I will say this much, Liddell was the fighter to watch before. I believe as soon as he lost to Rampage on their 2nd fight, his career was at a dead end
@TheMasterSword16 It was never meant to be in the first place. The UFC did a great job hyping up Liddell and carefully molding opponents for him. They overlooked Rampage twice. And Liddell paid for it twice.
@kanguesso true. of course, Rampage was only coming off wins against Marvin Eastman and Matt Linland by split decision. it wasn't until blowing out Chuck and beating Henderson did Rampage look like the best.
@TheMasterSword16 He did have a successful career in pride you know. Granted, he was the very best fighter in pride but he was one of the best fighters they had in his division. Yes he was still behind Wanderlei and Rua but he was one tough SOB, still is given the fact that he hasn't been FINISHED in 5 years.
@kanguesso oh no doubt about that, it's just that Chuck was on fire at the time and was considered to be the number 1 or 2 lhw in the world. but yeah, Rampage has been a solid top 5-10 guy for a long time.
@TheMasterSword16 I agree with you. I think many MMA fans under appreciate Rampage somewhat, especially those fans who began to watch MMA through the UFC and didn't know anything about pride. Rampage for a long time has been a top the list as not only one of the very best fighters of the past 10 years, but one of the toughest. There were only 3 fighters ahead of him in pride and those were Rua and Wanderlei who were the very best fighters in the world. Rampage is no joke.
