cute' might be the better word, let's say the music he did in the Seventies and early Eighties is absolutely hot. And that's something I'll say at every day or night time.

  • Oh, and... thanks for thinking I'm not shallow. ;)

  • I am a girl and think he was VERY HOT. Well, HE WAS.... Having perfect body and pretty face is still not enough to be called a HOT MAN. Must be some charisma too, and it's more important... Elton had it.....He doesnt show much of it recently... But still, enjoy listening occasionaly to his interviews - he is very intelligent and and nice person, very strong person, which doesnt happen so often with SUPER-PUPER-STARS. And i find it attarctive as well.

  • Actually, I find him attractive. I can appreciate his looks, anyway. He's not my type at all [besides the gay part] but he's certainly not homely.

  • It's kind of funny. For a guy who's gone on record as saying he hates making videos, Elton sure does a job here.

  • I think this is the worst EJ song. And I'm one of the few who likes his 80s catalogue over (most of) his 70s (but definitly consider his 70s very good)

  • I love how Kiki Dee gets a pie in the face

  • the only thing that surprised me was i had forgotten how thin elton was. he actually looks pretty good damn good here!

  • He was taking his own bodyweight in cocaine around the time Ice On Fire came out.. his metabolism was probably a bit higher then than it is now :o)

  • GM also did the choruses of Niquita

  • Were you aware he was married to Renate Blauel and only admitted to being bisexual?

  • you're an idiot! in many ways gay men appreciate the beauty of a woman more than a straight man does or can!

  • How the hell do you work that one out daymude63 and where's the evidence?

You going by your own opinion or something?

  • well shit for brains......if you werea girl would you want a faggot to design your dress or a red neck shit kicker. ever see the fab 5? halston???????? shit for brains, go to bed! i think that you like it up the ass, don't ya buddy?

  • I asked you a simple question, so what's with all the name calling and abuse, or are you another retarded american who has access to the internet?

People like you make me laugh, really they do! ;o)

  • ...you just made my day...thanxxxx

  • Holy shit I forgot about this song! ha ha ha nice blast from the past!

  • If Elton & George perform this song on now they could change the names at the end to people like Britney Spears, Christina Agurelia, Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Beyonce Knowles, Kylie Mingoue

  • @davidgwr

And Lady Gaga, Kesha, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, Carrie Prejean, and the list goes on and on...

  • AWESOME!! They performed this on Liveaid 85! Memories:)

  • lol, how did people not know he was gay?

  • "He came from a lot of blues and funk. And he did have that soulful quality about himself that wasn't typical in the artists of his day."

The great "George Michael" backed him up here, but so did many others like, John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, and Crosby Stills and Nash. Everyone was happy to take a backing roll when they were with him, because they knew that Elton John's talent couldn't be matched.

They knew, as we all did, that it just didn't get any better than Elton John!

  • Shame on Elton for not giving George more face time - we finally get to see him at 2:36 - we should have been able to see him from 0:01 since he was clearly having so much fun and we LOVE his moves!!

  • He was hired as a background singer. but to pop up as a star singer. That was the way in the 80´s :)

  • I haven't heard this song in sooo looong. I love it!

  • nothin cud be sexier than when george comes out! shit!

  • WOAH!!!!!!!! SEXY!!!!!!!!!!! huhu i almost cried when i saw George.... he's Amazing... i love ur videos!!!!!!!!

ps: i love elton=) he's sooo cute here! just tiny little thing poking through everywhere lol kinda like a leprechaun IN A GOOD WAY!

  • AMAZING I TELL YOU

i fkin lovee GM & Elton

    together they are fantastic.

love watching the music vid but why does it take forever for george to come in :(

  • What a great duet!

  • I had the hugest crush on this guy that worked at our local Pizza Hut. He was 11 years older than me and just a total babe. I was only 16 at the time, and would go to have Pizza every Saturday just to see him. This song would play sometime in the course of my visit. He was the sweetest guy, and was very tolerant of my crush even though I hadn't realized it could never be.

