You guys forgot to mention that it is very funny. My 12 year old sister bugs me constantly to watch them with her on youtube. It has gotten her to start reading Merlin books. I gave her "Lost Years of Merlin" series by T.A. Baron to start with since it is fantasy based. For historical Camelot I totally recommend Jack Whyte's "Camulod Chronicles" which is a 9 book series & starts in Roman Britain. Super awesome series!!! I love this TV show, it's everything I read lumped together with visuals!
I agree with what you all said: casting aside the first season of Merlin was flawed. I almost gave up watching the show. However, I just finished watching season 2 and it's VASTLY better than the first. Everything is done better and the show finally deviates from the Smallville formula and it resumes the mytharcs of Camelot: Mordred and Lancelot return and a new character from the legends is introduced and the season finale is heart-breaking. Never mind season 1 - watch season 2!
i hate morgana's face in this show serioulsy just the close ups it burns my eyes

the right guy... focus on the acting, the plot, the chemistry, the "feel" of the series... It will grow on you the more you watch it!

I love Merlin. They mess up the Arthurian Legend, but it's interesting.
