You look silly in front of the rest of the world by making assumptions. It is a trait you have displayed twice here. Accept , Whitehaven is a town, which is, rightly or wrongly, finished in terms of economic and financial growth. Large parts are run down - very picturesque in parts - an economically deprived area is still largely not the first choice for many. Statement s from those who live there - foul language and hate - not very attractive :-) but if that is your bliss - enjoy :-) LOL !!

There are several compelling reasons why dwelling in Whitehaven would not be possible. Firstly the incorrect assertion you know an individual rather better than the individual themselves, bizarre to the rest of the world, however possibly not so in your case. Secondly, regarding the place, there's history, and unfortunate areas in need of generation, why would one live in this environment by choice. Finally I have looked again - Poor Whitehaven, obviously once a rather nice place.
The only thing wrong with your statement is that Whitehaven has never and will never be a nice place. i'm afraid to say i was born and bred here, i've left on numerous occasions but always came back. Due to the new reactors being built the place will prosper and then will die a slow slow death, if Whitehaven were a dog it would have been put down a long long time ago.

Chimney, Man in a coat, Folk Group, A Visitors Centre, A Tall Ship - to be fair its hardly a hive of Financial, Industrial or Economic Success !!! - Active BNP Candidates / a Whitehaven Haka - a closed down Chemical Plant, Pits Shut - and a folk group :-) Its fact - really it is - what about when Sellafield finally closes -
