  • One of my 2 favorite beach songs. "NY's a Lonely Town" by the Trade Winds is the other. The French horns in this song are primo.

  • god i was 18 then ,is it so long ago,its still as good now as it was then

  • we meet again 240 hehe

  • Pete, relax. They haven't wrecked anything. It is an awesome video as is.

  • Please guys take it back a few steps - you've wrecked it

  • Please guys ake it back a few steps - you've wrecked it

  • Please change it back to the original - it really was MUCH better than this.

  • I loved the original vid that you did. This edit is good but not as good as the original. Just saying, like. :-|

  • Raining Fish & SeaLions Here in The Burgh. Cats & Dogs??? Snuggled indoors. Time to Sing. And Put on a Smile. Do something for SomeOne Else. Check. Go Out in the Rain??? Ya Gotta be Kidding. ... First a Shower. "Since no one is perfect, it follows that all great deeds have been accomplished out of imperfection. Yet they were accomplished, somehow, all the same." – Lois McMaster Bujold ♥
  • I agree. You guys did a great job on the video. I love it!

  • Great work, good job on the video

  • nice job with vid and song!

  • cool song in the 70's first class

  • This is an excellent video - you two did way more than fab job.

When I first saw it, I thought it was an "official" video for HSM, only to learn that Beach Baby was never played in the movie.

If this is the kind of quality you can produce - please produce more!

    Wow!

  • I'm not contradicting people who recall it as a hit in '74, just pointing out that it's initial release was earlier and it didn't chart. It's not uncommon for some recognised hits to have had an earlier 'unnoticed release'. One example that springs to mind is Polices 1979 hit Roxanne. i have the 1978 non hit version of this at home. Unfortunately I didn't buy the non hit version of Beach Baby and I don't think tony Burrows or his biographers are braeking their necks to have a non hit on his CV.

  • @krawsherplonk if you've got a copy of a deleted release of the Polices Roxanne I might make an offer. )))

  • @krawsherplonk I bought the 45 for this song when it came out in 1974. Do you know when this song was originally released?

  • great song all most syncronised to a perfect video, but a good job done any way

  • great song almost sycronised to a perfect video, but a good job done

  • it fits and works

  • hey it fits!

  • Class of 1975 weighing in on this one............Super Nice job and a very good song from my "HAY DAY". Still listening to the 70's and looking back at all the memories and lessons learned. Thanks for sharing a GREAT VIDEO!

  • Great work with this vid.

  • Good Job!

  • am i right by saying it was a bunch of studio musicians that did the song...have always lloved it, was a great big hit where ever there was a beach...thanx for this Oldfiat24, if only we could get those days back again...cheers from Australia, the land of beaches...

  • well done !!!

  • Now it looks like scenes from "Grease".

    {if you can ignore the fact that they're not dressed like it's 1962}

  • love it great job

  • An old fart like me comes on YouTube to look for this old one-hit wonder from his sophomore year in high school (1974) and finds this video.

    Excellent work!!!!

I'm adding this to my favorites. . .

  • @thefabulousthomasj I'm sure it was released before 1974 in the UK although it wasn't a hit.

  • @krawsherplonk Released May 1974. Hit #13 in UK, #4 in US.

  • Excellent!!!!! And I used to drive an old Triumph GT-6 in those days.

  • Great Job !. This song was the anthem of the 70's. Was it actually in the movie ?

  • @jvarela965 It wasn't in the movie, but it totally should've been. I'm so glad you like this video!

  • This song is the Anthem of the 70's

  • Wonderfully cheesy! We used to fly around the floor at "The Hop" when they'd put this tune on. LOL Those were the days...

  • Yeah, you guys did do a great job with it, it was fun to watch and loved the music!!

  • i love how they say everybody drove a chevy and they showed a mustang

  • Who is "they"?

And we just used what was available in the film. At the time, we only had footage from the second and I don't think they show a chevy in any of the movies.

  • @OldFiat24 "they" is probably a reference to the "we" in your video description.

  • @beccahday I know, but we can't work out who "kartracer2442" is talking to. Or why, on a private YouTube account, s/he would assume that anyone besides us would read her/his comment. Who else did s/he think would respond?

  • @OldFiat24 i don't know if you're new to yt or what, you don't seem to be, but that is a very common, typical, rude thing that people do in comments here. they are talking to other viewers who read the comments, about the content of what we are viewing. it's rude to the poster of the video, but it's infinitely common practice.

  • @OldFiat24 incidentally, your youtube account is far from "private". you are on a public forum on the internationally accessible internet. you are far from the only person who will read or reply to the comments on your publicly posted videos.

  • @beccahday By "private", I meant it wasn't owned by a large corporation.

  • Feel I've missed out a bit by not seeing the musical. Did see this performed by TheSearchers in 2000. I think it would have been 71 when it first had airplay but wasn't a hit first time round.

  • wow excellent video!!! very well put together; i'm an oldie so I love the old song with the new highschool musical highlites, great combo! lots of fun and brings back old memories of my young times when i was like them lol

  • this is awesom!!!!!!!!!love this song

  • 良い歌です!大好きです!!

  • anyone know who was responsible for the choreography? Truly awesome routines....

