I prefer this live version, to the album version. It wasn't even part of The Virgin Tour. Madonna was a rising star then. By the time she released her second album, Uncle Sam couldn't afford her for a another show :D.

I love this song by Madonna! It's amazing because the song is about 20 years old and it never gets old. The musicianship is great but it's the VULNERABILITY IN THE LYRICS AND URGENCY in Madonna's vocal delivery that makes it work. The lyrics are beautiful "...trying hard to get away, but I can't seem to fight the way I feel even though your not for real..."

I would love for her to do a throwback tour, where she sings all her songs from the eighties and early nineties as they are....no remix, no reinvention...but just as they were recorded...now that would be a f$%&*ing awesome concert....flashback and nostalgic all at once....and if she came out with her eighties gear...it's all over...lol

I remember her performing (her first recorded song EVERYBODY) at Danceteria. She was a regular at the club, but what I remember most was all my friends were asking "who is this girl". Now they all know who she is. As a Madonna fan my favorite memory of her is when she performed "Like a Virgin" at the MTV video music awards. She rolled around the stage at the end of the performance and the audience did not know if they should clap OR WHAT......LOL!!! It changed music.

Well that was a long time ago, but its a great memory...we knew she was gonna be a big star, but wow...to actually see history in the making...and admission was only 5 bucks...compared to the ticket prices today...My friends and I were standing right in front of thre stage. Now in the club there was no stage so they made one. It was in front of the DJ Booth, the DJ's name was Bobby..So we saw a great show...
