I would like to know which book specifically got 'terrible reviews' as I have read several that got great reviews. I prefer to judge myself as I have listened to him many times and only ever heard him speak against abuse of children and women and also talk about encouraging children and speaking positively to children.

I have never read his book before, or heard he condones animal abuse but I have heard him condone beating children. I find him to be appalling and have no respect for him. I have read several of James Dobsons books. He NEVER condoned the beating of children and is dead against child abuse. He does believe however in spanking a child for outright disobedience. I have read several of James Dobsons books. He NEVER condoned the beating of children and is dead against child abuse. He does believe however in spanking a child for outright disobedience. As he said in one of his books not for childish behaviour or mistakes or things that are part of developing stages of a young child but for outright disobedience.

Pretty much all of his books, including the most popular "the Strong Willed child". He uses negative words about children throughout the book, and uses them several times. Some include selfish, rude, arragant, hot -headed, disobediant spoiled, greedy, and many more. Basically a summary of what children are to him.I also find it interesting on the Focus on the Family website that under the tabs of "abuse" there is none about physical abuse. Maybe cause his advice about children is physical abuse?

Laura Ingraham says she is for Family Values and is pro-life and says to vote for Romney!!
Romney was pro-choice - passed a law that allowed for $50 abortions in Massachusetts.
And then Laura says to not vote for Huckabee because he stood by McCain......and McCain is bad to vote for because he hasn't stood for Family Values says Dr. Dobson.
WTF!!!???
Dr. Dobson said he would not vote for McCain in Feb. and then says in August he will vote for McCain because of Sarah Palin!!??

The only ones making a big fuss about dying are those obsessed with it, due to religious zeal. We all die, whether we wish for an after life or not changes nothing about the natural cycle of life, which ends in death.

I understand that you have never ever changed your mind about anything.If you really understand what James Dobson is about then you would understand why he changed his mind. At the time he made the comment Huckabee was running against the others, and McCain was the other. Dobson liked Huckabee. Is Huckabee running now. No, so you just waste you vote.. No. You make that vote count and for the person that best fits the qualities that we need in a president. What is so hard to understand there?

James Dobson Announced in a Focus on the Family Letter date Oct 2008 to subscribers that he supports McCain and Palin. You can also find it on the internet if you look. Just put in James Dobson Supports McCain and you will find it. He wrote in his letter that things have changed since last year and so it seems has his mind since there isn't only but two people to chose from. Please take time to read it. We can change our minds. We all aren't perfect.

A huge AMEN to that. I am a christian and Dobson does NOT speak for me. Christians are not a monolithic group, except with regards to our faith in Christ. Dobson is an extreme right winger and I do not support most of his political stances.

A good test for a real Christian on the political sphere is that if your PRO LIFE or PRO CHOICE.
I find it impossible for a self-proclaimed Christian to be PRO CHOICE.
I disagree with you. Real Christians "are a monolithic group". They may not be sitting in the same church but they belong to the Body of Christ.
Christians are radical to the secular world. If you are compromising it says something about you.

Monkey, you're totally wrong. YOUR test is not a test every christian must pass. To say that ALL christians must be republican or pro-life is ludicrous. There are more issues in life than just one - abortion. While I happen to be against it, that doesn't mean I MUST support your party. Right wingers like you cannot and will not determine the authenticity of my faith. While christians are radical, they dont have to think and walk like you in order to be 'in'. I have watch the documentary on Elite group, who owns the federal reserve. Banking contel. Finding out, they are the one who decideds who get elected into the white house. And that we as us citizens vote doesn't count so they say, if that is true. Why voted! Look how George Bush stolen the election is florida. Christianity is not a game here! What is matter with you! Christianity is about a intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and not about religion. Keep religion out of it. Don't play around with your eternal soul and where it will land my friend. Jesus did what no one else could not do. He reconsile us to our heaven Father.