  • Elton was actually pretty HOT here, and George...well that goes without saying.

  • I remember buying this song in the early spring of March,1986 at this record store. I had a crush on this chinese girl who worked there. She was at least 5 years older than me and I was a senior in H.S. She drove a car and I rode a bike. Definitely out of my league. I asked her out but she said no because she already had a boyfriend. But I could tell she was flattered that I asked her out. Ahh, the memories. Love the song. Very catchy and something you can dance to.

  • this was the first song i heard from him!

  • Awesome, awesome, awesome. I love this song.

  • Samantha Fox!! (Minute 3.50)

  • omg love you george here so much

  • This song cant be gay! Its beyond gay to the point where the line does not exist. It is not even a blip on the gaydar, because S.S Flamboyance is way too far out to sea. Its actually quite brilliantly entertaining from a horrifically cheesy point of view. Were they trying to be ironic? Who knows? But its genius!! GENIUS I TELL YA!! LOL!!

  • Well, my comment is based on the fact that, two of the most flamboyant musicians sing it, AND they spend the last two and a half minutes shouting out names of 80s diva names! Imaging the names they'd be shouting if the song came out now.....

  • So true Just a name-dropping nelly fest--I'm still laughing just tickled pink!

    :)

  • This is perhaps the gayest song on earth. I'm gay so I can say it.

  • JCSJS, your comment made me laugh out loud, that just cracked me up. I am also gay (isn't everyone?} and I know I've heard other tunes that scream queen much more so than this silly little diddy, but I haven't laughed out loud like that for sometime now! Thanks for the funny!

    --dbuffet

  • elton has the most beautiful brown eyes

  • ki ki dee was a 1970' s celebrity FyI

  • 1985 i mean lol

  • i believe this is from 1885. imagine george michael was only 22 years old here!!

  • love the song...but sooooo glad that that string-of pearls-on-the-shoulder fad didn't last long

  • If you couldn't tell that Marilyn Monroe was Elton's favorite actress growing up, then look no further than this video...;-)MMM very hot ladies on this vid indeed!

  • when was this? I don't remember this at all.

  • I don't either but I think it was in between Wham's breakup and Faith. One of us should look it up.

  • yeah it was, when gm was doing duets

with Aretha Franklin as well... then couple years later when he was 24 faith came out.

  • ive never seen this b4 neither!! actually never heard of this at all.

  • Late 1985.

  • It's from the ice on Fire album...it came out after Nikita. It's top cheese :-)

  • It's great he got Priscilla and Elvis Presley in there as well lol-loved his reaction to the measly food portion he got lol...

  • yea and she is on a split screen with Elton at 1:28 and then again at 2:56. Very Hot!!!!

  • okay-finally the black gal and the poofy haired white gal-are his regular background singers-Please look at Sad Song on my Favorites list-Can someone figure out if they are the same-I can't sing but have a good ear for sound-they sound exactly the same? Someone said his background singers in the 80's were all black gals-I differ.

  • Who is she? does she still sing? Is she British?

  • You mean that cool chick at 3:44 and 3:48?? and in other cuts too?

  • Who is the absolutly gorgeous backing vocal chick? The one with her hair up who points her finger at the camera when she sings "wrap her up" she also starts laughing when Elton John sings about BB.

  • This song is ironic

  • Yes. But that's good, because that's the only entertainment value left in it.

  • True that-but he included Shirely Temple and First Lady Nancy-makes it less man-pig-And I want to wrap up ALL those dudes in the Deep Blue Something when they play Breakfast at Tiffanys.

  • Anyway-He says "He's only got one chance" like he better make a good choice, also I feel the same.

  • These guys are so entertaining! I Loved it! I also loved the footage in the video,Thanks for putting this one up!

  • Sexy George !!!

  • George is a good looking guy, a little bit hairy but none the less attractive. Elton looks so different without glasses, it's baffling.

  • But I also love him without glasses.. Elton is magic :)

  • Marilyn Monroe! :)
