Biedermann became 5Th in the olympic final, as he was the only swimmer in the final !!! without a suit consisting of Polyurethan. He is just 22 years of age, he will improve his Delphin Kick and his start (role model phelps), and I am quite sure that he will dominate the 200m in the future, but doubt the 400m. His swimming technique is already perfect, i am a swimmer as well so i know what i am talking about
Biedermann is a fine swimmer, he will be michael's main rival in the 200 free in London 2012. His margin of improvement for his Dolphin Kicks and starts is not wide. Juan that's not true. Not all the swimmers at the Olympics were able to use LZR. Many federations had contract deals and forced their swimmers to honor them. Biedermann in Beijing was forced to use the slow Addidas.

During the 2008 Olympics when there was the first big debate about the suits all experts said that the NASA-designed Speedo LZR Racer suit increases the speed of the athlete by 2 seconds for 200m.

There are many swimmers that are still using the LZT speedo from last year: Phelps, Peirsol, Coventry,adlington,etc and they are losing against the jaked suit swimmers like Bidermann. Bidermann and other mediocre swimmers are winning gold that had never won before.

Listen, Technology has played an important role in swimming like it has in tennis, cycling since 1999 but there are limits to what's acceptable and what's not. The great Grant Hacket put it this way: This new suit the jaked is technological doping and should be banned right away. The field hasn't been leveled in these worlds. Swimmers using the LZR speedo are in a really bad position compared to the super technologically advanced "Jaked" and Arena suits and that's a fact.

While I do agree that the new suit is like 'doping,' it is pretty hypocritical for those LZR Racer-wearer to be called the kettle black (I thought those were terrible for the sport as well)
Solution: they should swim naked (yummy...), or at least just wear speedos or...speedo g-strings! Now THAT would make many of my friends watch swimming with me.

It's pretty simple, During the 2008 Olympics most swimmers wore a similar technologically designed suit so the level playing field was equal. In Rome 09, The jaked is being worn by 70% of the swimmers(mostly unknown swimmers) and the LZR RACER is being worn by mostly elite swimmers like Phelps, Peirsol, Coventry,etc. How do you explain that "unknown swimmers like Zhang are destroying records by 6 seconds of the great Hacket? give me a break.

That is a stupid lie. You have no clue what you are talking about. There was no equal playing field in Beijing. There were some wearing the LZR Racer like Phelps and other could not wear it like Biedermann. He wore only non-enhanced pants by Adidas.
Biedermann and many other swimmers, as well as Arena, Adidas and others warned the FINA in 2008 not to allow the Speedo LZR Racer because it would lead to a "arms race". But neither Speedo nor Phelps would listen.

Besides, Phelps is the best swimmer ever, a machine and he's beaten records since he was 15 and there wasn't high tech suits like today's in 2000 So he destroyed the 200 fly record today using a using a technologically obsolete disadvanteged suit. Phelps' been a super star since 2001 and is 24, Biedermann is almost 23, same generation. The US, Britain and Australia all have deals with Speedo. After all the mumbo-jumbo of Speedo in 2008 in their ads about the "NASA-designed" LZR Racer and how much it reduces drag and fatigue and how much it increases buoyancy all of a sudden wearing a slightly better better suit than it is labeled unethical.

The reason these suits are bad (with respect to the golf analogy) is that they take a lot of technique from swimming. A power swimmer like Bierdermann has all his flaws masked because the suit keeps him high in the water and keeps his body more stable. Hence he can produce a rapid turnover without too much regard to losing form (I know he is still a fine swimmer, but I'm comparing him to Phelps and Thorpe).

He is known in Europe for a long time, world record holder on the short course, won several international junior titles. For example, if you compare Bidermann with Phelps and Thorpe, they hold their strokes the traditional way and thus normally had the advantage on the last lenght where their more efficient style had put energy in the tank for the finish. With the new suits however, this is not the case and Biedermann was almost making a mockery of the sport by putting in his sprint finish with more than 100m to go, not even possible with the LZR(which im not a fan either).

There's something called strategy, Mark Tewksberry also failed at this. These new suits make above water swimming more important than underwater, especially since underwaters are slower than freestyle. Knowing this, Phelps swims extra meters by going down off his turns and doing something slow. Just sayin'.

To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what Thorpe's suit was made of, it might as well have been the first xglide. Not to mention the fact that Phelps' suit was extremely controversial last year, but that was ok, because it was speedo and phelps. Unfortunately for you, sprint events, by definition, require TECHNIQUE and POWER. Everyone competing in the final of the 200 freestyle is a power swimmer. You also have no grasp on what a high turnover looks like, because Biedermann certainly lacked it

Biedermann said this after beating phelps" I think the suit is problematic. I think the suits make us swim really fast. I honestly think it was worth about two seconds in this race. I really, really hope next year we can go back to the normal one, because it's important for the sport. I think the suits destroy a little bit of the real sport. At the Olympic games , for german swimmers it was forbidden to use the speedo LZR. They have an agreement with their sponsor adidas. The wold cup series and the german schampionchips biedermann could swim with his own swimsuite.
