  • In one of the obits for Johnny Cash it was said that Kris had gotten a job at RCA in Nashville hopping to meet him as a janitor and give him the song. When that didn't work Kris rented a helicopter and landed it on his front yard. Johnny came running out mad as a hornet cussing kriss out. Kriss just smiled and handed the song to Johnny saying "you'll love this song" and took off in the Helicopter. Johnny thought Kriss was crazy or brilliant so he read the song and loved it.

  • There is a cool poster inspired by this song at honky tonk poster dot com!

  • Why dont we just shut it with the religious comments and listen to this great fucking music :)

  • KRis Kristofferson wrote this song. When Johnny cash sang this on sing variety show, the producers wanted him to change the line, "Wishing I was stoned". Being loyal to Kris, Johnny said, "That is the way he wrote it, that is how I am going to sing it,}

  • Heres the original.

    youtube.com/watch?v=dyA4Q1AkVE8

  • Sung by two men who lived the life of the song. We are sadly missing such men in this world of manufactured celebrities. I hope Kris keeps going for a few more years.

  • @Emaliedaxx You're 20? If that's so... you're on the right track and your dad is a great man. :)

  • @Emaliedaxx

its beautiful music, about simple things. Life, love, memories, emotions. No reference to money, lust, to the things of no value in life. This is what makes this music great. And I am 20 years old too ;)

  • Honey .... Honey! - It is a great remedy for a hangover. Just mix 80ml orange juice, a table spoon of honey and some yogurt and drink up! : -))

  • my uncle went to a kris krsitofferson concert recently. he forgot the beging of this song. my uncle sang the beging and kris krist offerson turned to him and said thank you. everyone around him gave him a hug and my other uncle was all you could die right now. haha and my cousins got to go back stage and meet him lucky lil kids. they dnt even kno who he is!

  • My GOD this is amazing. Absolute fantastic.

  • If you like this -

    type in and watch -

    "Kay by John Wesley Ryles"

you will thank me for reminding you of this forgotten hit from 1968

but when you hear it you'll say -"Oh yeah - so that's the name of that song"

  • Dude, no one wakes up and says " I think I will become a addict today" Shit happens and it happens to good people. Being strung out is hell on earth, I know from experiance and for everyone who gets clean or sober....right on. If you was clean all your life, more power to ya. Be happy for yourself that you was stronger, but don't put a person down because he was weak. God loves everyone the same, if you knew him better you would know this.

  • @synbadify That don't give no one the right to sin like sleepin with someone you aint married to or using His name in vein.

  • @Emaliedaxx I was saying that even though God loves all, He don't appreciate people sinnin'. I wasn't goin' against the man. BTW, Yer supposed to capitalize "Him" when talkin' about God.

  • @42Sparky13 In the Authorized Version of the Bible, which is the KJV, "him" is never capitalized. Him is not a name. You only capitalize names and the first letter of a sentence. While it's true that God loves all (and that's why he offerse salvation to everyone!), he does not love those that reject him and the Holy Ghost. Only those who have called on the name of Jesus Christ is a child of God. Read your Bible before opening your mouth about your god.

  • @Emaliedaxx If you commit adultery or fornicating, by the authority of the Bible, I am obligated to correct you. Make right judgments! We are supposed to judge. It will turn out sooner or later that the god you worship is a figment of your imagination, since you don't know what the Bible says. You quote "judge not" and totally disregard the context, and every other instance in the Bible where it says that we should make judgments.

  • @LochlanachViking all they're saying is that it was tough to get out of the situation they were in and it is their belief that a higher power was responsable for helping for them, they don't think God loves them any more than he loves you or they would have said that, and calm down about "being clean for your whole life" those who haven't "said no" might have been in very differnt situations that might have been more difficult than yours for all you know

  • CONGRATS bguitarplayer!!! keep goin on!! :)

  • clean and sober 9 years this August

  • Johnny Cash liked Kris songs very much. Kris is the best songwriter ever.

  • awesome.

  • I am grateful to have seen both of them many times. I am glad Kris is still with us. They are and were both very special people. Kris is such a nice man.

  • Country music died the day Johnny Cash passed away..

  • @dockie1964 A lot of things died the day Cash died. You can smell them rotting every day in America.

  • @magprob

Yep! And, I have been wearing black ever since. Pick up that sword or cross and make a difference in this world. We need heroes on this planet! Be one. I know you can.

  • *****

  • 28 people don't like this video why? what a classic song, obviously 28 people haven't got any taste for classic songs these days.

  • positive melancholy

  • Love this song and the affection between Johnny and Kris. Too bad the part where they hug at the end got cut off.

  • Been there . )

  • This a beautiful song written by Kris Kristofferson and beautifully performed by Johnny Cash and Kris. I think that it describes the sadness of so many of us who tried the traditional american lifestyle and could never make the fit. We have warm memories of sunday supper and family life. We admire those that have it but realize that it was never meant to be for us.

  • "Sunday Morning Coming Down" was written by Kris Kristofferson when he was working as a janitor in a recording studio. While Kristofferson recorded the song himself for his debut album, it was Johnny Cash who took the tune to Number One in 1970. see --- History of an American folk song by Kim Rueh
