Very true. Mick, Keith and their manager Andrew Oldham wrote AS TEARS GO BY in 1964.

It was a hit late that year for Marianne Faithful. The Stone's version was released late in 1965. The point I was tring to make was that their arrangement, with a single acoustic guitar and a string quartet was, in my opinion, the Stone's answer to the Beatles YESTERDAY which had come out earlier in 1965. I was not trying to put the Stones down.