  • I believe Kenny Ortega (who was also the director) choreographed almost all of it. He had two assistant choreographers as well, but I can't remember their names... :)

  • @OldFiat24 I remember this being more of a turntable hit rather than a chart hit in 1971 or '72 on our (UK) side of the pond. Didn't realise it was having another life.

You're to be congratulated on the job you have done!!!!

  • I still love you Cindy! You out there? Tiger. Summer of '66 forever!

  • One of the best beach songs ever.

  • 5 gold stars

  • This Is Fantastic!!! Love This One Alot! 5*s Thankyou for sharing.....Anita..

  • Pachelbel's Canon D chord progression in this song.

  • This video is great! I graduated from high school in 1975 and this was one of my favorite songs. I still have my original 45 which is amazing since I moved from Minneapolis to Chicago to Denver and then to Houston! The characters from High School musical are absolutely perfect for this. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • Great job and fantastic insight!

  • Really great effort, thanks for posting!

  • beautiful. takes me back.

  • Excellent video, excellent song! For this Englishman, mixed memories of the summer of 1974 when it was too cold to be a beach baby and there certainly weren't many long hot days. Had to wait until the next summer for them.

  • Nice job with the video. Now maybe my kids will like this song!

  • Coolest video on youtube!

  • I was a exchange student in Mexico in 1991 when saw this album like plastic kind and had hits of 70's and this was first song. Fun song, reminds me of my real LA days at Venice.

  • Love it, Memories

  • this was done perfectly! the song really fits w/the vid! great job!!

  • I believe Tony Burrows was the lead singer (as he was quite often for during the early 70s for various bands).

By the way, I can't believe the people whose only comment is about the Mustang. Who cares?

  • Oh my gosh! Thank you! I couldn't believe that all these people were like, "oh-em-gee, you showed a mustang!"

    Thanks for your comment!

  • That's a fantastic piece of work! Phenomenal! Great choice of music - love that song. Thanks!!!

  • did tony burrows have anything to do with this song

  • i remember when this song was a hit on the am stations in the 70s, showing my age!

  • Not to be a downer but when the lyrics mention how "everybody drove a Chevrolet", a Mustang appears in the video.

  • The problem is that Mustang rhymes with Da Nang, not "old LA".

  • Well, LA looks a lot like Da Nang now!

  • I think its funny that at the part where the song says, "remember when I drove a chevolet" a pink mustang foes cruising up the road, LOL Viva FORD!!!

  • i loved this record my high school days were even better due to classics like this

walking a pretty girl home from a dance

    such wonderful times

it fit high school musical to a T

well done fiat old lad for a superb production

  • Nice job! Loved this song for over 30 years...

  • Great video! Thanks for that

  • Omg, that is a awsome vid. So clever. :O

  • the sun tan crew cut all american man

  • I'm sure they're all getting excellent grades

  • Youth! Joy! Happiness! Love! Getting Silly! Fun! Laughing! Running! Swimming! Dancing!

If you think there's something wrong all that, you need to die now.

  • Great song tainted by self-absorbed teenie weenies with hormones unchecked.

  • lol I actually thought this was going to be a compliment at first!! XD Thanks!

  • in a sense it was!..LOL..which is exactly what I was..when this toon surfaced back in the 70's..talk about swappin' spit and playin' tonsil hockey!..LOL..timeless memories of reezy summer evenings on moonlit beaches..pretty girls and young love..sigghhh..dedicated to all the girls I went to school with at NLPS and NLSS..weren't we all grand?..thanks for the upload..

  • so cute :)

    great job on the editing

  • I'm old enough to (a) remember when this song came out and (b) have kids who love to watch HSM...and all of us think you did an incredible job matching the exuberance of the music with the energy of the movie. Well done!

  • Oh wow! Thank you for showing this to them! I'm so glad you all like it. :D It's a big compliment... Thank you!

  • Love this song. Love the beach.

  • Me too. Mmmmm... I miss the beach!

  • This is great! I have fond memories of BB when it first came out in 1974. My 5 year old twin girls are big HSM fans so it's a terrific combo... and you did a superb job cutting it, too. THANKS!

  • Thanks! We were trying to break away from our usual style of editing and make a more advertisement-like video. :D I'm glad you liked it so much!

  • i'm not a fan of hsm,but this edit really complements one of my favorite songs of the 70s.

  • Wow! Thank you! That's a big compliment. Thank you so much. :D

  • I love this song

  • Me too. We frequently go around singing it. :D

  • Oh ya, great song....and great job on the video-superb!!

  • Isn't this song awesome! Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it. :)

  • well done old fiat i loved that , brilliant

top marks to you, the scenes fit the song to a T

  • Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it. :)

  • Hey, I've never been a fan of the whole High School Musical movies..... but this was really well put together and the clips really worked well with the song... I'm really surprised... Great Job! 5 Stars! Rawk on!

  • Wow! Thank you so much! That is really a compliment! Thanks. :)

  • Wow! Thank you so much! That is really a compliment! Thanks. :)

  • soo love this! wherry do you get youre clips?

  • Thank you! I downloaded HSM 2 from ashley-t(dot)com. You have to go back a ton of pages to find the link for it. The post it's attached to should be from only a couple days after the premire. :)
