They have been known to live up to 15. Our old Labrador sandy lived for 11 1/2(she was over weight, which can shorten their life span). But knowing the track record of many other dog breeds including the full breeds. We would never have anything other than a Lab.

Even if they only lived for 5 years, it's the companionship and friendship you have that counts.

All I've had were mutts and they are all dogs. They're all extremely friendly and love human companionship unless they're raised wrong.

My mom's dog is 18 years old and fat and that dog seems like she has another 2 years at least left.

Well that's great. Sounds like she's a happy dog. Our dog would have lived for longer but it was due to the cancer she had which spread to her stomach and bowel that shortened her life. Nothing could be done for her. If she hadn't have had the cancer she would probably still be with us today. We didn't say it was being overweight that shortened her life we just meant it could have contributed. Labradors are well known for being garbage guts and becoming overweight.

And also there are some breeds of dog that are just viscious by nature. We always treat all of our animals kindly and they all always become part of the family. But we wouldn't trust any other breed of dog other than the Labrador, Golden Retriever, Saint Bernard or the Newfoundland. But That's us and the way we feel, but other people may have a different preference in the breed of dog they like.

Well some breeds of dogs are used to be vicious but that's the way they're raised. My friend has an extremely friendly pit bull. Some dogs might have a tendency but you have to feed that tendency.

All vicious dogs attacks have been from mistreated dogs, trained to attack dogs, or feral dogs.

I totally agree with you yeah, my aunt and uncle used to have a bull mastiff who was the softest thing ever and the biggest sook. In most cases that is true.

But we have had many instances here in australia, where there have been people attacked by the most softest of dogs who have not been provoked, they have just turned. The majority of the attacks have been done by Pit Bulls, Staffy's, Bull Mastiffs and many different crosses and the people attacked are usually toddlers and elderly.

whether something sets them off we'll never know, but it has been happening alot here and usually to no fault of the owners or passers by. I don't blame the dogs either as it's not their fault it's in their nature.
